I love what the author did here taking the billionaire romance and putting her own spin on it and making them have "normal" jobs. It's refreshing and I loved how even as a billionaire, Maverick has his issues and insecurities. He is human and when he meets Ember, sparks fly. I loved their chemistry and the way they found exactly what they needed in each other. This was sexy, funny, sweet, and gave me all the feels.
Ember comes from a political family and is an only child. She hates her life, family, boyfriend and her cousin who she lives with. Going to a bar with her best friend and cousin she takes flack from her cousin about being a goody two shoes so she gets drunk, takes a dare and decides to get a tattoo. Maverick is a billionaire living in Vegas and is sick of his life and people only seeing him for what he's worth. He and 4 of his billionaire friends decide to make a bet and move to Kansas City and lead a normal life. Maverick gets a job working at a tattoo place where he meets Ember who has come in for a tattoo. Both of them have secrets and some self esteem issues but find a friend in each other and it turns into more than just an attraction. This story is sweet in that Maverick has issues to deal with from a past relationship and is naive about some things. Ember also has issues with her family and being pushed in directions she doesn't want to go. Can they trust each other? Can they get past all the hang ups?
Taming the Beast is boom 1 The new series The Sinfully Ravishing Billionaire series by Alexia Chase.
And it is a great start for the new series. This book is Sexy, funny , sweet and all the feels.
Maverick is a man looking for a new low key life, as a tattoo artist. And Ember is a college stupid. Who is trying to live her own life without her family pushing her to do the things they want her to. When they meet, it is an instant Attraction. They are so good together. The chemistry is fire. Maverick helps Ember see how strong she is. And Ember helps Maverick see that he deserves more. Together they are perfect, they both have big hearts are so sweet. It’s was nice to see them get there HEA.
I also liked the side characters. Both Ember’s friends and Mavericks. They are funny. And it’s nice to see them have people they can count on.
I’m excited to read the next books for this series ❤️
Maverick and his 4 Billionaire friends are fed up as being seen for just their money and decide to up stakes and move to Kansas, where Maverick works as a tattoo artist. Ember is high society and feels cornered by her cousin for being to much of a goody-o=shoes, after getting drunk in a bar Ember accepts a dare to get a tattoo. When Maverick and Ember meet they appeared like worlds apart, if only they knew how similar they really are. Both trying to escape their past lives can they find a solace within one another, even when the outside world tries to tear them apart? this is well written with a good engaging story line and well developed characters.

I loved Ember and Maverick together. These two both had a history that made them question relationship and themselves being in one. Can either one of these two actually open up to the other . I love Maverick is this beast of a man but he is being soft with her. It’s like a play on beauty and the beast but in a simple way. Will ember be able to forgive Maverick after she finds out everything he is hiding. I loved this book. You can’t go wrong with it.
I actually enjoyed this story a lot and thought it was super cute, despite the crazy storyline, unlikely MMC, and some poor editing. Still managed to pull me in and leave me with a smile on my face. Definitely invested in these characters, but will probably wat on the other stories for when I'm in the mood for a silly/cute, yet somehow still angsty, read.
I enjoyed every minute of this book! This is soooooo good! I can’t wait for the rest of the series, I’m a fan! The story between Maverick and Ember is so sweet, I could easily fall for Maverick as well! I love how he is head over heels for her and she adores him for who he is. The first encounter between Maverick and Albert was so heartwarming. The other characters are so loveable and great, it really tastes like more! I cannot say it enough: this book was FANTASTIC, GREAT, AMAZING ... Thank you Alexia!

This book is so hot and sweet! Ember and Maverick have chemistry to spare. They compliment each other and help to bring the others strengths to the surface. When Maverick and his friends decide to go to a meeting town in order to get away from everyone knowing who they are he never thought he would meet a woman. Although he looks like a rough guy he really has a sweet side that Ember saw right away when she stepped in to the Tattoo shop he was working at. Their story has just enough drama to keep it interesting. You will not want to put this one down!
Absolutely the best book I have read this year, a beauty and the beast story with a Hot twist and I mean Hot , The hot chemistry between Ember and Maverick, theirs doubts, misunderstandings will make you feel part of their story. I wanted to be Ember and let myself get lost in Maverick. The Secondary characters are filled with lots of different characters , you will fall in love with the storyline. I received an Arc and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
***spoiler***Maverick and friends decided they had enough of Vegas got people to manage their businesses and moved to Kansas City and blend in with people. He became a tattoo artist and Ember went to get a tattoo on a drunken bet, that is how they met. She had problems with her family after getting with Maverick they got things straightened out. Ember and Maverick had a some problems but love won out! Great book!
This was a fun premise, but the writing was off. There wasn't enough detail, and none of the voices sounded unique like switching from the fmc pov to the mmc pov, the tone didn't change, I never felt like 'yeah that's definitely different people'
Also quick PSA, this is not the reason for the low rating, but I do feel a minimal amount of research should be put into what you write. So, if your main character is a tattoo artist, you should be able to describe accurately what they're doing. This is the fourth book with a main character doing tattoos I've read where they say he 'free hands it'. That's not a thing (scratchers aside). Real artists either use stencils or even 'free hand' means it's drawn on a client's body first, then tattooed. Especially with the kind of work this character was doing.
I love this series already. I thought the author did a great job building the world around the characters, whilst introducing some of the wider friends who will appear in future books, and not distracting from the main characters storyline in the process.
Hot and steamy, I loved how the characters feelings were explored, how their backgrounds drove their behaviour and how they changed and wanted to be both someone else, yet truly themselves with each other.
Fairly new to this author (I have read a couple of her books but they were sport related) so I’m not sure of this is a departure from her norm but it’s well written and I’d definitely recommend it.

Ember is a girl who is always pushed around by not only her family but everyone except her friends. Maverick just wants people to not want his money or take advantage of him. Ember walks in and meets Maverick and the rest is history. They compliment each other while learning how to trust. Once you start reading this book you will not put it down until it is finished.
I absolutely adored reading this book, I love how Alexia Chase has introduced the characters for her new series. Each of these guys have adorable traits as well as frustrating moments, they are literally ready to fall in love although they don’t realise it at the time.
I loved how Maverick tried his best to avoid getting involved with Ember. The things of these to get up to to avoid having their futures planned. There are lots of heated moments especially when Maverick takes Embers virginity and how he fought falling for her. There is an HEA but it isn’t easily come by, but it does happen. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Was it steamy? Yes. Lots of sex? Yes. It was ok. Got a little bored by the end. It was all maybe very predictable for me? So I was looking for it all to wrap up instead of enjoying the 3rd half of the story.
This book started good, and it had a good premise. But thing things seemed to shift and got a little odd, for me. It almost felt like 2 authors.
There were a couple typos in this one. The most notable was using too rather than to. There were probably more, but I got to a point where I was skimming to just finish it.
I couldn't really get attached to the characters. Well, let me clarify, I did until about the time that she went back a day early to talk to him. That's around when things changed, and not for the better. She went from a nervous virgin to (as another review put it so accurately) talking like a bad porn star. The dirty talk was not hot.
Then you have someone, who is lauded for their confidence, and yet they admittedly only have slept with prostitutes and never pleasured a woman, yet suddenly with this virgin, he want to have her as his girlfriend and wants more with her. For something that happened in high school, it didn't seem to fit for me.
I'm all for inner dialog, but holy cow, there was a LOT in here. Not to mention, a lot of it was just not needed.
I didn't like these characters much, nor the supporting characters, really. I don't think we get to know them all that much. I will probably continue to the next book in the series, just to see if things get better. If not, I may drop the rest.
I would not read this one again, and I would not recommend it.
This book was just okay. At first I liked the hero but then he started to just give me the ick.
Ember is a virgin who is stuck in an unsupportive family and has never found the man for her. She is dared to get a tattoo and she is immediately attracted to the artist. Maverick is working as a tattoo artist after leaving his billionaire lifestyle to live as a normal man. He is attracted to Ember and the tow have to decide if they are right for each other.
Maverick was an interesting character but I did not enjoy the weird combination of insecurity and confidence. I don’t usually mind it but I feel like his insecurity was about something so ridiculous that every time it was brought up I just rolled my eyes. And the way that it basically impacted his whole life was just ridiculous.
I did like Ember but I just wish that there had been more time given to character development for her (and for Maverick to be honest). I don’t think that I would read this one again.
Ember is still at university and moved out from her parents home at 22 to live with her cousin. She couldn’t stand living under their roof any longer. Her father is a senator and although she had split up with her boyfriend that she couldn’t stand, her parents expect her to apologise and go crawling back to him. Her father is after a business relationship being strengthened through marriage. She has no intention of doing so. Unfortunately, her cousin Sydney is basically a tell-tale and Ember can’t get away with anything. The family butler and cook, an adorable couple, have been more like Embers parents since she was little. They actually support her choices. Maverick and his four best friends are self made billionaires in Vegas. They started their business when they were still in college and never looked back. But the lifestyle has grown stale and Maverick wants a change of scenery....to be able to walk down the road and not be recognised. The casino owners are known as The Four Horsemen and the Greek God. The five of them decide to go cross country to Kansas in the Midwest. There they are going to live like ‘normal people’, get 9-5 jobs, live simply. To add a bit of zest to the challenge, they decide that the first one of them to ‘woo’ a girl through personality rather than bank balance, will win $100,000. When Ember came home for the weekend she goes on a girls night out and after some Dutch courage decides to have a tattoo done. Maverick had chosen returning to tattooing as his ‘blending in’ job. He is enamoured by Ember from the first time he sees her, and tipsy or not, Ember doesn’t even want to fight her attraction to the gorgeous tattoo artist. A fantastic way to kick off a new series. It’s a well written story that introduces an intriguing concept and even more intriguing characters. Ember and Mavericks relationship is smoking hot from the off and only gets hotter and deeper as the book continues. Absolutely loved it.
I’ve had this book on my TBR for a while and realized it when I read a blurb posted on social media two days ago, so I chose to finally read it.
It was a quick read. Basically, there is a group of male billionaires who choose to go off grid and get away from all the fanfare of being rich guys in Vegas.
Maverick has some things that keep him from connecting with woman. He chooses to go off grid as a tattoo artist. Ember is a college student who has lived under her parents’ control, but is working on her plan to break free.
Ember goes to get a tattoo one night and meets Maverick. Their attraction is immediate, but things get in the way.
As I mentioned, this was a quick read and things moved relatively fast between Maverick and Ember. There is an age gap and she’s technically a virg1n, in that she’s never gone all the way with a man. Some of the physical scenes, at times, had me skim them due to the wording. This wasn’t a heavy thinking, twisted plot that was difficult to figure out. It’s basically… boy meets girl, boy and girl are attracted to each other, boy and girl connect and learn to be better versions of themselves, boy messes up and girl leaves him, boy and girl solve their issues and find their HEA.
Will I continue this series? Probably. I want to see how the other 4 guys find love. It was an easy, quick escape from the world.
Ember is tired of everyone telling her how to live her life. So she finally ends things with her boyfriend that her father handpicked for her and she's been secretly studying what she wants in college. However her father won't stand for her ending things with her boyfriend and tries to force them back together. She goes out with some friends and her cousin and ends the night getting a tattoo. Maverick is a tattoo artist and he is working the night Ember comes in with her friends and cousin. They leave her behind and she ends up picking her design for him to do. Its a design that's going to take more sittings to finish so she'll be seeing him more. When he hears that she has to call for a ride he offers to take her home. Sparks fly between them but Maverick fights his attraction for her. Maverick and Ember run into each other again at a club when she is having a fight with her ex and he steps in to help her. Will Maverick see that she's the one for her? Can she finally get the nerve to come clean with her parents?
This is a great story that will draw you in from the first chapter and leave you wanting more with the last one. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This is book 1 in the new series The Sinfully Ravishing Billionaire Series. Maverick and his four friends decide they want to leave the bright lights of Vegas and move where they aren’t known and to get average jobs to blend in. Ember comes from money and her parents are overly controlling trying to get her to do as they want. She is trying to learn to stand up for herself and do what she wants and not what she’s told to do.
One night Ember decides to get a tattoo and walks into the tattoo place where Maverick is working. The chemistry between the two is instantaneous but Maverick doesn’t think he’s good enough for Ember and Ember thinks he doesn’t want her and that she’s unlovable.
This was an amazing story. It was entertaining but also had lots of feeling. Both characters are caring and kind and would do anything for the people they consider family. Maverick helps Ember see she is stronger then she believes she is and Ember helps Maverick feel like he’s seen and loved for him and not just his power and money. Fate brought them together. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. I would like to start by saying that this book is definitely among my favorites that I have read this year. Kansas City seems a world away from Vegas and that is just how Maverick wants it. He and the guys made some big changes and so far life is better. Ember was not what he was expecting to walk into his life though. She has a family that takes advantage and is destructive to her life and she needs to change things. Maverick coming into her life gave her the love, support and respect she was lacking. At times, the sparks between them could set the pages on fire. These two were perfect for each other but had to work thru some issues to get their happy future together. I enjoyed so many things about their story. Two strong people who need a new direction in life and up finding the person who completes them. I am looking forward to what comes next in the series

I liked the way the author created Maverick as big and monstrous on the outside, but full of doubt and vulnerability on the inside. With Ember being the sweet virginal but manipulated only child of a selfish father bent on using her for his own political gain, she made a sweet partner for Maverick. A bit of a rough start for them as Ember hit rock bottom with her horrible father, money grubbing cheating ex boyfriend and nasty backstabbing cousin, Maverick had his work cut out for him convincing Ember that he really wanted her. As soon as the misunderstanding was cleared up their romance progressed with super sonic speed and Maverick;s instalust kicked in. His inexperience with real experiences had him a bit insecure in his ability to please Ember that created a lot of steamy scenes together. Oddly sweet that for all his years hooking up, he was innocent in his own way. No cheating with a well deserved HEA for this cute couple.

Well once again Alexia Chase has done it with Taming the Beast. This is the first book in The Sinfully Ravishing Billionaire series and if the rest of the books are like this then I am all in for the ride. All I can say is give me a hot, sex-on-a-stick, rich, built, Alpha tattoo artist like Maverick any day....Ember is one very lucky, and I do mean lucky, lady. Maverick may have moved from Vegas on a bet with his four best friends but he pulled the winning hand when he met Ember late one night in a Kansas City tattoo parlor. She is going to be his lucky charm for the rest of his life.
This story is really well written, has a solid story-line that will have you laughing, cringing, entertained and wanting more. The characters are terrific and have a palpable sexual chemistry which will have your Kindle smoking and you reaching for something cool to drink. Just be warned that you may not be able to put this book down once you crack it open. A definite RECOMMEND READ!!!
I should have liked this book more, but honestly it wasn’t hitting with me. There were just a lot of near misses and moments that didn’t connect. Starting with Ember, her parents had her when older, they come from old money and her dad is a Senator that wants her to go into politics, but they named her Ember?
Maverick is supposedly so well hung his HS girlfriend tells everyone he is a freak. He then spend 10 years only having sex with call girls and women who have been around so he does not put any effort into pleasing them. One chat with his friend though and he is a sex god?
The dialogue was going for sexy, but I found the dirty talk to be cringe. The spicy scenes were fine, but average. It is very insta-love. And he magically just knows when she is pregnant. They are both irresponsible with birth control and never discuss it,so really not a surprise there. There is also a third act break up, because surprise they don’t actually talk to each other.
So if you are looking for fine and cliché, the book will probably hit. I just wanted more depth.

The concept for the plot had amazing potential, though I’ve read books with “bet” plots before.
Unfortunately I’m one of those readers who can’t help but judge based on writing and not just the plot. The writing itself gave me “teen or young adult who thinks they sound mature because they talk this way” vibes.
The main characters’ voices were way too similar. Despite the fact that the MMC was supposed to be so much older and she was “too young and innocent” for him. He’s not that mature and she’s not that innocent.
Instant attitude one thing, but the I love yous coming within days of meeting is a little unbelievable for me.
Also, if I had a dollar for every time the author used the word “convulsed” in some manner, I could buy her dinner.
On a scale of “will I finish the series” it falls firmly in the “if my 100+ TBR is complete, and I’m bored.”
But I might check out book two, just to see if the writing is improved.
Everyone’s preferences for books and storytelling is different. So don’t base whether you read it on my review alone.
