Kat #1

The Kat Trap

Rate this book

A sexy, raw debut novel about the life of a young murderess who lures her victims to their own deaths by seducing them.

Ghetto-born and street-raised, Katrina -- or Kat for short, is a self-proclaimed hood goddess. With her in-your-face razor-sharp attitude, alluring charm, and exotic beauty, Katrina is vivacious, vicious, and unsuspectingly dangerous. Detached from her emotions, she has no time for regrets. The product of a neglectful mother and an incarcerated father, Katrina is willing to do whatever it takes to climb -- or kill -- her way out of the hood.

Calculated and cunning, Katrina already has two bodies on her hands by the ripe age of twenty. When a mysterious man invites her to join his multi-million dollar "work-for-hire" network of professional assassins, it becomes the opportunity of a lifetime. The first female killer on his team, she travels all over the United States and fulfills the bloody requests of her every client. With each murder, Katrina feels more and more powerful -- killing turns out to be an addictive aphrodisiac for her and the rush of violence is the only thing that satisfies her insatiable libido. Before killing each victim, Katrina tempts them with her irresistible, delectable charms -- and not one of them can resist.

Disturbingly witty and devilishly enticing, The Kat Trap is an edgy, fast-paced urban drama with fascinating psychological elements that demonstrate how anger and bitterness can perpetuate self-destructive behaviors. Readers will be enthralled by Kat's deliciously criminal world of money and glamour, shocked by her cutthroat ambition and ruthlessness, and accosted by her physical and sexual prowess.

Peace of Mind

Refusing to live in the projects, like her entire family, Kat has acquired a real hustle that guarantees that she'll be paid, jet-setting and plenty satisfied. With everyone in the closet about how Kat gets hers, there's never any concern that her promiscuous ways will see the light of day. Besides, Kat enjoys what she does and can't imagine not having work to keep her content.

Kat gave up on happily ever after some time ago, but Grant steps in the picture and it seems that they could possibly have a future. Is THE KAT TRAP a dream killer?

Razor-sharp and witty, THE KAT TRAP was a good read all in all. Have to agree with the other reviewers, I didn't like the end; it was predictable, and while I get that she was being true to self, the story seemed to lose some of its bite. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

'Cause I'm THAT B*tch!

Katrina aka Kat took her first life as a teen. From that moment, her thoughts, actions and feelings would push her towards death. And now death is her life, her business, her profession...her pleasure. Kat is a paid killer. She lures men to THE KAT TRAP and then it's a wrap. She lays them and slays them.

The ruthless, insatiable assassin needs love too. When she meets a fine, sexy brother, is he enough to make her want to change her ways?

THE KAT TRAP was entertaining, raunchy and laugh-out-loud funny. Main character Kat practically leaped from the pages with personality plus. But that was two-fold. At times she was too over the top. A b*tch got tired of reading about what another b*tch was doing or wearing.

The ending was predictable. I had truly hoped that the author would surprise readers and take the ending in another direction other than what was obvious and expected. Unfortunately, he did not. That was rather disappointing and spoiled my overall feel for the book.

Laced with sex, murder and humor, THE KAT TRAP certainly gives you something to talk about. But I'ma keep it cute and end here 'cause a b*tch gotta read!

Wow, this book was packed with action. Kat is the main character and she is an assassin for hire. This girl is straight up crazy! She will kill on command and has no problems with it. She grew up in the projects with a messed up mama who always chose men over her and hates her mama for that very reason. She has no issue telling anyone and everyone off that she doesn't agree with and does so with a vengeance.

This book basically about killing and sex, with a few other things thrown in. It is drama filled and keeps you very interested throughout. It is better than alot of street lit I've read lately and will be reading the sequel as well as some of the author's other books. If you like erotic street lit, than this is the book for you!

Eh

A lot of potential that wasn’t met. Maybe it’s in part 2. Could have been an erotic thriller, but it disappointed. Could tell it is a male author trying to write from a woman’s perspective. The phrase, “I’m not beat to…” and different variations were overused. Her friends were just irrelevant to the story, like they were just thrown in for extra storylines. And it didn’t make sense how she killed these men in their lavish hotel rooms, walked back to her room, and she never got caught. The cameras had to work in at least one hotel. The author never made mention to cameras or the lack thereof. That needs to be explained.

Mixed feelings

The killing aspect of the organization was the best part of the story to me, but it didn't go anywhere, in my opinion. I felt the author could have done more with that than the side stories that really didn't go anywhere or get resolved. The main character didn't learn or grow from none of her failed relationships. I did enjoy the sex scenes and the small banter. I just wanted a lil more about the organization, which can be a story within itself.

Kat is a strong and confident woman. She doesn't take shit from no one, not even her mama. I love the way that she is so straightforward and real with everyone, especially with her friends. She officially my favorite novel character. This book is worth the read.

This is my first book by Cairo , but it won’t be my last. Written with the gritty realism of street life, THE KAT TRAP is a page-turner. Kat’s character is strong-willed and focused which is good for her chosen profession. Yet, she is soft enough to still unwind with friends and desire the love she seeks from her mother. The only thing I felt the plot lacked is more interaction between her and a budding love interest. There was also quite a bit of gratuitous sex, which pushed the novel towards the erotica genre. Lovers of urban literature will be captivated by this one.

Kat is cold as hell, but I love her ! She don't take s**t from nobody and is a true boss! This book had me in from start to finish. Kat is independent, sexy, and a true killer! & her sex game on point!!! She didn't have to kill her boo at the end though... :/

The Kat Trap and Kitty Kitty Bang Bang should be read one after the other, with The Kat Trap first. I love Cairos strong female characters and his unexpected plot twists. Read any and everything by the artist Cairo. He will not disappoint and you will sweat!

Definitely not my usual genre of reading, but had to see what Urban Fiction was all about. Filled with sex, drugs, and violence and more sex, whew, and more sex.
Hard for me to rate it. But the story line didn't drag and I could see where this author could, and maybe does, develope a fan base.

Exciting but very raw. I didn't know what to expect but as I read about Kat little did I know was as ruthless as she was. After getting through the street talk it was a decent read.
