Okay first I need to say that the growth in P. Wise's work is amazing I'm happy to be able to witness it! This was another goid read from her. You can't help but to feel some type of way when it comes to Lyric. You just want to give her reassuring hugs and help help her whoop Chadd and Kayla's tails!!! I can't wait to find out what happens next. How does Lo really feel about her, and how is she going to take it when she finds out that it was only a job for him!? Whew lawd part 2 me now please!!

Lyric was in a loveless marriage with Chad! Chad was cheating with his secretary who Lyric helped find for him. Chad was laundering money for a mobster and taking a little extra for himself! The mobster had his son follow Lyric and get close to her. Lyric finds herself attracted to Lo. Chad cheating and him messing with a mobster’s money will end badly for him or Lyric or for both of them!

Wow poor Lyric she is in the middle of a mess that was created by her cheating husband that she had no idea about. Lo was put in a position to get to know Lyric because of the connection her husband has to his father but he wasn’t expecting to be really into her. I am not sure if Lyric will be able to come back from the betrayal of the situation that brought Lo into her life but we will see…

Chadd and dudes like him are the reason a good woman end up snapping by being mistreated and done wrong. Kayla snake ass I'll be glad when her and Chadd get their karma. I felt bad for Lyric she deserved comforting embraces, and I wanted to assist her with beating Chadd and Kayla snake azz so bad. I can't believe Lo did Lyric in such a way. He knew and understand the struggles she is going and went through and he still played with her feelings. Lord part 2 me please!

I enjoyed this story. I really like Lyric and how dedicated she is to her writing. Chadd and Kayla are something else. I'm glad Lyric decided to take matters into her own hands without letting on to what she knows. Just as Lo comes into her life and things seem to be going good for her, she gets caught up into the drama of Chadd's conniving ways. After that ending, Lyric's life is about to change. Can't wait to read part 2.

great quick read
This book had me hooked for a minute. Chad is so wrong but he going to get everything that he deserves. I hate the way he’s treating Lyric because of the weight she gained. If only she and Lo met under different circumstances. I just know it’s also going to come out that he’s married and I think she’s going to be more pissed about that.

I am here for this!! I couldn't put this one down... I think the worst thing a spouse can do is to have their side piece in their home that they share w their spouse... Cheating is bad enough... BUT to do it in UR own home... That's just a new low for me... Can't wait for the next book... I hope we don't have to wait too long... I don't want to forget this one....

Okay read but there were some things that irked me.
The title and cover. The MMC is not a Don. He's not the one making moves and he's not a boss. He's the son to the Don. He's biracial and he's keeping tabs on the FMC because his father told him to, down to "fuck her if it comes to that"....very ummm okayyy for me. The cover has a dark skinned sexy Black man. And the MMC is not dark skinned.
I get pissed when exotical looks pop out as description. Here we are told the MMC looks exotic sexy because of his light eyes, straight nose and bushy eyebrows. It was incredibly off-putting.
The MMC, Lo aka Logan, is married to an annoying chick. We're told Kat did some dirty thangs at the start of their marriage but he's trying to make it work. Another...ummm okayyyy moment. Because why the fuck would I want to read about this dude wanting to make it work with his wife while lying to the FMC? Why should I care when he has side chicks and jump-offs to release sexual energy? What is up with his FIL and seeing details of that? It made me like the MMC even less than I already did.
Lyric is an okay FMC. I like that she was trying to make smart moves once she was hit with the truth if her marriage. She wasn't begging, she wasn't sleeping him him to entice him. She deserves a better MMC and a better husband.
Overall

Meanwhile, I spent a good chunk of this book yelling:

The drama was messy, the betrayal was betrayal-ing, and every time I thought things couldn't get worse... they absolutely did. 🍿😮💨
What kept me listening was wanting to see Lyric finally choose herself and start weeding out the snakes hiding in plain sight. 🐍👀
The audiobook kept me fully invested, and while I wanted a little more from some of the character development, the drama alone had me locked in. 😂🎧

Chadd is disrespectful and needs to slapped for hurting Lyric, but doesn't care. With everything she's going though you would think he would be more understanding. Chadd is selfish when it comes to Lyric. He is a greedy a**. He told Kayla instead of Lyric they are both going to hit him where it hurts. Kayla is hussy going to try blackmail him and Lyric is going to divorce his a**, if don't kill him Lyric is going become a wealthy widow. Lo is going to fall in love with her. Cat isn't giving up Lo without a fight, but then again she could be free. Cat's father isn't going for that though.

Definitely a page turner.. I like the boss in Lyric for real. She lost a little bit of her confidence because of the situation she went/going through but baby still has it. I liked the fact that she makes her own and can take care of herself. Of course Lo has to be a boss but definitely has some sparks there for Lyric. He is the definition of there is a thin line between love and loyalty. His papa don't play.. hell he proved that with his mom but could he see their situation in his?

I hope lo don't be like his father they know they could have left her outta that. I'm so excited and waiting on book 2. U did good on yet another book and im looking forward to reading more of them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and while eating on popcorn while waiting on the next book to read

Okay read a little on the dry side but I wanted to finish what I started because I want to see the outcome really between Lyric and Lo. Waiting on part 2 no rush especially with the simple errors the editing staff should have caught which caused the rating to drop for me...look forward to reading some of your other to get a better read of this author.
