My name is Daisuke Furutsu, and I died getting hit by a truck full of apples. Yes, I know it’s a cliché setup. Apparently somebody upstairs fell asleep on the job. Anyway, as an apology, God lets me draw five Cards of Fate that are supposed to grant me superpowers in my next life. My first four draws are amazing—stuff like magic and an infinite inventory. But everything changes with the fifth a “curse” that turns me into whatever killed me. I thought I was gonna end up a truck, but now I’m an apple!
Luckily, I’ve made a friend who can teach me how to move around. I also end up saving a wannabe adventurer who just might be willing to take me along for the ride. Time for this overpowered apple to get rollin’!
Guy named Furutsu (Fruit) gets killed by a fruit, reincarnates as a fruit, and has a hardwood staff stuck in his storage space. All jokes aside this was honestly much better than I expected it to be even with a slow start, and it seems like the author actually has the story planned out more than some other books I've enjoyed. If you're into this genre of light novels it's worth checking out despite how odd it sounds.
A decent little comedy. The skill wankery is kept to a minimum thankfully, so you won't have to read multiple pages about how he leveled up in ditch digging. In fact, I don't remember seeing anything like that at all, although Skills do exist. The setting is amusing and the lead heroine is fun. Hoping the plot doesn't take itself too seriously later though.
Subtlety, amid many other things, isn't the book's forte How I finished this piece of work I don't know In the reading of this "book" I endured pain and woe Trace the first letters and my opinion it shall portray
It was alright. Felt like definitely more of a web novel (like it didn't leave the story in a good place at the end I felt, felt more like they ran out of pages to keep going with it). The characters are cute enough, the story ridiculous and self-aware enough. I also felt some tension midway through with a real threat by the major enemy of the volume. It's satisfying seeing our little apple take down the villains in comically overpowered fashion.
