I was very interested in the first half of this book, which discussed the connections between Candlemas and Imbolc (and Christian traditions which evolved from likely Celtic roots).
A very interesting book. What a well written and researched book this was full of such great information much of it I had never heard before. The book captivated me as I learned about this topic. I am a person of faith and I truly believe that to understand your belief is to understand others. What I have found is that it is only the way of dealing with the belief that is different the belief is the same. This was an excellent book.
Seeing how it’s the night before Feb 1, and Imbolc is not something I’m terribly familiar with, I figured I’d pop over on KU and see what’s free to read. This feels like a good primer. I also like how it included other, non-Eurocentric festivals and deities. Still, it’s a 3 star rating because it is also very superficial and short.
Despite those shortcomings, I encourage other Imbolc knowledgeless folks to give this a try.
A really interesting and informative book. I had the audiobook and although I really enjoyed it, I definitely think it would be better in physical format. Highly recommend it for anyone interested in the history behind imbolc and the celebrations that accompany it
