A Tarot conference at a holistic resort seems the perfect place for Tea and Tarot partners Hyperion and Abigail to promote their business and enjoy some beachside luxury. But murder cuts their R&R short. And when the evidence points to Abigail’s devilishly appealing neighbor, Brik, and an unsolved murder connected to his past, these amateur detectives are on the case.
Years ago, Brik’s girlfriend died at the hands of an unknown stalker. He lost everything: his love, his job, his home. Now, he’s convinced history is repeating itself. He’s tried to keep Abigail in the friend-zone, but he fears another woman he cares about just may be the next victim.
As the investigation heats up, Brik and Abigail are determined to keep each other at arm’s length. But as they cross swords with the killer, their feelings become harder to resist. If these two don’t learn to trust each other, their chance at love might be cut short. Permanently.

I enjoyed this book. This is the sixth book in the series and finally we find out who is responsible for the murder which has been effecting one of the key characters throughout the series. Don't worry if you haven't read the other books because it does work as a standalone and the circumstances of the first murder does get explained but for fans like me it nice to get some closer. Once again the author has created an entertaining little mystery, with all the usual quirky characters to help or hinder along the way. I liked the fact that it all took place in one location with all the suspects on hand to muddy the waters, I never did guess the killer. This is a fun cozy mystery so don't let the idea of tarot or tea leaf reading put you off picking up this book, if that is not your thing because it is just a reason for everybody to be cooped up in the one place and in fact leads to some humours situations at the conference. A fun read and I look forward to seeing where the author that's it next. Hyperion and Abigail are guest speakers at A holistic resort to promote there tea shop and Hyperion's new book on Tarot reading. Instead they find themselves investigating a murder when the murder weapon used came from there elaborate Tarot card maze, a maze that there friend Brik helped build. The death is very similar to the death of Brik's girlfriend, the one that he was accused of and has haunted him even since. Abigail afraid that once again the police are going to take the easy option and accuse her friend decides to use her time at the hotel to find the real killer. Especially as Brik is determined to find the killer himself. Can the pair work together to find the killer before anybody gets hurt or will there attraction get in the way? The Sword in the Scone is the sixth book in the Hilarious Tearoom Cozy Mystery series. Hyperion and Abigail who are business partners and we’re invited guest speakers at A holistic resort to promote there tea shop and Hyperion's new written book. Instead right from the start they find themselves investigating a murder when the murder weapon used came from Hyperion's Tarot card maze, a maze that their contractor friend Brik helped build. The death is very similar to the death of Brik's girlfriend, the one that he was accused of and has haunted him even since. Abigail was afraid that once again the police are going to take the easy option and accuse her friend so she decides to use her time at the hotel to find the real killer. Especially as Brik is determined to find the killer himself. Without giving away the story there are twists and turns that keep you guessing till the end.
I’ve only read a few books in the series so far, so don’t worry if you haven’t read all the books in the series in order, they can easily stand-alone. A fun read and I look forward to seeing where the author that's it next. The author has become one of my favorites. I’m very much looking forward to more in the series, especially more Hyperion (he is hysterical).

The Sword in the Scone is part of the Tea and Tarot cozy mystery series. In this book, the Tea & Tarot shop owners (Abigail and Hyperion) spend a week at a local Zen resort spa. They are presenting at the Tarot conference. They get involved in solving a murder that has occurred at the conference. There is a little less than the usual amount of interaction between Abigail and Hyperion in this book, which I missed since it is my favorite part of the series. However, the reader gets to know two of the regular characters a bit more, Brik and Razzzor, so that made up for it.
I’ve only read a few books in the series so far, so don’t worry if you haven’t read all the books in the series in order, they can easily stand-alone. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun cozy mystery with interesting characters. The author does an excellent job bringing us into the mind of Abigail, which makes the character seem very real as she deals with her thoughts and emotions. The author is also extremely good at describing things as they are happening, even very simple things (for example, gravel crunching under feet), which makes it feel so very real. The book is well written and moves at a good pace. The author has become one of my favorites. I’m very much looking forward to more in the series, especially more Hyperion (he is perfectly hysterical).

The 6th book in a laugh out loud cozy murder mystery series that ties some lose ends together. The owners of Tea and Taro, Abigail and Hyperion are at a Zen spa giving talks about their specialties, Tea and Taro. Hyperion is hilarious, so full of himself but still a good friend and partner to Abigail. Abigail's neighbor, and silent heartthrob Brik is there to help Hyperion and Abigail with their set-up for their tea and tarot advertising for their speeches at Zen. When one of Zen's managers, Lacy is murdered, things start to go crazy. We have a connection to Brik who becomes a suspect since his girlfriend at another spa was stalked and murdered in the parking lot and he was a suspect then and this time with the murder of Lacy, it seems so similar. What is going on? Abigail and Hyperion with their very wealthy tech friend, Razzzor decide it is up to them to figure it all out, especially since Brik is a suspect. With so many laughs, twists, turns, crazy characters and a fun ending, you will love this addition to the series! I received and ARC of the book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
The sixth outing for Abigail and Hyperion, set at a zen retreat center for a Tarot conference. Answers to the tragic death of Brik’s former girlfriend and a chance for Abi and Brik to have a real relationship. Plenty of suspects to go around and appearances by most of our favorite members of Beanblossom’s Tea & Tarot Family.
Kirsten Weiss has written another charming cozy filled with humor and tension. The plot is tight and narrative flows smoothly. The story stands alone so you can jump into the series at any point. However, if like me, you prefer reading series in order, you’ll enjoy the development of the characters throughout. Hyperion & Abigail are great partners and have developed a supportive friendship. Abi’s former boss, tech genius Razzzer is a great addition to the sleuthing team. And this reader was jumping up and down with delight at Brik & Abi’s declaration at the end. Ms. Weiss has become one of my must read authors.

Tea and Tarot shop owners, Abigail and Hyperion, are spending the week at a local Zen resort and will be presenters at the Tarot conference. But when a woman who had worked for Brik, Lace Leahy, is killed with Hyperion’s missing Ace of Swords, their attention turns to finding the killer. The victim knew Brik and there was an unsolved murder in his past where his girlfriend had been killed, so Detective Baranko was focusing on Brik. All of them, including Brik, had handled the sword earlier, however, so fingerprints would not clear them. Will they be able to find the real killer and take the pressure off of Brik? Or will they put themselves into danger that they may not find a way out of?
The story has suspense and danger enough to keep any cozy mystery fan on the edge of their seat! Grab your copy and see how the investigation resolves. Will working together on this bring Brik and Abigail together? Or won’t they get the chance to find out?
This was a well written story and had several really good plot twists. Recommend.
Hyperion and Abigail are attending a tarot conference at a holistic retreat spa. Brik is there helping them build a tarot card maze. Brik and Abigail discover the body of Lace, one of the managers of the spa, unalived in the employee parking lot impaled by Hyperion's prop sword. The murder is eerily similar to Brik's girlfriend Lyssa's murder from a few years ago at a spa in Eureka. Brik is determined to investigate the murder and protect Abigail. He gets hired by Fraser, the owner of the spa, to renovate a guest house and do some general repairs so he can investigate. Abigail, Hyperion and Razzzor all join the investigation. Before they can solve that murder, another employee, Daiyu, is found by Razzzor and Abigail behind the spa. They eventually find out who unalived all three women and go back to their normal routines at the tea room.

This is the 6th in series, but all the books work well as standalone books. The Tea and Tarot books follows Abigail and Hyperion as they get tangled up in murders and start investigating. This book solves the murders at Zen holistic spa, where Abigail and Hyperion are presenting on the topics of tarot and tea, of course. Abigail looks for a murderer at Zen, with the help of hilarious Hyperion, old friend Razzzor, and love interest, Brik. As they investigate, they discover the murders might have had something to do with the death of Brik's girlfriend in the past. I was glad this particular storyline finally had closure. This was an enjoyable read, with all the things that make a great cozy: a fun setting, quirky characters (Verbena was infuriating but funny), confusion, misdirection, and twists. There are recipes in the back, including a yummy sounding pistachio rose scone!.

Kirsten Weiss is one of my favorite authors whose books I immediately add to my Kindle or Nook when I see they are coming out. Then I hold onto them for a while so I can save them for just the right mood. I was in that mood to read this one this week and enjoyed my time immensely. I love the characters and the premise ever since the first books. The tea shop with the tarot reading attached, the two owners are friends now and get closer each book as much as they drive each other nuts, sort of like brother and sister. There's a lot of nice resolution through the book with characters I like. The action happens at a spa retreat where Abigail and Hyperion are working a tea and tarot aspect of the retreat. Then murder happens and they jump into the investigation since it affects their mutual friend Brik. Plenty of red herrings and suspects to keep the story moving along and definitely plenty of laughs. I love this series and author and can definitely recommend the book too.
First off…I love a good Arthurian reference, “Sword In The Scone!” If you are into a delightful read and a good mystery you will want to dive into Kirsten’s latest cozy. The idea of tea and tarot has been around for a while and Kirsten takes it to new heights with a good twist.
Abigail and Hyperion, business partners in the tea and tarot shop find themselves in the middle of the Holistic Tarot Workshop when a sword to be used in a display goes missing only to be found a few pages later sticking out of someone! Let the mystery detection begin.
Kirsten Weiss mixes old-fashioned cozy mysteries with a little bit of romance and a whole lot of fun to keep you guessing right up until the very end!.

Happy Valentine's Day to me! What a great day to get this book and this series is my favorite of Weiss'.
Abigail and Hyperion are at a tarot conference at a luxury day spa where Hyperion has scored them the best room for free! Brik has tagged along to help set up the display, after all he and Abigail are friends, or is it something more, who knows! But before anything gets started there's a murder, (surprise, surprise) and Brik's past seems to have come back to haunt him. While Abigail and Hyperion take on the case, Brik decides he can be his own detective. And he's not the only one who tries to investigate.
Lots of interesting characters. Lots of fun situations, they don't do well on a vegan menu. As usual, Abigail gets herself into trouble. Recipes in the back look great and I *really* want to go to Tea and Tarot to try them out.
Another vacation cut short by a murder, but this one is hitting really close to home. Like too close. Like time to go home and lock the doors close. Or just get out there and find the bad guy.
This is book six of the series, but it is written as a standalone. Jump in at any time.
This is a cozy mystery with a cozy setting. Nothing wrong with that! The story is well written, easy to read and just plain fun. It features a well developed setting and wonderful characters that bring the story to life. I really liked our two leads who are smart and resourceful, if perhaps a bit overwhelmed. The mystery is a good one and features plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Overall, it was a wonderful story and I hope to see more in the series.
Highly recommended.

This book had everything a cozy is known for from the small location, a body, a few quirky characters, and a sleuth who isn't a professional. Well she is a pro when it comes to baking and mixing teas (btw there were no recipes in the ARC for those amazing sounding scones). The story never stumbled, even if did Abigail did, she was walking in a forest after all, there are limbs and rocks and beads and Birk. Caught between her heart and a hard rocky place, Abigail looks for a murderer in the present who might have had something to do with the past. Oh and Hyperion is the BEST sidekick ever. More than one mystery happening and yet both were intertwined much like those Tarot cards during a reading.
I won this book on a goodreads giveaway on Valentine’s Day and thought it looked like a good read for the holiday. I couldn’t put it down! I will definitely be putting the other books in the series on my tbr list. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a good mystery, it used to be a favorite genre of mine to read. Looking forward to new reads by Kirsten Weiss! I am writing this review from my Kindle and I don’t see a way to indicate spoilers from here so I am not going to put details about the story here, but you won’t be disappointed if you decide to pick up this book…and there are recipes for the pastries mentioned in the story at the end…I can’t wait to try them out!

I have to own up to the fact that this is the first book in the series that I’ve read. In fact, it’s the first book by this author I’ve read. That being said, I loved her quirky characters and the fun plot of ‘The Sword in the Scone’. [I also liked the recipes that were included at the end of the book.]
Teas [or tisanes], tarot, and thrills. This book has it all. It was entertaining and a laugh a minute. Even though I started in the middle of an already-established series, I had no problem getting up to speed with the characters and their life. The plot moved along quickly and kept my attention. A perfect afternoon read. Fun, fun fun!!
This story really was fun to read. It's light hearted, funny and clever. It starts out with brick, Hyperion and Abigail working to set up a tarot display using the large tarot cards they made joined together to form walls. It is for a resort/spa. While they are working, someone recognizes brick because of his girlfriends murder. Brik found her body while they were looking for Hyperion's sword for the tarot room. She was impaled with the sword. Abigail is on the case. It's a brilliant story with witty banter and a dynamite plot.

Tea and Tarot at a spa? Interesting idea, giving the main characters a chance to solve murders and mysteries while still near the Tea and Tarot room, yet with a totally different background. Finally we learn about Brik's past in greater detail. Meanwhile the humor continues to add to the story. I loved the flak Abigail had to endure while she presented her first lecture. I personally enjoyed her lecture and explanation about teas. There were twists within the story that caught me by surprise, making it definitely quite different from previous books. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to what happens next in this fun and constantly surprising series!
I really liked this book. Back in the past, Brik had always blamed himself for his girlfriend's death. When Hyperion and Abigail go to Zen, a retreat and spa, they are heading up a Tea and Tarot conference. When one of the employees of the retreat ends up dead, they know they have to investigate. Brik is there too and he's working to help renovate some properties on the Zen land. He helps with the investigation since it strongly resembles his dead g/f's death. Then another employee is murdered and events begin to unfold in a very eerie way. This story had a lot of twists and turns and I didn't guess the killer until they were revealed. Excellent book.
A Sword in the Scone is an unusual, fun, twisted, intriguing mystery! I just flew through this wonderful mystery in a long afternoon. There is so much going on, a lot of players, and almost no one telling the entire truth. Despite the murder there were several laugh out loud moments. I think everyone involved with that spa was more than a little crazy. The little details provided were intriguing without dragging down the story. I love the relationships between the main characters. I cannot wait to read more in this series!
I read this series to fall asleep. This book took the longest to read. I’m not sure if it was the influx of characters or the rapidness of character development. That’s the difficult part of these types of books, it has to continue to evolve and make sense along the way. I’m glad there’s a happy ending. Brik needs therapy. There’s no way around it. Hopefully if there’s another book, Abigail doesn’t end up babysitting or mothering brik’s emotional states. He’s hot and cold and it’s frustrating to watch a character go through that.
Abigail and Hyperion are at it again but this time Brik is included. They are setting up at a Conference in a Spa Retreat when a murder occurs, which just happens to be reminiscent of the murder of Brik's girlfriend years ago. Suspects abound, including Brik, can they solve the mystery before he is arrested? Another great book in the series and I can't wait for the next one.

I adore this series and this book may be my favorite so far. There is much needed resolution to issues from a character’s past, relationship growth and new insight into some of the characters we haven’t spent much time with before. Not to mention the murder, mayhem and snarky humor. I can’t wait to see where the next mystery takes us.

The Sword in the Scone is a delightful cozy mystery that's a part of the Tea and Tarot series. This is so unique and I love it! Tarot is sprinkled throughout and as an (amateur) tarot reader, Abigail and Hyperion are such quirky characters who solve murders and they're just a hoot. I found this quite funny, endearing and a bit somber. I definitely will be reading the rest of the series!.

I loved everything about this story. Abigail and Hyperion are always a pleasure, Razzzor and Brik are a good "distraction", the location is perfect and the mystery is everything I was hoping for, stimulating, deceiving and generally well plotted. Writen with wit and humour and a fast pace, I'm only disappointed that I already finished it. Highly recommended!

From the title of this book to the words on the pages I found this book completely charming. Using tarot cards in a cozy is refreshing because it's certainly not common. I've missed a couple books in this series but that didn't stop my enjoyment in reading it. This was the perfect follow-up to the dark police procedural i read before it.

Every time it amazes me that each new installment is fresh and suspenseful and make me want to read into the eee hours to find out what happens next.
Abigail, Hyperion, Razzzor, and Brik grow better and better with each book. The suspects in this one are all a new age hoot and the quirky side characters are hilarious.
Sword in the Scone is not only a great mystery, it's a darn good romance as well. I'll be reading this one multiple times...
I’ve enjoyed this series from the beginning. It’s great to watch characters grow. This is one series that benefits from starting with book 1 and moving forward. There is a lot of history and dialogue that carries thru the series. The writing is great and the plots are convoluted. I love the characters. This has become one of my favorite Kirsten Weiss series.
Hilarious names (Hyperion, Brik, Razzor), snappy dialogue, and Tarot readings in a fabulous spa where tea specialist Abigail grapples with her partner's display prop being used in a murder. Simultaneously realistic with actual human responses to everything that happens, Sword in the Scone is also charming and cozy because we get to hear what everyone is eating! I randomly bought a copy because of the adorable title!
