I loved the story of Spider-Man fighting all the familiar villains, with the help of some more well-known heroes. This was overall a great place to start reading the comics!
As someone who hasn't read more than a few issues of Spider-Man's early years, this is a fantastic book. It reads like a cartoon, and that works beautifully with the more kid-friendly, quippy, awkward, nerd-type of Spider-Man.
It has a lot of humor and some moments that are genuinely sweet, and the team-ups are pretty cool. I definitely want to see more from this universe.
A really amazing introduction to Spider-Man. If anyone were to ask where to start this is where. The quips are all on point, his life is how Spider-Man’s life should be, his villains are amazing. This story gets it right. I even really enjoy the artwork as it reminds me of Steve Ditkos artwork. Like somebody just brought it to the modern day. Definitely a great Spider-Man comic maybe one of the best.
It's fine - definitely jarring to see high school Spider-Man with modern trappings like cell phones in a comic book, but every time they do one of these nostalgia update series about his high school time, they always dance in between the continuity of the originals and it feels a little bit empty. Nothing revelatory, but some decent comics.
A fantastic read through and through! I didn’t click with the first artist due to their interpretation of Spidey’s mask but still thought the writing was great. I will admit, there are times where Spidey’s dialogue was a little too childish for my liking, though it seems to rein it in as the book moves on. A great intro for Spider-Man and a really good intro for Marvel as a whole! Check it out!
This was a fun quick read. Probably meant for younger readers, complete with a pithy message in each issue. The art is better in the beginning. Definitely some funny lines here and there.
