Rory has accepted love. So what if his lover is blue, horned, and very protective? Actually, a bagu mate suits Rory just fine, especially since Inkiri loves doting on Rory. But after the attack on Esaka, Rory once more finds himself frustrated with the magic he has access to, and he’d prefer to get rid of it. If that’s not an option, he’d prefer never to be in a situation where he has to use it.

Inkiri, ever the supportive mate, does his best to encourage Rory to learn about his magic, and new friends are more than happy to help Rory with that. Actually, Rory discovers that learning about magic isn’t all that bad, especially if no one wants to murder you or your friends. However, Rory’s power attracts those who would use him to their own ends, and escaping those forces forever is not possible. Which leaves Rory with a choice: hide and run, or fight.

Warning: Blood & Fate (Monster Apocalypse 3) ends on a cliffhanger which will be resolved in Monster Apocalypse 4. (As of this writing, the characters are still arguing with the author over the title… And Because I said so is a perfectly valid response).

Blood and Fate
Alexa Piper

Inkiri and his mate are at it again and trying to keep everyone safe.
I Iove the part with Sadir and Vergis on the roof with the "Flower candy".
I always enjoy reading about their journey and the different characters that come into their lives.

The story keeps you learning more about who to and not to trust.
I love reading all of these books with Inkiri and his friends and being a part of their family there's humorous parts in this book and more Barb talk to enjoy.
I highly recommend this book.

Blood & Fate is third book in the Monster Apocalypse series. I freakin love Rory and Inkiri!! Rory gets the help he needs with his magic! Questions are finally answered. The banter is so freakin funny. Love all the secondary characters. Love the world building and character development. There is a cliffhanger. Overall, a fantastic addition to the series. Well written with great pacing! Kept me flipping the pages.

In this third book, the story starts to speed up a bit, and it's not just sightseeing and being cute anymore. Well, there is that too, but there is also a lot of magic practice, hanging around the house and oh, dealing with the Koa Esher and a bit more darker themes.
The whole gang is there and there are wonderful new characters like Donna and Vergis' fathers.
As usual, it's cute and sweet, and if you've read the previous books (which you should because this is book 3 and not a stand-alone) you know what to expect.
I really liked the developing of the story, the details and the humor. I hope book 4 will finally solve the problem, have a bit more action, and be the last one in this series.

My only complaint is that I found the romance lacking. Compared to the previous 2 books, Inkiri is almost absent in this one, and seems more 2-dimensional than Vergis and even Vergis' father Kinnick. Additionally, there is so much focus on Vergis and his interactions with Rory, that my lizard brain thought that Vergis and Rory were courting... (Which they aren't.)
Moreover, despite all Rory's talks with the magic, I missed the information of why Inkiri was important for the magic and why he was 'chosen'.
(I've been ensured that these complaints will be solved in book 4. I still write them here because it's what I thought/felt during and after reading.)

Bound in Blood and Breath

Vergis eyed the coffee maker longingly. “As I said, a twink trouble magnet.”

Blood & Fate is a series that I can absolutely commit to, as Alexa Piper continues to thrill us with Rory’s magical journey. What makes this third book, in the Monster Apocalypse series, exciting is Rory’s steamy romance with Inkiri blossoming and the terror of the deadly happenings being provoked by the cola a-holes and humans.

The hysterical banter between Vergis’ father, Kinnick, and Rory is like sweet little treats sprinkled through traumatic and frightening action.

Red headed Loathly Lady, magical candy bar, Magic Dispenser, Rory is hearing the presence’s voice more and more, and the Sentenmen, or family group, is depending on Rory's strengthened magic.

Love, love, love this series!!!

This series continues to be a delight (gentle note to readers here that if you haven’t already started with the first two books, it’s a very good idea to begin at the beginning). I love the harmony the author manages to compose from interesting world building, a plot that blends adventure, romance, relationship development, and exploration, and beautifully drawn characters: Rory and Inkiri are each, in their own ways, and even more so together, awesome, but I have to admit that with each installment of this series I get more and more attached to the supporting cast. As a final note, there’s clearly more to come in terms of the larger plot arc, so prepare to be left waiting eagerly for book 4.

This has been a wonderful series and I can't wait to see how everything gets resolved in book four. Meanwhile, in this book we have a nice mix of things going on. Rory and Inkiri continue to develop their relationship and Rory finds support both from his mate and from friends and allies as he is still conflicted about developing and using his magic. There are some peaceful times in this one where our characters can breathe a bit. However, that doesn't last, as Rory faces the fact that neutrality isn't an option for him. To save those he loves and the world he wants, he's going to have to engage and join the fray.

This is the 3rd book in the Monster Apocalypse series. I would recommend reading the first 2 books before this one for the story to make sense. In this book all our favorite characters are back and we meet some new ones. This book is about Rory learning about what he is and learning how to use his magic. We get a lot of information on what is going on in both worlds. I loved this book and all the ways the characters interact with each other. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book.

Why Alexa? Why? There's a cliffhanger ending but I don't expect to be waiting too long for book 4.
Blood & Fate answers a lot of questions and Rory finally gets the magical education that he needs, and a lesson in the Bagua language too.
Less time with Inkiri on page but their relationship is deep, well established and Rory is settling into his new role.
I love this series and how devoted Rory and Ink are to each other

Thankfully this series is getting better with each new book. We get more magical training and less whining from Rory (although it doesn't fully disappear) so the book was more fun to read. Looking forward to the next one.

Ok, this was more a 3.5. Our valiant aliens and human are still trying to figure out the the problems with the bad guys (humans and aliens). Rory is still learning his magic (wish we saw more of that process). He really needs to learn his husband's language (the maiming of it is no longer cute). Really loved the roof top scene with Vergis and Rory. In fact I would love a book about Vergis! I really wish we had seen more of Rory and Ink! Will still read book 4!

Book three is an excellent continuation of the Monster Apocalypse series! Rory is adorable and I can't help feeling a kinship with him. He doesn't want to battle, run for his life, or wield incredible magic that makes him a target for suck-ups and manipulation as well as kidnapping attempts by vile people. He wants to be a trophy husband to Inkiri, who deserves all the doting and adoration he can get!

The pacing of this book mirrors the previous one, where Rory and his guys get some much needed time to rest and explore, before they're again confronted by the worst types of people that Earth and Aër have to offer. I love the world that the author brings to life through the quiet times in these books, with beautiful details about the clothes, food, and buildings.

There is more Vergis in this book and I am here for it. That cranky magic user tries his best to remain aloof but just can't hide how deeply he cares for his companions. In spite of his best efforts, his times with Rory are becoming as warm as they are filled with verbal sparring.

I'm so pleased with how this story is shaping up and can't wait for book 4!
