This was a good way to get hyped for the movie. However the story just ends right when it seems like things are getting interesting. It's like it's meant to be a companion/prelude of the full story - not done well either considering there is no extras stuff just word for word of the actual film. I enjoyed myself reading it just wish it at least finished the story up.

Sidenote: as I read I imagined Michelle Rodriguez' acting and boy was that like an image in your mind that completely comes true. (after watching the movie) She was, of course, great.

Happy reading!

My fam and I went on a mini roadtrip to find some snow this weekend and listened to this for part of the drive. We loved it! We’re obsessed with the movie and this was essentially the movie word for word, so it was perfect for us and our six year old. We were laughing out loud at our favorite lines. The only bummer is that it’s not the entire movie. It ends about 2/3 way through and makes it seem like that is the real end of the story. Otherwise it was great!

If you liked the movie, this is fairly close to word-for-word exactly what happened in the first half of the movie. And only half. It stops after retrieving an item and there is no resolution to the plot. And as far as I can tell, it doesn't even look like they're going to make another book with the other half of the movie.

All in all, skip the book, and watch the movie.

This junior novelization of the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie is just that - a young readers version of the movie.

While this novel does follow the movie plot almost to a "T", the overall pace of the story feels as though a lot of details have been cut out; which makes the action seem a little too quick and a little too confusing for readers who haven't seen the movie.

Word for word, exactly what happens in the first half of the film. I bought it for children in my D&D club, but they found it disappointing that the book ends halfway through the film and lacks a satisfying conclusion.

Decent book, but only the first half of the movie with nothing indicating it is a part one or that it isn't a complete story.

The book is faithful to the film... Except that it stops halfway.

I don't have children but I think it's a good bedtime story!

what happened?

This particular story didn’t have a very good conclusion. What happened? Did they pull off the job? Lots of unanswered questions. In this book.

I don't know that I've ever had a more perplexing literary experience. This is a scene-for-scene recreation of the movie (including dialogue and even stage direction) that ends literally, abruptly, and unsatisfactorily, halfway through the film.

There's zero attempt to wrap up the story, it's 140 pages setting up a premise that simply never occurs, ending instead in what would comfortably be described as "late Act Two."

The only rationalization is that it's sole purpose is to serve as a teaser for the film, released two months later, and didn't want to give away the ending.

Matched the movie a lot better than expected, 7/10 for any d&d fan that wants a good fantasy, would recommend.
Edit: although, I am kinda disappointed that it stops halfway through. When the movie gets interesting. 7/10. Not as bad as maniac Magee, but not that good. I’ll keep this spoiler free so you can see for your self.
