The Enchanted Kingdom #1

Enchanted Kingdom

Rate this book
Some women in Wylan had dreamt of this day. Some pined and planned for it their entire lives.

Chosen for the Assemblages of Consorts, Jorah Demir will have the opportunity to vie for the twin crown princes’ affections. Though no one knows which prince will eventually rule, they are two of the most powerful Enchanted in all the kingdom.

Not only is a chance for a crown at stake, but also a small drop of the royal bloodline's magic. Jorah isn’t interested in either. Both princes are Enchanted, the very type of people responsible for her father’s murder.

From the lowest level of the kingdom and without magic, she is forced to go above the walls of Wylan and into the castle itself. She only has one goal: to avoid the crown princes and not, under any circumstances, form an attachment with either one of them.

Surrounded by Enchanted at every turn, she soon learns not all are as evil as she assumed. And when the king's magic doesn’t affect her, everything Jorah thought she knew is called into question.

i had high expectations for this one because i’ve heard so many good things about it, but honestly it just fell flat for me.
the story is essentially the selection but the girls are competing for two princes and there’s also magic involved. i was hooked because i looove the selection so much. but it felt like a rip off of the selection more than anything else. there’s two character names that are literally the same as the selection?? (silvia & tiny) there are so many plot points that are the same as the selection.
i did enjoy the characters a lot. especially kieran, krewen, and owen. but i was confused for most of the story about who the MMC was supposed to be. i went into it thinking it was a love triangle (which i’m not a huge fan of anyways) but then we also got introduced to owen, who is her guard & they have chemistry and kind of flirt with each other too. so three MMC’s got a little confusing.
the first half was super intriguing but it got sooo repetitive. so many chapters starting with a some variation of “another day, another ball” with nothing really happening to advance the plot.
jorah kind of acted like a child and got so worked up about things that weren’t that deep. it reminded me of the girls on the bachelor who get mad when the bachelor kisses other girls as if that wasn’t what they signed up for in the first place.
i kind of want to keep reading the others only because there’s some intrigue about the rebellion starting and there’s a wolf in the woods she befriended at the end, but i don’t know if i will because there’s ending of this book just left me so unsatisfied and not in a “i NEED to read the next book now” kind of way.
i don’t know, this was just a miss for me unfortunately. but it was entertaining enough & i liked some aspects of it.

Sometimes I felt like reading a book about 5 year old.

Level of entitlement this girl has is huge.
It doesn't make sense with her character and background story. But this book isn't well thought through.

Romance didn't pull me in. There was no chemistry. Big love after 6 days isn't for me. Their romance felt forced and was tiring.

Characters were flat and boring.

Besides the romance there was not much else in the book.

Engaging story. A few grammar mistakes. Decent plot.

For my clean readers: romance-kissing, talk of sexual partners, but no details. Language-lots, but no f-bomb. Violence-attempted murder, murder, fighting, insinuated intent of rape, and torture.

The most perfect book! It had ALL of the components that I guess I need in a book (I’m starting to learn that now). Great character development, great imagery, you learn to love certain character quickly, captivating story line… I just loved it all and can’t wait to read the next book!

Not for me. Really, just the Bachelor, with a splash of intrigue and magic. Ends as cliffhanger and I would not read on except that I purchased book 2 on sale previously. Dialogue is modern day while setting is in the past, which seems discordant to me.

This was a super fun read, once I started I literally couldn’t stop. It’s giving the selection and the summer I turned pretty? So good. Plus the whole series is free on kindle unlimited so that’s even better.

This was a 4.5 for me! I loved the plot and the characters, I stayed up way too late multiple nights reading this. I wished the romance had a bit more development, that’s why it isn’t a 5 star for me. Already starting the second one!

I loved this book! It’s like royalty and magic meets the bachelorette. The perfect amount of drama and perfect amount of mystery! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Best Read Ever!!

I LOVED this book! This is my second series by Mrs. Wentworth and holy Freaking amaze balls! This was straight 🔥 It is so well written and flowed so smoothly it had my attention from beginning to end. The emotions she makes you feel throughout should be illegal. I literally went from happy, mad, laughing to crying. An emotional rollercoaster. Jorah is probably one of my favorite characters. A baker from the lowest level in Wylan receives a letter that she was selected to enter in the Assemblages. A chance at becoming queen. The only problem? She hates the "Enchanted" (those with magic) and The royals are the most powerful. As the Assemblages start Jorah finds out that not all 'enchanted' are bad. When she starts letting her heart open up the court games really start to begin. Having "iron will" (immune to magic) has only so many benefits. With the help of her loyal bodyguard, an alpha wolf and a Prince of Darkness Can she survive??? Oh and the cliffhangers it leaves off on...I downloaded book 2 immediately! I HIGHLY recommend this 1000%

3.5 - Not bad

I actually did like this book. I just didn't really like Jorah too much. To me she's a little brat. Besides that it has a good story line and great characters. Krew is my favorite character with just one little hiccup, still not sure how I feel about that. Depends on how the series ends I guess. Keir is ok, a few things about his character that erk me. The story is great has a selection vibe to it. With that being said. Looking forward to book two and hopefully more Krew and to more books by this author. She seems interesting and I like that.

I love Jorah. She seems sometimes a bit younger in her actions but it’s understandable, she is in a totally different world.
And i relate to her soooo much 😅
From being unable to control her face features and look in her eyes to her extremely sarcastic inner voice.

As for the book.
I kinda like Keiran a bit (he’s cute but i feel has the makings to become a villain too?), but i like Owen much more LOL and Krewan (Prince Darkness LOL) and Renna and Molly and Silvia. And Rafe!!!!
And a book with great support characters is one of the ways to my heart ♥️😂
And it also gave me *feels* and her heartache made me tear up. But i like books that give me the feels too, masochist that i am…

I guess some of the things i could see coming, especially the end twist (I didn’t know exactly how it would come to be, but i knew it would)

The think that is making me reticent on rating, is that it felt longer than it actually is.
A fantasy world build is hard and the devil is in the details but i found myself, sometimes, kinda bored, distracted.
Maybe a tiny bit of more edition could have helped. But it’s not too bad. I still dove into book 2 immediately after finishing this one 🤷🏻‍♀️
Like, immediately! 😅

And i know book 3 is only out in March and I’ll hate myself for not waiting till the series was complete to dive in, but I can’t help it…

Gimme more Jorah and her snark and inner sarcasm.
Gimme more of her bossing around all “boys” around her, from guards to chefs to princes.
Gimme more Owen big-bro scoldings 🤣

And yes, much more Rafe!

"Just before he leaned away, he whispered, 'Welcome to the dark side, love'" -Tricia Wentworth

This book was absolutely fantastic. Imagine competing for the prince like The Selection, and the brooding brothers of The Inheritance Games and add a little bit of fantasy magic, and you get this amazing series from Tricia Wentworth. She has been one of my favorite authors, as I absolutely adored The Culling series, but The Enchanted Kingdom is by far now my favorite book I have ever read from her. This action packed, sweet yet steamy, fantasy romance is one of the best I have ever seen and I am so excited to continue reading this series. I am thrilled to continue reading to get the exciting conclusion between Kier, Krew, Owen, and Jorah!

Absolutely loved, 1000/10!

Enchanted Kingdom: Book 1

Tricia Wentworth is an amazing wordsmith who spins a tale of epic proportions... everytime she picks up her pen!!! She doesn't just paint pretty pictures, she delivers the details in a way that pulls you into the pages as if you were actually living the lines.

She is the only author who I have ever gone back and reread a scene because it was just that good.  I also find myself reading so fast so I can get to what happens next, then going back and reading it again and again.

Her newest creation, Enchanted Kingdom, is so absolutely amazing that I'm not sure there are words big enough to do it justice.  Jorah has tied with Regan and Mercy for my all time favorite heroine.  She is an amazing character who will continue to touch lives as a baker or a queen.

I'm going to be honest, magic isn't something I generally find interesting.  If not for it being written by Tricia, I probably wouldn't have chosen this one.  I am so very glad I read it. I cannot wait for the next book!!!

I am an ARC reader and received an advance copy in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Spice🔥just kissing mostly and every once and awhile using the term sleeping together but it’s clean.
Language: swear words occasionally but no F word

As soon as I heard it was like the selection series I picked it up immediately. I’ve been trying to find a book to fill that void since butttttt I felt like this book was a huge ripoff. I felt it had some of the same plot points and it was just sooo similar! I wasn’t here for it. I was hooked in the beginning but the more I read the more boring it got. So many dinners and balls and nothing happening it was very repetitive. I didn’t think her and Keir had any chemistry and was wanting someone else in the book. Jorah cried and whined a lot like I get it but also come onnnnn you know what’s going on.

I think I might continue the series? I don’t know yet. The ending made me a little happier though and gave me hope. Hoping the romance gets better. I don’t need spice but I need something. The book made me laugh at times too so there’s that

I’M OBSESSED!!!!
I was giddy and so in love with every character the entire time! The story follows a bachelor style but fantasy (100x better) the twin princes of the kingdom have to find wives so the king (bad guy btw) invites almost 100 girls from throughout the kingdom to complete for the princes hands. After those chosen get split into separate groups (one for each prince) the story just gets crazy from there!! There is magic, overprotective male characters (swoon!), sisterly friendships, rivalry, danger and a ton of romantic drama.
Even though every character made me fall in love with them, sometime the main female protagonist could irritate me with her lack of understanding for her prince and what he is going through…. BUT I am so obsessed and the writing was quick and easy to get through and be absorbed by! ALSO the ending!!! Like what!! I already brought the next few books in the series cause I’m hooked.

Great book! (light spoilers ahead)

Such a great book and fun read - a “The Selection” meets “Hunger Games” type plot, with a contest for winning the heart of a Prince(s) but with heavy dystopian overtones, with the Haves and Have Nots featuring prominently. Awesome plot, well flushed out characters and SUCH AWESOME WRITING!

My only gripe is the heroine waited way too long to make a decision, and did so after being disrespected so many times. That whole separation sub-plot took way too long & is way too drawn out. I get it, Kier was a schmuck, but after the second time, she should have been like “see ya!”. This girl is way too smart and self-confident to put up with that kind of junk!

Overall great book. I just downloaded the second book so I can jump in tonight!!

Okay … so I don’t know how but I knew immediately she was with the wrong prince. Like from the first time she locks eyes with the ‘cold’ one. But then … it kept … dragging… on … and … on with Keir. And she’s mad he’s kissing others but he loves her? And pretty much to the very edge of where she’s a complete doormat, she finally Finally has it. And boom, next book. Very vexing.

The whole plot and the magic and the mom and the history … nothing ground breaking. Of course this heroine ‘isn’t like the others’ because she doesn’t want to compete in months- long bachelorette/beauty pageant thing. Seriously? Bah. And she wins over everyone so she’s a little too Mary Sue.

I did finish and I did read book two. It was kinda YA

Cute but she seems a bit whiny

The story caught my attention from the get go but I'm not sure if it was because the story was great or if it was due to how similar the storyline is to The Selection. It was really difficult to not compare the two stories.

There are several differences and I love her friendship with her guard.

There are a few parts that do not seem very realistic to me (SPOILERS) - her reason to stay in the prince's wing? That favoritism seems a little much.

She also whines a bunch. Yes, the guy was dating other ladies but she knew that he would be. Seems a bit of a stretch to completely fly off the handle when she found out he was doing exactly what he was supposed to 🤷‍♀️

Enchanted kingdom

Epic fantasy competition for queen story. This novel is beautifully written and well edited. My concern is with the plot. Jorah holds Kier to a ridiculous standard, constantly criticizing him for kissing other candidates, screaming he betrayed her, etc. It's only been a few weeks and she knows there are thirty women in competition, and she has never committed to wanting to be queen? Imo she is way over the top dramatic and her demands are unrealistic. But that's the story. Now the next book implies she'll move on to the next prince.
Very pg for a 23 year old and a lusty prince. Book one would be a great set up for a reverse harem, but I don't think it is?

Definitely gonna have to read the next book. I really enjoyed reading this one. Jorah is an absolute spitfire and I love her. And I really appreciated that, despite being rivals with some of the other girls for Prince Kieran's hand in marriage, she still became friends with Gwen and Nara. And how she befriended kitchen staff and servants. Was a little annoyed at the ending, but that's cliffhangers for you 🤣 Also, the plot twist where one of her beloved orphans at the orphanage turned out to be the son of Prince Krewan. I kept thinking that she and Krew were a better match and wondering why Krew didn't choose her for his assemblage. Only, now she has to compete with Renna 😭

Wow. Just wow. I picked this up on a whim from KU and man… I was off work for the holiday and I had plans. Plans to clean, put away decorations, etc. but what have I done for the past 36 hours? Tear through these two books like my life depended on it. Worst part? I thought it was a two book series. Rookie mistake 😂 now I’m in a full fledge book hangover and left on a cliffhanger. But it was worth it and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 3! If you liked The Selection, you will LOVE this one. I have to admit I’m a sucker for this plot, so I love when I find one that is so well written!

Raise your hand if you’re a Jorah.

It’s me. I’m raising my hand in the very least as wishful thinking. I see a wonderfully flawed, strong character and I love seeing her growth as the story unfolds. Tricia has delivered yet another book I couldn’t put down. And those crowned princes. Le sigh. You will be all over the place with them! The love/hate feels in this story are strong ones. I can’t wait for the next book already and this one just came out!!

A solid first book.

This was a very enjoyable read - similar in feel to the Selection series but with a fantasy opposed to dystopian world. Heroine Jorah is blunt, unapologetic and uninterested and this works nicely in the messed up
world of the “harems” ( her words ) imposed upon her. The twin princes and side characters were well done too.
This was fairly clean with minimal violence, no sex and several mentions of a rape that didn’t happen - safe for teens and up.

I'm in love...or am I?

This enchanting story has strong characters who have personalities to match. There are many emotions expressed by each character throughout the "competition." As each character's personality is revealed, things happen that will make you laugh or cry or get really mad. The twists and turns keep you wondering how it will turn out. This is an extremely great book to read !

This book scratches the very specific itch of a fantasy book that follows a Bachelor like premise. The beginning reminded me so much of the Selection, but with more love interests and an even more infuriating main character. Jorah constantly flipped from being angry and defiant to being weepy and immature. While it is 100% possible to be emotional and still strong, I did not agree with most of her feelings and felt that she overdramatize most situations.

3.75⭐️ This started out as a solid 3⭐️ read for me. Jorah is annoying, and the nonstop descriptions of her "fiesty" nature had me rolling my eyes. But I found that I really enjoyed the plot setup, so the story deserved a slightly higher rating. It's a spin on the Selection--and I like the twists with the two princes and the extra element of magic. I enjoyed it enough that I'll continue the series and hope that Jorah gets more tolerable.

No language that I can remember and no explicit spice.

Amazing!!

I have not read a book so enthralling in way too long! I was so disappointed to see that I have to wait a week to read the second. The storyline of this book is exactly what I have been looking for and it did not disappoint. Needless to say I will be anxiously anticipating next week!

I absolutely loved this book and am so glad there is a sequel. I loved the character of Jorah. She's bright, witty, loving, snarky, although a bit immature at times. She is age 23 but does come across as a teenager at times, but you will definitely love her. The secondary characters are pretty text book typed, but I absorbed them as well. This is a great way to end my reading year!

This book was not IT. This is my second dnf of this year. The female character is such a pick me, i seriously got irritated with her. I couldn't connect with her at all. I was hoping there would be some or any kind of punch that would've kept me reading the book. But I was not able to read it any further at all.
