Diário de uma pessoa não tão ansiosa: Desvendando a vida adulta

Rate this book

It isn't every day that something comes along and stops me from what I'm doing, then takes my breath away. This is what HI, JUST A QUICK QUESTION did to me. I was fortunate to preview Beth's book, and it's one that I'll be sharing for years to come. Holidays, birthdays, celebrations, and more, esp. during these times. People need a guide like this. However, Beth's book is timeless. It's a guide for every day living. Somehow she's managed to write a book about me, for me. I'm certain you'll feel as though it was created for you too. Written in a Q&A format, Beth threads humor throughout, adding levity when needed. I've preordered a few copies for the adults in my lives and it'll be one for the teens in my life too. Beth created this book, and I'm better because of it.

Life can be so overwhelming and nauseating that we want to hit a reset button, crawl out of our own skin, and just be a totally different person than who we’ve always been.

It’s okay. It happens and it sucks. Don’t feel guilty for wanting to just quit your life. But just know there are a lot of us out there who feel the same way. We know and totally get that pain. There’s no one right solution to this problem ...

... but talk to someone. Let them know what’s happening. It’s cliched, but it’s also better than just sitting with a knot in your stomach watching the same things continue to unfold while you’re miserable. Even just verbalizing it can be a huge relief, and help you get through another day.

Life shouldn’t be about getting through days, you should be comfortable being an active participant. I hope you get there!

It's a bit difficult to define this book exactly. I think the best I can do is say that it's a warm hug, a reminder that no experience is truly individual and that no matter how dark the moment we're going through, it's possible to survive. The author once again hits the nail on the head when it comes to combining text with comics, thus addressing important topics in a humorous way, in a raw and realistic portrait of what it's like to deal with anxiety in adult life. The reading is super fluid and fast, the agile writing is an excellent way to conduct a text that addresses delicate topics, in addition to bringing dynamism to the tips the author gives on how to deal with anxiety and other issues in adult life. Overall, it was a book that I really enjoyed, holding my attention and making me laugh a few times. It's also always good to be able to reaffirm that there are so many other people out there dealing with the exact same issues as me. I also intend to apply some of the tips the book provides in my life, such as keeping a diary, being proud of my small achievements and trying to make new friends.

this is a how-to illustrated guide by beth evans who understands many of the day-to-day struggles that we encounter.

knowing beth evans' style of art via instagram, i kinda expected on whats to come for her book. its sort of like a compilation of similar posts on her insta which makes it a familiar and easy read. however, i find the advices a bit repetitive maybe bc i have been following her works all these while. i would prefer if she explores other themes/different art style. nevertheless, reading this is such a TREAT. this is also definitely a great book to be as a gift for your loved ones too! lots of great reminders and who can resist cute illustrations?? :)

i found some parts of the book helpful, but others were incredibly annoying to me. maybe its because of how depressed i am right now, but parts of the book come off as forcefully overly cheerful, and i'm just not in a mood for forced cheerfulness.

"sometimes the days feel like a waiting game. like nothing is happening, but the days keep passing. its ok - every day you are here is totally awesome!"
i can identify with the first two sentences, but the last one makes me want to claw my eyes out.

I liked this book. It was actually surprisingly very helpful!! I would recommend this book to any one of the ages between around 12-15. This book walks you through many real-world daily-life situations and how to deal with them such as personal boundaries, social anxiety, and panic attacks. It also talks about how to learn to love yourself, work on self care, and not procrastinating so often. I thought this book was really helpful. The only reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because this was my first self-help book and I’m very new to this genre. But overall a very good book!

I cried a lot reading this. Mostly because it made me think of my new friends. My new friends know I’m kind of mentally I’ll but they don’t know I’m suicidal to the point of I’ve attempted.

I feel like my review sidetracked. Anyway it’s a good book that gives great advice on a lot of things in life.

This book feels like a friend giving you advice. Written in the same style as her comics, with a lot of cute images sprinkled around. The book is more text-heavy than her comics, but it suits the topics.

It's very likely that not everything will be applicable to you right now, but there will be something in there for you. A book to keep around and come back to when you need it.

I’ve been following Beth Evans on Instagram for awhile now. She is real, funny, honest, and really understands what others are going through. I enjoyed this book as someone who is mental ill, and felt such a strong and powerful connection. Beautiful book.

Evans takes her own struggles with anxiety, grief, and self sabotage and created a forthright collection of questions that she has asked herself and the answers that she felt worked best for her. A good promotion of self care.

Didn't end up finishing this. I do believe it discusses important topics ( sometimes with too much writing ) and it was useful and has lovely tips to help you through tough times. Simple art style and the length just wasn't my taste.

I did not enjoy this book. I think many could find it helpful or humorous, but it just didn’t click with me. It seemed flippant at some times and I couldn’t connect with the author through her writing.

It's less a graphic novel than an illustrated work, but Beth's advice to herself and to those of us listening is solid, validating and normalizing.

The loveliest, happiest, self-help book I’ve ever read. The illustrations are amazingly humorous and compassionate, and it covered everything I wanted to read about! Thanks you, Beth Evans for making me smile during a difficult time!

It's cute. But the information was a bit common sense level. Wished the author could be more personal

Small, sweet, and exactly what I needed. I'm so grateful for Beth Evans and the obvious love she puts into the world, even as it crashes, it's filled with her love.

absolutely wonderful - with lovely comics, beth evans guides the reader through basically every aspect of how to tackle life in a uniquely relatable way. while reading it i constantly thought how i want to share this, and that, and everything about this book, either because it helps me, or i know it will help someone else or make them smile. i also laughed a lot, and considering the big mess that life just is, this is a very comfortable way to be led through self-reflective content. i am excited to read beth's other book now! and every other beth writes ❤️

I didn't finish this book as I am not finding the first 20% too relatable... I'm sure it is good content though. But I was expecting something else more humorous.
