The end.
Night Things did a great job wrapping up the Vancity Vampire series. I enjoyed the growth - er death? - of each character. Sad that it's over, but I plan on reading more books from this author.
This series kept getting better and better to this explosive finale. Night Things (book 4 in the 4 part series) brings the characters that have developed so effortlessly over the course of the series to a climatic close. Damien Richard's style is unique and the pacing excellent. The characters are created in such a way that you both feel and care about the protagonists but love reading the antagonist just as much. Eldon, as a character, is vampire lore at its best. Traditional in sense that this takes vampires back to their core features, which so many of us as fans longed for since the birth of "vampire" romance. These are anything but romantic. Richard's Eldon is stone cold period. A superb villain. Jonah is such a well written character that throughout the series you come to know from a child during this traumatic event to now when he has actually become the thing he loathed the most. If you haven't read Night Things, you're missing out but moreso the entire series should be read as a whole. Truly an artful experience. Gory, disturbing and such a provocative story. Can't wait to read more from this writer.
