'🆃🅷🅸🆁🆂🆃' Is the first full length romance book in the 'Prey' series. Spoken in 'Dual perspectives', has slight dark elements and ends on a cliffy.

Of course I'm going to want to read it when the author drops the cover..🤷‍♀️ Not sure what significance it had to the story but oh well it was devoured in no time at all.

Good girl Raven aka Gia doesn't know what's install for her when she enters and catches the eye of Goth Boy aka Draven Beckford her first day of university. The hotter than sin man about campus alongside his two best friends (Reid & Valen) who exudes danger and oozes wealth he's also one of the three founding sons of Kenya one of the most dangerous corrupted organisations known to mankind.

image1

Above all else you never want to come under these boys radars.

Escaping her parents divorce her senior year Gia transfers to Kenyan University majoring in economics. Don't be fooled by Gia, she may be a good girl virgin, holier than thou but she's got claws and a quick wit on her which had me connecting with her character easily.

Draven OMG this man makes you want to sin right alongside him, I just wanted more of his background to come through in this, I wanted to see his dangerous side peek its ugly head out, so I'm hoping as this series moves along we see more of that side of things.

What started out as a bet of sorts to woe and destroy the virgin on campus turned into so much more when Draven fell under her spell making him take steps to claim her and make her his indefinitely which is so out of character for him as he's the love em and leave em type of player.

* Teaser used is off the authors facebook page *

Ahh that’s generous.
Where to start.

Let me just paint a picture, here you have two ridiculously beautiful specimens Dravin and Victoria who have obviously been plucked straight out of every male and females wet dream, both of which are also down right nefarious, control freaks who love to play games. We have the self proclaimed bad boy who has a general give no fucks attitude, and of course the can do no wrong in anyone’s eyes golden girl who excels in gaslighting, gatekeeping and girlbossing. Anyway, in walks our virtuous main character Gianna with her air of innocence, that gets everyone’s attention, next thing you know we have “The Bet”, corrupt the new girl, the deal sweetener from Victoria that Dravin can “stick it anywhere” because it’s the one thing he wants but can’t have, booooooring.To top it off we have the infamous one liner “Marcia-fucking-Brady.” Listen it was like reading a bad adaptation of cruel intentions and our fucking queen Sarah Michelle Gellar did it first and did it better. I said what I said. ✋🏼

I’m not saying I hated the book, okay, maybe I do hate the book a bit but it was entirely unoriginal and uninspiring… considering the storyline was a mix between Cruel Intentions and the Beautiful Disaster series by Jamie McGuire (2 things I very much enjoyed) this book ignited a fire in me that really made me want to mark it as dnf but I decided to stick it out, only to write it off as a hot-mess and give you a review explaining what it is that angered me most

So where to begin, here are a few things I hated that caused me vexation:
1. Gianna’s piss poor time management skills, I’ve dubbed her as the Queen of constantly leaving the party 2 minutes upon arrival - because who actually wants to enjoy hanging with friends anyway?
2. Veronica’s use of the word “pootie” it’s unbelievably juvenile, it made me forget that the characters of this book are all in their 20’s
3. Dravins name - mainly because my autocorrect wants to keep changing it to Dragon and seeing as how he had the characteristics of one, it’s quite fitting
4. The lack of drama, I spent a good portion of the book waiting for something drastic to happen, like the other shoe to drop, only to be repeatedly disappointed - just like my last relationship. For all the nefarious deeds, manipulation tactics and public humiliation these people seem to revel in there wasn’t much of it.
5. The amount of spelling/grammar mistakes and inconsistencies, it was almost as if a child had wrote this book; Veronica had long straight black hair, then she had wavy blonde hair, Gia’s dad’s new girlfriend was named Stephanie and then her name was Carolyn, and what the fuck was Colin’s purpose?

Nope, just nope.

I LOVED THIS BOOK !
First of all they are NOT standalone, must be read in order and it ends in a cliffhanger.

I literally read in one sitting. This book has crack in it, it’s addictive, this book is so wrong but right in everything that matters.

“Even in the dark, I fell right into you…and we fit perfectly.”

“I refuse to exhale. Not until I have your dreams and the taste of your breath on my lips.”

“I will break you and then put you back together and break you again. It doesn’t matter how many times I break you because when I put you back together, we will fit perfectly.”

Gia is a virgin who went out of state for College in a catholic ivy league hoping for a high standard education. Little did she know that the catholic college is actually full of sinners and run by a CULT called the Order and they do whatever they want. The college is divided by PREY which are the poor kids they give scholarships to it and they have no idea where they are falling into, and the PREDATORS which are the ORDER and their kids, THE SONS OF KENYAN ! The sons of Kenyan are required to marry for convenience at graduation on senior year, before that they can literally take as many PREY as they want, and they DO IT ! Gia is strong and she doesn’t bend down to any guy to treat her like trash, I love her. But she falls for the most important son of Kenyan DRAVIN, and he IS THE DEVIL. But he also falls for her, there are many many many issues, there’s the order, a bet, the rules and some surprises that actually left me speechless…
The other main characters Jess, Reid and Valen are also important and their story is crazy. But as crazy as this book is, it is also VERY VERY romantic and your heart breaks for Gia and Dravin the whole time. And Jess is another heartbreak itself. I got so angry in this book but also so taken with their love 😭😭😭
And the end had my hair up ! Goosebumps ! Shock ! Wow ! Going immediately to the second.

I can’t. I just can’t. DNF after three chapters. I had a long review about this book but accidentally cancelled it. Probably just as well.

The main point was this: juvenile, bad writing, with sentences such as:

“…I spent the whole day unpacking and settling in and agreed to go with Jess to a popular bar close to campus the next day.

We enter a bar close to campus the next day like we agreed. Jess seems nice and offered to hang out which I can appreciate.”
~~~~
“When I slide my pants up, the toilet automatically flushes, and I’m heading to the sink to wash my hands. I watch has the water rinses the soap off my hands swirling into the drain forming little bubbles”
Also, the lack of contractions when they speak…. 20+ year old college students saying things like ‘I do not’ or ‘it is fine’ sounds ridiculous. And if you read it with a monotone cadence, I promise it’ll start sounding like bad actors reading a bad script.
This has really high ratings, so I guess it must be me. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. My boat sank to the abyss with this one.
This book was so good, I've been in a reading slump for close to 4 months now and this book got me out of it 😩 I finished this book in a few hours cause of how good it was.
Gia is a girl who won't just fall for any guy. she wants to save herself for marriage and won't let college boys get to her. they have to work for her, which i absolutley love.
Driavin. DRAVIN. he is so hot I kid you not. this man takes whatever he wants and when he finally sees something he can't get, he sets out to get it. He breaks my heart 100 times in this book and peices it back together 101 times. I love him with all my heart.
When I realized this book ended and there wasn't actually more I was kinda upset ITS LIKE WATCHING A TV SERIES W 1 SEASON. I WANT MORE 😩😩.
WARNING WARNING WARNING: NOT SAFE
changing my rating after reading the second book because this book IS NOT SAFE AND CONTAINS CHEATING i don’t give a shit what you call it.
and also. get a fucking editor. i can look over typos and shit which should be saying something if i’m calling this shit out. it’s not even simple mistakes like misspelled words, it’s basic grammar and placement of quotation marks and even going as far to putting THE WRONG POV. they’ll say it’s one characters POV when it’s really the others (this error specifically in the second book) the rest you literally find with every book this author writes. and this has to be like the fourth or fifth i’ve read? yeah. i’m pretty much done with this author after the other series turned out to be a shit show as well but at least it was more bearable and less cheaty if you know what i mean.
This is a dark romance, so make sure to check the trigger warnings.
Gia is a 21-year-old college student at Kenyan University, and she’s the new girl on campus. Dravin Beckford is the son of one of the founding families. He has a reputation, but everyone knows not to f*ck with him or either of his friends, Valen and Reid.
Dravin wants Gia, and nothing is going to stop him from having her. He is obsessed with her and calls her Raven. The problem is that he’s not the only one that wants her. Sure, people know not to f*ck with him, but there’s a secret society and rules that even he has to adhere to. There were so many moments where I hated Dravin and loved him. I mean, he has that whole “touch her and die” vibe going on, and he’s very possessive of her. He even opens up to Gia about some of his past.
I will say that I didn’t really see their relationship develop. It was like one minute, Gia wanted nothing to do with Dravin and then she was in love with him.
Anyway, this ended on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next book!
Dear god. I really wanted to like this. I loved the idea of this book, but I DNF because of the writing. I'm sorry to say the writing is absolutely terrible. It’s written like a child writes an essay. Long-winded and poorly structured.
If you managed to get through it and enjoyed it, I’m jealous. Personally, I can’t do it.
4.5 STARS!!!
This is my first book from this author, and it won't be my last. I devoured this book. This story was not as dark as I expected but I truly it. The characters, the suspense, the games, the control, the steamy scenes, the twists and turns, and the ending made for a very interesting story. There were a few parts in this story that were a bit redundant, but it really didn't take away from the story. I enjoyed Gianna (Gia), Jesse (Jess), Dravin, Valen and Reid but this story has both good and evil characters. Gia was not good at heeding warnings, and I thought she was a bit too emotional for someone she barely knew, but I liked that she was not a completely weak character. Dravin is an interesting character and even though I wanted to throat punch him a few times, I enjoy him. I'm still a little unsure about where Jess, Valen and Reid stand with everything. Veronica and Warren aren't going anywhere as there's more trouble to cause and lives to ruin. I'm excited to read how everything plays out in the next book especially with that cliffhanger ending. This is just the first book in the series but it's one I will be recommending to my book loving friends.
This book needs an editor. Veronica is first described as having black hair then it changes to blonde. Gia’s Dads mistress/girlfriend was called Stephanie then it changed to Carolyn.
Also, Gia declaring she’s ‘in-love’ with Dravin after only meeting him like 5 times, having no more than a few conversations with him AND on the same day he pied her off and got a BJ from another girl. 🙄 Gia girlie, can you be more pathetic? Your bestie/roommate has told you so many times this boy likes to pump and dump girls like there’s no tomorrow so i don’t understand her falling head over heels in love with him when he’s done nothing but be a broody emo.
The plot had potential but it just got boring. Secret society shit is interesting to read but this book didn’t get into it at all. And Gia wasn’t a relatable character, she kept running hot and cold with Darvin it was annoying. He literally fucked her on a rug, and after taking her virginity he walks away and tells her to see herself out? Then pictures of the virgin blood filled rug get shared by Veronica shaming Gia for being part of a bet. And what does Gia do when she comes across Darvin after all the shit he done to her? Drops her panties like they’re on fire and spreads her legs. Literally. She overhears her bestie getting fucked by two guys so that puts her in the mood to get fucked by the guy who used her. And that was enough to forgive him, because he done it to “protect her”.
If Gia fought back more, and a backbone and wasn’t a simpering mess then it wouldn’t have been as bad a read.
Dnf 10% im kinda mad. The synopsis intrigued me. I thought it was gonna be not perfect but good. Well it was neither. The writing is soo bad and childish. I couldn’t associate it to a college senior. The execution was bad. And that was only 10% of the book. If it was this bad in the beginning imagine during 💀🔪 no thank u ☠️
This was like a dark Cruel Intentions right down to the "destroy her and I'll let you put it wherever you want." (insert laughing emoji) I almost DNF this one just because of this alone. Wait, no Veronica actually said pootie....yeah that was also a big WTF. But seriously I actually started to get into it after that. Really liked the backbone in our girl Gia and most definitely loved Dravin. I can't wait to learn more of this secret society that seems to run the school and see if Gia can fit into it especially with what happens at the end and the bomb that was dropped on her.
Really loved Jess, Gia's roommate and can't wait to learn more of her story because that girl has some secrets. Definitely want more Reid and Valen.
If you like strong willed characters, a protective male lead with a soft side for specifically one person this is a great read. There are so many layers and all of the tropes are deliciously done to the point of making me want to read more even after the book ended!.
Gia moves away during her senior year. She then meets Dravin at her new school. He is part of the elite and one of the original founding families. Dravin is then hottest man Gia has ever seen. Dravin is a one night stand type of man. They get to know each other and both are intrigued and they can’t stop seeing each other. This book gave me Cruel Intention vibes!.
Thirst
By: Carmen Rosales
4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
3.5/5 🌶🌶🌶
Ohhhhh fuck!! That cliffyy was brutal! I need to know more! Give me the second book please! 😂
I did not expect to like this book so much. But it pulled me in so quick. Gia is a badass. I love how she don't give a shit about who Darvin is. She gives him the cold shoulder and makes him work for it. There is times that she gave in but she truly changed him.
Gia is a new student at this Fancy Elite catholic college, who is finishing up her senior year. She meets this strange, goth boy, who basically runs the school, with his other two best friends. They are dark, and control everything around them. They are The founder sons. The society of sin, hunting the pray to do whatever the feel pleased. Gross really lol 😂
Darvin, with his mismatch eyes, his goth personality, and his way of persuasive Gia was sparkling. He wanted her from the first moment he saw her. His Raven, with her black stunning hair, the body of a goddess. I swoon when he took her in the shower, the way he took care of her.. oh soo swooning! ( Get your head out of the gutter because it wasn't like that alright 🤣😍) That comes later later.
Gia, with her pure heart and pure soul, never been touched by any man. She was a breath of fresh air. I love her personality, they way she still say good in Darvin, even though the rumors said otherwise. I mean he is the devil, but they say, a devil was once a angel. And he was like that with her. A angel who has pain behind his eyes, who controls and destroys anything he don't like. But Not his Raven. He feel deep, even when he though love was a weakness.
But this book will give you more then just be swooning for these too. There is more to the story. The betrayal, the bet, The Order that need to be followed or your dead. All the twists and secrecy is driving me crazy. I really like this story. It intrigued me from the start. Darvin and Gia have a long way to go and with this cliffy, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting on what happens next!
This book was like a crazy roller coaster ride with all the ups and downs but that cliff hanger?? Hell yeah!!
I love the character build up and it really gave me an idea of how each of them are.
Dravin is an over possessive, touch her and di3 character when it comes to Giana aka Gia. One who wants to protect her and consume her. To claim her as his and his alone.
Dravin is so hot and cold and at times I loved him and other times, I wanted to kick him in the balls!! He is a character that you want to hate, but can't help but love?? 🤔
Gia is an innocent school girl on her first year at college and becomes roomies with Jess. They hit it off and become BFFs right away.
Jess advises her about the guys in school and which ones to stay far away from. Unfortunately, Gia becomes obsessed with one of the bad boys, Dravin. His good looks and charm sucked her right in.
Jess has had a hard life at home and has gone through so much. She tries to protect Gia from going through what she did at the college, but Gia is too caught up to listen and pays a price.
This book was hard to put down and I flew right through it. The character and world building was fantastic!! I was able to connect with with characters and thier surroundings easily.
There are some resemblances like other dark college romance books but I loved the story and the twist. That cliff hanger was fantastic and I can't wait to dig in to book 2!!
There is some spice and I will say 3 on the 🌶 scale. But please read the trigger warnings first!! This book is dark and some themes may be too dark for some people.
Now, my reason for 3 stars and not 4 was due to the spelling and grammatical errors. While I can overlook it, it does drive me nuts when reading.🤷 Better proof reading is needed.
Thirst by Carmen Rosales.
Thank you Carmen and IndieSage PR for the ARC.
Dark college romance
Touch her and die vibes
Billionaire
Secret society
This was my first time reading work by Carmen. The cover brought me in and I’m glad I stuck around. Thirst is book one in the Prey series. It is a great opener and set up for next book, which I can’t wait for. Dravin comes from an elite secret society and has his entire life set up for him. Whatever he wants, is his. But he didn’t see Gia coming. She’s not from their world and he can’t stay away from her. He’s not the only one vying for Gia’s attention. The game is set and Dravin will do whatever it takes to win.
“Even in the dark, I fell right into you…and we fit perfectly.”
“All I know is that you belong to me. It is what I feel and what I know.”
“There is no emptiness or lies inside of you. Your soul is not on the other side but with mine. Always.”
I’m still not sure how I feel about this book. For one, I did like it. And it kept me wanting to read more. I seen a post saying this series is similar to The Ritual. The Ritual is my favorite book. So that made me have high expectations. That’s where things go wrong. I start comparing the two books. I didn’t want to, but I couldn’t help it. Now it did have The Ritual vibes somewhat. Mainly for the secret society, the gothic type atmosphere and the dark college theme.
I didn’t really connect with the characters that much. The relationship between Gia and Draven seemed rushed and you didn’t really get to see the development of it. One minute she hates him and the next she’s already in love with him.
I also felt like the story could’ve been more. It seemed like a lot was missing. But it also might have been that way on purpose since it’s the first book, so who knows. I don’t want to give up on this series yet. I will give the second book a chance and we’ll see how that goes.
I have seen a lot of people say they absolutely loved this series. So I’m hoping I’ll get more into it.
I enjoyed this book and was entertained from the first page. I will read the next one as soon as it comes out. I liked Gia and Dravin as a couple but I will be honest, I was more excited about the secondary characters and want more of their stories. I liked the back and forth between Gia and Dravin and appreciated the duel points of view. The secret society storyline was a little over the top for my taste but it didn’t take away my enjoyment of this story. I would recommend this book, it set up for a great couple books to follow!.
