Have you ever regreted doing something, well victor Frankenstein regreted creating this horible monster that had ruin his life. The genre of this book is fiction because Victor Frankenstein created a human out of dead peoples body parts and brang him back to life. My opinion on this book is I loved this book because first i love how Victor frankenstein is so devoded so his work. ***spoil alert*** Second i like when the monster kills everone that Frankenstein loves.
The conflict of this book is person vs person because Frankenstein's monster and Victor Frankenstein tries to kill each other.Victor Frankenstien's mother died when he was very young.
the characters motivation is to learn how to bring somebody back to life. My favorite part in the book is when Victor finds out who killed everone he loves. A major event that changed Victors life is when he created the monster because he got depressed, and he kept on seeing the monster everwhere even when he was not there
As I finished this, I found myself debating whether to explain why I chose the Great Illustrated Classics version or write a review of this story.
Always love this version, it's part of my childhood, pleading to my parents for a copy or two whenever we went to the bookshop. I braved reading great classics from this series. I think it is not a problem to continue the tradition.
18-year-old Mary Shelley started writing Frankenstein and later published in 1818. She had successfully put me in a difficult situation to side with team Victor Frankenstein or the Creature itself. One is ambitious but unethical, and the other is the victim of one's desirous attitude.
Today we are grateful to have ethics and guidance in pursuing experiments though this too is being challenged. However, to think of today's A.I. era and the rival to win it all, more Frankensteins are at risk of being crafted resulting in the dying of humankind, bigotry and selfishness.
"How can I appeal to you, Victor Frankenstein? How can I convince you that I, too, have suffered? I have been miserable and alone, hated and scorned by all humans, adults and children, all because of you."
"And I hate and scorn myself for having created you!"
Lol. Idk don’t judge me but I found this at the thrift store for $1 and I was intrigued. It was kinda wild story. Wait. Did anyone else think the monsters name was Frankenstein??? Bc no, it was the scientist. The more you know!!
This book is Epic with a great storyline and i just loved it. If you think of Frankenstein you think of a green not-so-scary guy. In truth he is evil with a capital e. i reccomend it to anyone who likes classic horror. But Dr. Frankenstein is either a wuss or he needs to see a doctor because its not normal to faint so much.
This has been the first time that I had read this Classic and so I can't quite compare this version.to the actual original. What I can say is that this series is usually great at bringing the Classics to life while at the same time allowing beginning readers to enjoy the story without getting all tripped up by some of the writing.
Unfortunately, though, the series didn't seem to have the ability to make this one an easier read. The briefness of the book ended up making me wonder how much of the missing time was included in the original while at the best making for patchy reading as one struggled to figure out the time between the events.
Furthermore the doctor agitated me with his general flakiness and almost lack of development. Although he is the main protagonist you don't get to know him much nor some of the other characters who briefly appear.
For a starter it is okay but those who enjoy the Classic horror genre it may be better to get the original beforehand.
This is an adaption of the original Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, making it more suitable for younger readers or those who are very sensitive to horror but want to read Frankenstein. Every other page has beautiful illustrations so it's really 169 pages of text and not 238. The illustrations have that classic murder mystery look seen in books like the Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew but have a style that brings an element of horror. They are absolutely exquisite.
I've never read the original Frankenstein so I can't say if it's a beautiful adaption, but it os horror lite, which is good for me as I am a horror wimp!
I don't love to read fiction stories, or watch horror movies whatever happens in it.
I chose to read the novel to get introduced with the novel, get connected to a different set of words. But I instantly fell in love with the story, the conflict between good and bad, and most importantly the moral of the story.
Unlike most horror novels, the writer emphasized the importance of the triumph of good along the story till the last page. I liked that so much and liked that it's about creating evil but still being able to show good actions and thoughts.
Talk about having your life ruined by a choice you made. I never even seen the movie but I had a basic knowledge of the book. I can't believe Victor couldn't stand to be around his own creation and turned his back on him. Those closes to him suffered the most. This a great classic novel espically fitting to ready durning Halloween.
such a cute way to read this book - loved the illustrations I cant rightfully rate it as it's an abridged version and doesn't display Mary's full ideas
Is a spectacular and tragic novel... Frankenstein is a good person whom society change. It teach us that some "monsters" are best than many "humans". And some "humans" can become to "monsters".
This classic can’t be compared to the original story, but it was still entertaining and a great way to introduce the story to beginner readers knowing this is a middle grade book.
Frankenstein “All I wanted was to have people ignore my ugliness and love me for the goodness inside me. But nobody did. Nobody gave me a chance. All anybody showed me was hatred…”
Robert Walton “Yes, my friend, I would gladly sacrifice my fortune and even my life to gain the knowledge that this voyage could bring. They would be a small price to pay for something that could benefit all mankind.”
Victors Response “Don’t talk that way! You’ll be an unhappy man! As I tell you my story, you’ll see how I devoted my life to seeking knowledge that I believed would benefit mankind. As a result, I brought misery and death to everyone I loved,”
“While I was more interested in investigating why things in nature happened… what secrets the heavens and the earth were hiding from me!”
“That touch created the spark that brought him to life!”
“I stared hard at this creature I had spent two years forming. Once, I had considered this a beautiful piece of work—the result of my life’s dream, but now it filled me with horror and disgust!”
“After well, everyone hates creatures as ugly as I am. But it’s your fault that I’m this ugly. You created me this way.”
“I was a helpless, miserable wretch.”
“If the friend wins, I’ll be dead, and so at peace. If I win, the friend will be dead and I’ll be a free man.”
“I realize now that I am to blame for deserting my creature after I formed him.”
“He is my last victim. I only want him to pardon me now for destroying all the people he loved.”
“I began life as a loving, sympathetic being.”
“He can be very persuasive.”
“You don’t know what it means to be sorry. The only thing you know is hate.”

The book is very interesting it has a lot of unexpected things that happen in the book. The book is interesting as well because there are stories told in stories. Frankenstein was a man that was found in Canada and man on a ship shaved him. He started to tell the man on the ship about what he was doing there. The story was about how Frankenstein brought a creature from the dead. Frankenstein had to survive by himself for three years and learn how to act like a person. The creature wanted revenge on Frankenstein so he started to kill his loved ones and ordered him to make a girl creature. Frankenstein made the girl creature but then destroy it and the boy creature hunted Frankenstein down. Frankenstein later died on the ship and the creature killed himself as well. I really liked the book because it was different and interesting. When I first picked it up from the shelf I thought that this would be a good book to read. When I started to read the book I was very interested and could not stop reading the book. There was always something happening in the story that you just want to keep reading the book. You could not predict what was going to happen next in the story. If you are looking for a good book to read than I would suggest this book very highly.
This book was all about a scientist from Germany who created a monster. The scientist had always admired the human body and had a dream of creating life. Once he did he was horrified by the creature he had made. The monster was ridiculed and the monster blamed the scientist. The monster found his family and killed almost all of them. The scientist vowed to have his revenge so he hunted him down and so on.
This was an extremely good book. It was filled with twists and turns and that is what I look for in a book. The author did an amazing job of getting me into the book. I don like to read books that much but I literally yelled at the book at certain points because I got really into the story. My overall opinion is that it was an amazing book and I would definitely recremend it to someone.
Frankenstein is about a man trying to study the human and death. In his research he on accident brings someone back to life. When the monster runs away from his lab he try to forget all about it. Though he doesn't see it for many years it comes back for revenge. Then the monster disappears again. The man tries to find him and with effort looks everywhere he can. In the end Frankenstein kills himself because he feels unwanted from society. I thought this book was easy to read and was fun too. The book doesn't take long for it to reach it's climax .The book had scary feel to it and made me want to read more. The characters worked well together and had good relationships. Most of the book was flashbacks but it was fun reading the book like this. This book all together was fun to read and i didn't fell bored at all through it.

Wow, wow, what a story. I badly wanted to know the story but did not have the time or energy for the original. So I picked up this kids adaptation. It's a fight between good and evil, and also there comes the question of what is good and what is evil. It is relative to every person. One overarching theme I found in the whole story was the need to get love and validation. Outside beauty doesn't matter compared to inner beauty - this was another theme. It had a beautiful description of Europe ❤️. I will read the original soon. I found very little horror in this adaptation 😅, maybe to suit younger audience.
I read this book because I teach a class of struggling junior high readers so I was looking for a high interest /low level spooky/Halloween read. I have yet to read the original version but pray it is more exciting than this one...as this was rather dry and depressing. The illustrations did not help the story either-they were rather poor.
However if you have a junior high student or even a struggling high school reader or ELL student, this may be a good adaptation or way to differentiate if teaching this novel to help the student get the basic concept of the novel.
I didn't know it was a children's book right off the bat, which is totally my fault because it has pictures on every page and huge font. I had my suspicions but didn't really know until I was 50 pages in.
I decided to finish it since I knew it was going to be quick. I wish I didn't because now it takes some of the mystery out of the original Frankenstein when I read it.
The book is probably great for young readers, but it wasn't what I was looking for. I did find it is a free library in the neighborhood, so I can't complain about a book to read when every library is shut down.
Having never read Frankenstein before, and as this is a "specially adapted version," I'm not sure how directly it represents Shelley's original. That being said, while I did not particularly enjoy the overly simplified style and patterns of writing, the book is generously littered with quite nice illustrations by Pablo Marcos Studio, and as far as I can tell it seems to give a very accessible version of the narrative. The cover by Joseph Miralles is also quite nice, as an illustrator I appreciate this copy most for the wealth of drawings inside.
This book was stupid. Here's the book in one sentence: a guy created a monster, it killed a few people, and then killed itself in the end. This book is too repetitive with death being the only thing that happens over and over.
I read this book to my son in the last year or two. I did not like it. I am glad to have some knowledge of this storyline though, especially since Frankenstein is a well known character. But this story was just plain weird and creepy.
Like most people, I’d heard the story of Frankenstein a bunch of times before I read the actual book. But wow, the book was so much better than any other version! I got hooked on Shelley’s writing really fast and started getting really interested in her.
