USA Today bestselling author PJ Fiala brings you the GHOST Legacy series—heroes willing to sacrifice everything in service to their country, and for the men and women they love. A novel with no cliffhanger, no cheating, and a happily-ever-after guaranteed.
I was born in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri named Bridgeton. During my time in Missouri, I explored the Ozarks, swam in the Mississippi River, played kickball and endless games of hide and seek with the neighborhood kids. Spending summers in Kentucky with my Grandmother, Ruth, are the fondest childhood memories for me.
At the age of thirteen, my family moved to Wisconsin to learn to farm. Yes, learn to farm! That was interesting. Taking city kids and throwing them on a farm with twenty-eight cows purchased from the Humane Society because they had been abused, was interesting. I learned to milk cows, the ins and outs of a breeding schedule, feeding schedule and the never ending haying in the summer and trying to stay warm in the winter. Our first winter in Wisconsin, we had thirty-six inches of snow in one storm and were snowed in our house for three days! Needless to say, I wasn’t loving Wisconsin.
I am now married with four children and three grandchildren. I have learned to love Wisconsin, though I still hate snow. Wisconsin and the United States are beautiful and my husband and I travel around by motorcycle seeing new sites and meeting new people. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are interested in where we are going and what we have seen along the way. At every gas station, restaurant and hotel, we have people come up to us and ask us about what we are doing and offering advice on which roads in the area are better than others and great rides others have been on if we are interested.
I come from a family of veterans. My grandfather, father, brother and two of my sons and one daughter-in-law are all veterans. Needless to say, I am proud. Proud to be an American and proud of the service my amazing family has given.

What a great kick off to the next generation of GHOST. With a fast-paced, danger packed, suspenseful story with mysteries and secrets revealed, this story keeps your attention. Tate finds his soulmate amongst the drama of the team's new assignment in Lara, who unfortunately for her seems to be centered in the danger... but fortunately for her she has Tate and his family and the GHOST family at her back. When the dust settles, their happy ending can begin. Rose Dioro and Troy Duran do an awesome job with narration as always.
Tate and his team arrive into town and are greeted with a hail of bullets, not the welcome they expected! I love seeing this second generation of GHOST operatives, it is fascinating to see how each of the children are a mix of the skills, specialities and personalities of their parents. An intriguing start to the series this quickly has you invested in Tate, his team and the town, I look forward to the next book.
This is the first book in the GHOST Legacy Series, a Military Romance, and next generation series. Tate and Lara's story is fast-paced, suspenseful, and captivating, filled with action, mystery, romance, and twists and turns. Tate is Gaige and Sophie's son, from Defending Sophie (GHOST Series book 2). He is handsome, enigmatic, and protective. Lara is beautiful, smart, and strong. They are perfect together. The storyline is engaging, and entertaining. Excellent narration from Troy Duran and Rose Dioro. I enjoyed it. PJ Fiala never disappoints. Looking forward to more in the series! #StoryOrigin
i loved GHOST. i loved RAPTOR. but i freakin' adore GHOST Legacy!
GHOST Legacy brings us the Stories of the grown-up Children of the original GHOST Operators.
They are charged with the Security for the building of a new Military Fort... and they'll have their Hands full to keep the Builders and the small Town where it's located safe.
Finding Lara is the Story of Tate Vickers and Lara Bennit.
GHOST continues with the next generation taking charge. Tate Vickers, son of GHOST operatives, Gaige and Sophie Vickers, is assigned to run GHOST’S satellite office in Glen Hollow, Kentucky. He along with his teammates will be providing security for a military base being built. Before he even gets to town Tate along with Henry Delany, son Hawk and Roxanne Delany, and Maya Sager, daughter of Dodge and Jax Sager, are caught in a crossfire of bullets. When Tate questions Officer Bennit about why he did not chase the guys shooting at them up the hill, Officer Bennit explains the town has a treaty with them. Maya and Henry managed to capture one of the men but were informed due to the treaty with the Black Road Resistance (BRR) he was to be let go.
Lara Bennit, daughter of Officer Keaton Bennit, owns a bakery in Glen Hollow. Her bakery has been ransacked and items stolen by the Black Road Resistance (BRR) group. Lara is upset because her dad will not do anything about it. Tate sees Officer Bennit’s vehicle at the bakery and stops in to talk to him. Tate and Lara appear to be taken with each other and Tate offers to help.
Tate and his team need to determine what is going on with the BRR as they have been causing problems at the base work site. The BRR have been breaking into businesses in town and appears to be targeting Lara Bennit. Tate offered to help install a security system at Lara’s bakery. While at the bakery, Tate asks Lara whether or not the new kid from the BRR has some blackmail on her dad. Is Lara’s dad being blackmailed? What secret is he keeping?
As Lara and Tate grow closer together, thing heat up with the BRR. Tate’s parents, Gaige and Sophie, decide to come to Glen Hollow to help out. While taking out the trash, Lara is kidnapped. Why was Lara kidnapped and what plans to the kidnappers have for her? What misdeeds has Lara’s father done to warrant her being kidnapped? Tate, his parents and his team gear up to find Lara. Will they be able to find her in time? Who will die?
Finding Lara is the first book in the GHOST Legacy series. It is well written and has plenty of action, suspense and danger to keep you interested in reading. I enjoyed seeing how the children of the GHOST operatives have all grown up and now they are GHOST operatives.
Finding Lara is the exciting first book in the GHOST Legacy series – children of the original GHOST operatives all grown up. *You can find the story of Tate’s parents (Gaige Vickers and Sophie Turner) in Defending Sophie, GHOST book 2. This book is Tate Vickers and Lara Bennit’s story.
Tate and his team of operatives are tasked with the job of getting the remote satellite location for their office up and running in Glen Hollow, Kentucky. Little did they know that they’d be walking into the middle of trouble between the town and the people on the mountain, the Black Road Resistance (BRR). Their welcome to their new town consists of a high-speed chase and gunfire and it gets even worse from there. Break-ins, vandalism, robbery, taunting, and threats are all part of the new normal for Glen Hollow from the BRR, and it’s escalating with the possibility of war from the residents up the mountain in the BRR’s Hickory Hills encampment. There are years of town history, treaties, and promises layered with deception, betrayal, and secrets that will be exposed in the end, and several lives are damaged when years of truths are revealed. Unfortunately, Lara, the town’s baker is right in the middle of it along with her sickly mother and her father; who is an officer in the Glen Hollow PD.
It's love at first sight for Tate and Lara and their relationship develops quickly in the middle of all the danger and chaos along with threats to Lara that end with her being kidnapped. Tate will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of all the lies and rescue Lara before it’s too late.
This book is a great start to the new series! It’s full of suspense, danger, deception, betrayal, humor, friendship, and romance. It’s engaging from the beginning and I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the GHOST Legacy team.
Finding Lara GHOST Legacy 1 By PJ Fiala Narrated by Troy Duran and Rose Dioro
Now this is what I love. A book with history, romance and on the edge suspense! PJ Fiala has begun the next generation of the GHOST team, bringing those kids we know into adulthood! The team has opened a satellite in Kentucky, and you would think everything would be quiet! Frequenting the local bakery, Tate is not only taken with the delicious cookies, but the baker, Lara. So when her bakery is broken into several times, he is there, bringing in the team and making her store safe. But is that enough? There is so much more happening than just a break in. The hills have a secret, one that is sure to blow up the town. Will the GHOST operatives be able to take it on? Are the kids going to prove they are ready? And will Tate be able to keep Lara safe? Love this! Not only do we get to see the next generation at work, but there are cameos by some of the parents! Tate gives off that alpha male feel, but has the warmth of a hug when he is with Lara. Lara proves her strength, continuing her baking, never giving up, yet she has that vulnerable little girl feel when it comes to her parents. I loved this listen and am looking forward to the next story!
Troy Duran and Rose Dioro start off this series with a bang! Knowing the GHOST operatives, they understand the characters and bring all the thrills and romance alive. Duran is perfect as Tate, the protectiveness, the big heart, yet ruthless when he needs it. Dioro creates Lara with a hint of innocence, a lot of perserverence and loyalty unbounded. Love this team as always!
Tate Vickers and his group were going to Glen Hollow, Kentucky to protect a military base being built. Tate is a recon specialist and runs the GHOST Satellite office and is the son of Gaige and Sophie Vickers, GHOST operatives. Sounds easy but on his way in he has shots being fired at him and the officer won't do anything about it saying it's the people from up the hill known as the Black Road Resistance. Lara Bennit owns her bakery, Lara's Delights and loves what she does. When her bakery is broken into several times and they steal ingredients her frustration grows and nothing is being done about it. As she's standing in her bakery surveying the damage done this time Tate walks in to talk to her dad, Officer Bennit. She goes off on her dad about all the problems and things happening and that she's getting a security system installed to catch them and Tate offers to help her. She feels a calming influence around him and with his offer of help she's thinking it will all be ok. Tate loves cookies so he stops in every morning to get cookies along with coffee and they start to get close and fall for each other. Things start heating up and more problems are occurring around the town with Lara being targeted as well. Can Tate keep her safe?
The younger generation has joined GHOST, the Government Hidden Ops Specialty Team in which their parents served, years ago. Tate Vickers and his team are in the small town to secure the construction of a military installation. The town and the installation are plagued by a group known as the Black Road Resistance that have lived in the hills for over sixty years. Recently, the BRR has vandalized the town including Lara Bennit’s bakery. Tate arrives at the bakery after it has been trashed for the third time and offers to install a security system. Why now, has the BRR decided to wreak havoc on the town? Lara is worried that it has something to do with her father, who as a town deputy is unable to stop them. Tate is slowly falling in love with Lara, and her cookies, and when Lara is abducted, will he be able to rescue her before it is too late? Romance, suspense and I enjoyed the relationships between this new generation and the mention of their parents from previous stories. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation, from the author, for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
I have read all of the GHOST series prior to reading Finding Lara and I had a difficult time connecting with this story. Tate Vickers is the now grown up son of Gage and Sophie Vickers. He is now an operative with his parent's business. He and his team have been sent to a small Kentucky town to help out at a military base that is having troubles with people who live up on the nearby mountain. Tate meets local girl Lara Bennit after her bakery has been attacked by those same mountain people. Her father is the local sheriff's deputy but he has been useless in protecting her. I know that all storylines are fictional (or sometimes derived from fact) but I had a real problem accepting this storyline. That being said just because the book wasn't for me that doesn't mean that other readers will not enjoy it. The characters are in their 20's and are definitely protective of their family and friends. The story was told from dual POV. There are a few explicit scenes involving Tate and Lara sprinkled throughout.
This twisty introduction to a new series is an engaging immersion to the steamy roller-coaster that is a PJ Fiala story. The story takes you from the first day of Tate’s landing in the town and meeting Lara, through the twists and turns of their steamy interludes.
If you love PJ Fiala’s stories, you will love this. While it stands alone, you will see the potential for future romantic and engaging tales with the characters introduced.
If you are not familiar – this is a great introduction. It has serious steamy romps in the sheets, a protective male, and a strong heroine.
While I listened to the story, it’s definitely going to pull you in and keep you up at night as a book, as well. Either delivery will make you glad you found this story. In particular, in audio, the listening was easy because of the smooth – and “pull you in” – narration. (I mowed the lawn to listen to “just one more chapter” – making this well worth getting!).
While I received this audiobook as an ARC, this is my honest review.
What a brilliant start to a great new series. It was great to follow the lives of the children of the original GHOST operatives, this book follows Tate, as he and his operatives are setting up a new office. The team end up caught in the crossfire between the town and a group of people living off-grid in the mountains. Tate meets Lara, the owner of the local bakery and immediately the chemistry between the two of them is clear. The road to true love is definitely not straightforward as the pair get embroiled in the battle between the two sides and old secrets are revealed as the true extent of the danger become clear. An exciting story plot, a strong heroine and a gorgeous hero all make for a fantastic read. It was also great to catch up with Gaige and Sophie from the original series. There was also a tantalising peek into the next instalment so needless to say I will be author stalking until that one come out! I highly recommend this book
It's so exciting to get another series with GHOST operatives. This series is the next generation - the children of the original GHOST operatives and this book is such a great start to the series. Tate Vickers is in charge of setting up a satellite office in Glen Hollow, KY. The team's first job is to provide security for the new military institution from the incidents that they think the Black Road Resistance is responsible for. They soon find that the towns people are also being targeted, especially Lara Bennit who owns Lara's Delights.
As the story progresses, questions arise as to why the group has started escalating their destructive behavior, why doesn't the deputy do anything about it, and why is Lara being targeted? From the start there is an attraction between Tate and Lara that only grows stronger as they spend more time together. There is plenty of suspense, danger, mystery, humor, and great characters in this story. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this series.
This is a great series starter - where the children of the prior GHOST operatives are keeping up the tradition under GHOST Legacy.
Tate and his team are hired to protect a government construction site in Glen Hollow KY. There is a group called Black Road Resistance which has a treaty with the town, but both sides are changing terms, and local businesses are feeling the brunt of the vandalism.
Most impacted is Lara, owner of the local bakery - as they are after her sugar, and seem to have a personal vendetta against her. Tate becomes fond of her cookies and her company.
Events escalate, and secrets come to light. It will take the team, and then some to keep everyone safe.
An exciting and romantic read, which will keep you glued to the page.
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
What a perfect way to reconnect with the original GHOST operatives as we now start to follow the stories of their children and this time it is Tate Vickers the son of Gaige and Sophie (their story is Defending Sophie) He is the new lead of the team that has been sent to Glen Hollow, Kentucky but something isn't right in the town a local group that has seceded is creating trouble and the local police force is doing nothing about it. One of their main targets is local baker Lara Bennit only child of the deputy Why isn't he protecting his daughter Now she has a new protector in Tate because this man doesn't only have a taste for her cookies but he loves her sweet taste as well and he and his team will do whatever they need to protect her and the D establishment been built near the town. Can't wait for more exciting books in this series
A great start to a new series Always love to see what P J Fiala comes out with. Her books are stories true to your heart and once you start you will not stop until the final word. Finding Lara will have you on the edge of your seat. Tate and Lara have an instant attraction. Tate also feels protective of her. He doesn’t like what is going on with the BRR and the fact that her father is no help to her and against the BRR, Tate takes it upon himself to protect her. Finding Lara is an enjoyable read and at times it has you thinking why the BRR are causing such havoc and also makes you want to throat punch some of their people. P J Fiala once again gives readers exactly what they expect, pure perfection. She never disappoints and always delivers, anxiously awaiting for what will happen next with these great characters.
The children of GHOST have grown up and have moved to Glen Hollow, KY to start their own satellite group. When they arrive, Tate stops at a bakery to sample the cookies and finds the bakery was vandalized and the pretty baker shaken. Tate goes into protective mode and he soon is embroiled in a townie versus sovereign nation battle that not only is destroying the military base being built but harassing the townfolk, but Lara is specifically targeted. Tate and Lara find love during the investigation as more secrets are revealed as to the connection between Lara's father and the sovereign nation.
Loved this book and couldn't put it down. I haven't read the GHOST series yet, and never felt that I was missing anything while reading this book.
This is the 1st book in the Ghost Legacy series by an amazing author PJ Fiala This is Tate Vickers (GHOST operative, Gaige Vickers and Sophie Turner from Saving Sophie) and Lara Bennit’s(Bakery Owner) story. Tate and his team comprised of Ghost member’s kids is providing security for the new military for that is being built in Kentucky. He meets Lara when he goes into her bakery and discovers that it has been vandalised, but not for the first time! He just loves her cookies, as well as being totally attracted to her. He goes into protective mode and vows to keep her safe when the people start coming down the mountain, her father even though he is a deputy isn’t helping, something is definitely not right. So sit back and enjoy the roller coaster ride that this book provides. I look forward to the next instalment.
When Tate, the new generation of GHOST relocates to a small town with his team, he doesn’t expect to find Lara, a bakery owner and someone he can’t stop thinking about after they meet. She is tied up in the mess that Tate and his team are there to help remedy and seems to be targeted by the group he is there to keep an eye on. As incidents keep happening and her dad, who happens to be keeping secrets of his own, it will take Tate and his team to save Lara from the group who has targeted her. A great start to a new series with the kids all grown up and following in the footsteps of their parents. A read with suspense, secrets, surprises, steam and great characters with more to come. I was just missing as to what happened to Kent after all that went down. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
The children of the men and women that we have come to love in the GHOST series are here and it starts off with a bang. Tate and fellow members of his team find themselves in Kentucky where they are to provide protection. Their arrival turns into a dangerous encounter however his search for law enforcement brings him to Lara and it quickly becomes apparent that she needs protecting as well.
Lara has grown weary of the group of people who have targeted her bakery and the lack of response to bring them to justice. She never expected that Tate, a newcomer to town, would be her biggest support system especially when she finds herself caught in crossfire.
Despite everything going on in town the chemistry and connection between Tate and Lara is undeniable as they take us quite the ride filled with intrigue, adventure and love.
I really enjoyed reading Finding Lara . It's a sensational suspense romance from start to finish . Tate Vickers is a Ghost operative he and his team arrive in the small town Glen Hollow , Kentucky . An amazing story that will have you hooked from the very start. Lara owns the bakery in town but it has yet again been targeted by the local people living up the mountains. Tate is part of the GHOST team who are trying to set up a new office in a new town but don’t realise they are walking into a hostile environment. Tate soon learns that the town is becoming dangerous for everyone and is determined to help the people of the town, especially Lara, who owns the bakery. There is an instant attraction between Lara and Tate and very quickly a relationship between them grows, and when Lara’s life ends up in danger, Tate will do anything to save her. An amazing, action packed story with lots of suspense, secrets, twists and turns and passion, you definitely won’t be disappointed with this book! I can’t wait for more in the series.
Lara owns a little bakery in her small town of Glen Hollow, Kentucky. Her father is deputy sheriff but when the people who live in the hills keep breaking into her bakery, he does absolutely nothing. Tate is second generation GHOST operatives. He and his teammates come to town to provide security for a military base being built there. Tate is ready to take on the BRR Black Road Resistance to keep Lara safe. But the vandalism gets worse and then Lara is kidnapped. Tate will bring the whole mountain down to get Lara back.
Great story. Action. Sex. Secrets. Lara is beautiful, sweet, and sassy. Tate is handsome, smart, and protective. The secrets might just destroy Lara’s world. The only problem I had was sometimes I couldn’t tell who was talking. Some of the dialogue ran together. But I loved it anyway.
The book has romance, suspense & is full of deception. We meet Tate who goes to Glen Hollow to open a new branch of GHOST. He also is tasked with protecting the building of a new army base from the radical group BBR. As the animosity between the town and BBR quickly escalates, Tate realizes there is a an undercurrent running alongside all the activities and Lara, the local baker is caught in the middle of it. This is the base to the storyline, which I enjoyed. A new series with a mixture of much loved old characters and their off spring. An interesting beginning that is fast paced and not to be missed. Another excellent story from PJ Fiala. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
