As the title suggests, this collection is absolutely disgusting—and I loved every second of it. With three short stories, each more revolting than the last, I couldn’t stop reading. It was gross, unhinged, and so much fun.
Story Ratings:
Ghost Poop (4/5) – Look, we’re adults here. Everyone poops. And if you’ve ever had a near-death experience in the bathroom, you can relate to this one.
Slop Tart (4/5) – Let’s just say I’m really glad sororities aren’t a thing where I live, and I will never look at Pop-Tarts the same way again. Thanks for that.
Raw Dog (5/5) – A genuinely heartwarming (and not at all horrifying) tale of a boy reaching manhood… and the family ritual that comes with it.

You know what you're gonna get with Benetti, and from the first sentence this is confirmed!! 😂 Benettis use of adjectives in his stories are always hilarious, his wicked sense of humour shining through 😉 His descriptions are also very vivid, which isn't always a good thing!! 🤢
This book of 3 short stories was indeed Gross, absolutely doing what it says on the tin!! If you've read RJs stuff before you know what you're getting yourself into, if you havent, good luck and enjoy the ride!!

Congrats R.J. for kicking down the door into this crazy world of Extreme/Splatterpunk Horror!! You busted in with Hamsters Ball and you have been killing it with everything you have put out. And this one is no exception!! All three stories in this book are bangers and gross!! Ghost Poop was my favorite!! I mean who hasn't sat on the toilet and struggled to push out a log of a turd. Had me laughing out loud! Keep giving us the good stuff R.J.

RJ Benetti put out a new small collection this week. Gross out horror can be very hit or miss, but RJ knows how to mix just the right amount of comedy in his work to make it a blast to read. You should definitely check him out if you haven't already

Didn’t really care for the first story but Slop Tart and Raw Dog?!? 🤢 Seriously disgusting!! Lol I couldn’t look away (obviously had to continue reading) but I didn’t need to picture all that at all lol.

Oliver is really struggling in the bathroom. Pouring sweat and straining. It’s like the guy is about to give birth. Finally, he gets some relief until he walks into this living room.

The pledges are ready to show their dedication to Sigma Alpha Epsilon. All eight of them are ready to dig into some Pop Tarts. Easy right? Just wait until they find out what’s in them.
Raw Dog
Travers is about to learn the hard way about becoming a man. It’s definitely a smelly, slimy and sweaty affair.
So, this book of shorts definitely gets grosser as you go. All of these were great, but Raw Dog was the star for me. Benetti will have you seeing and smelling things you wish you hadn’t. There is totally vile stuff going on inside these pages and I’m here for it. If you enjoy gross out horror, add this one to your list.

Starting right off with the first story, It Gets Grosser as You Go delivers on the ick factor. With story titles like Ghost Poop, Slop Tart and Raw Dog, I feel like you should have a pretty good idea of what horrors await you in this collection.
"But the proof, as they say, was in the lack of butt pudding."
I wouldn't recommend this to everyone. That doesn't mean that I didn't love it, but just because I'm a sicko doesn't mean anyone else is.
Having said that, if you like bowel movements told in glorious detail, bodily fluids being ingested in the form of antiquated hazing rituals, gratuitous sex scenes with (you guessed it) more bodily fluids, a hint of gore and strange family reunions then this one's for you.

Slop Tart: Toxic Masculinity, curious fillings, fraternity rituals. Vomit inducing. I will likely never consume another pop tart.
Raw Dog: What the actual fuck 🤮 worse than anything I could’ve even imagined. Just… mentally prepare yourself to read this one. Maybe set up a therapy session in advance.
Favourite line from the collection:

It Gets Grosser as You go is three stories that are a highly detailed, (and very well written details at that), bile inducing blend of bodily fluid soaked and hilarious scenarios.
Prepare to be grossed out in increasingly higher increments, the title of this anthology does not lie. I laughed while simultaneously trying not to gag, especially with the last one.
Challenge your mind and your intestinal fortitude while enjoying a generous serving of what Benetti has to offer.

4 stars based on the last one. The first one was just a what did I read. The second one was grisly but I kinda enjoyed it and the third was just holy shit the plot twist has changed my life forever kinda thing. Would recommend this one just so you can read the last one as I definitely traumatised myself reading it and then finishing it
