Najkrócej można powiedzieć tak – dobra to książka była. Ja lubię książki popularnonaukowe, które napisane są lekkim językiem, przystępnym dla każdego. Tematyka w szczególności bliska memu sercu, bo z zawodu jestem pedagogiem i terapeutą. I jako terapeuta i pedagog powiem, że jest to dobry kawałek literatury edukacyjnej i uświadamiającej w zakresie funkcjonowania osób ze spektrum autyzmu.
Książka prawi o relacjach osób z autyzmem na przestrzeni całego ich życia. Od relacji z rodzicami, z rodzeństwem, o budowaniu relacji z rówieśnikami, przyjaźni i o miłości. Pierwsze związki, rozstania, a w końcu i o starości. Nie obyło się bez trudnych tematów, i jakie to było ważne, że one się pojawiły. O dobrych aspektach relacji, ale i o toksycznych. O problemach, o trudnościach, niezrozumieniu, ale nie tylko. O dużym wsparciu, akceptacji. I o tym jak mocno jest ta akceptacja potrzebna i ile potrafi dać każdemu, a w szczególności osobom ze autyzmem.
Bardzo podobało mi się to, że to była książka o osobach z ASD, ale nie byli oni w niej traktowani przedmiotowo. Ich historie, ich słowa i emocje przebijały się przez książkę, dało się je wyczuć, wyraźnie i głośno. Podobało mi się też to, że autorki szukały informacji również wśród osób starszych. Ich głos, moim zdaniem, był tutaj niezwykle ważny.
Duża dawka teorii, ale jednocześnie mocno osadzona w praktyce.
Polecam tę książkę każdemu. Laikom, by inaczej spojrzeli na świat osób ze spektrum, nauczycielom, pedagogom, terapeutom – bo są tu i dla nich postulaty, bo może dzięki tej książce zmienią coś w życiu swojego ucznia z ASD. I na koniec rodzicom – bo to od nich zaczyna się budowanie relacji w życiu każdego dziecka.

Takie lody waniliowe pośród książek o autyźmie - dobre, ale żadnych odkrywczych nut smakowych tam nie znajdziesz. Niemniej może to być przystępna pozycja dla osób które z wiedzą o ASD nie miały doczynienia. W takim wypadku bym polecała.
