Lie With Me

Rate this book
In this small format erotic Orlando, an unnamed woman narrates her life of lust while unnamed men describe their erotic encounters with her from their perspectives. Like Teiresias, the blind seer who has been both man and woman, we experience both sides of this dizzying story - a rhapsodic examination of love, degradation, hatred and desire, as well as a parody of the pornographic imagination that informs it.

This was hot and depressing at the same time. Love the writing style. But I got bored at Man No.4.
Hot or not I still want some plot.

This is a captivating and intense story that pulls you in from the very first page. It delves into powerful themes of degradation, emotional breakdown, forgiveness, and redemption, all wrapped in a gripping and very graphic narrative. At its core, it’s the story of a woman whose life spirals into depravity and turmoil; viewed through a symbolic lens, it becomes an extraordinary masterpiece.

Narrated in the first person by the woman and her lovers, she directly engages the reader, sharing her raw, unfiltered story. She pleads for your attention, your understanding, and your empathy.

The novel is packed with vivid symbolism: her apartment mirrors her life, her bedroom reflects her psyche, and her wild escapades symbolize her mental struggles. A deep understanding of BDSM dynamics - dominance, submission, bondage - is essential to fully grasp the layered meanings behind her actions and the characters’ behaviors, especially as the story reaches its climax.

Her transformation - from a submissive woman to the trusted partner she loved, then to a commanding dominatrix - powerfully symbolizes her inner pain, betrayal, and resentment. What unfolds at the end is breathtaking.

Adding shifting perspectives during her storytelling offers profound depth and insight.

The conclusion is nothing short of extraordinary, ranking among the most unforgettable endings I’ve ever experienced. Watch the symbolic scenes unfold in the kitchen and the bedroom, and during the bondage scene, and listen to her voice - each detail heightening the story’s emotional impact.

The finale feels almost spiritual - like an awakening or enlightenment - a release after the storm, angels singing, trumpets blaring, or St. Peter welcoming you at the Pearly Gates with open arms.
It’s a truly beautiful and awe-inspiring ending that stays with you long after the last page.

I highly recommend you set aside your sensitivity and read this book. It is remarkable.
