"And let me guess, you're a bad boy type, huh?" Callum grins menacingly, running his tongue over his straight white teeth. "The worst, babe."

VANESSA : I'm a good girl. I don't get into trouble, I don't break curfew, and I don't even date. I broke my own rules for him; the man that so many people fear. I thought I saw a side of him that nobody else did; that he wasn't the monster people made him out to be. I knew my prayers were answered when I discovered he was my fated mate, and hoped that the two of us would live happily ever after together. I never expected him to leave the next day and break me in unimaginable ways. I never imagined he'd become the villain in my story.

When I started this book, I already knew this author, but unfortunately, I hadn't read any books from her, so the time finally came to read this book as an ARC reader, and I was so excited. At first, I didn't understand how a sweet thing like Nessa chose the company of Cal. Later on, it was what I loved about this story. Ness with her sweet, confident but somewhat naive personality versus the dark, grim, observing Cal. The story was deep and meaningful, how everybody saw Cal and how Nessa saw him. Sometimes it left me happy and content, and other times I felt this eerie silence when we got to Cal's past. And my heart shattered when Nessa was left alone... But the friendship between Cal and the guys, and between Vee and Ness was something everyone should need in their life. I loved this story because Cal always saw himself as a monster, and Ness as an angel. But Nessa saw Callum as a person with a tough upbringing and parents not worth mentioning. She knew from the first moment, he was someone worthy and smart, and utterly talented. Their story was a perfect balance, of personality, past experiences, and their view of the world.
If you want to see how an angel fell in love with a monster, who's not really who he portrays himself to be, then this bumpy ride is definitely for you!
Out of all of CJ Primer's books, I thought "Broken Bond" was by far the best. It's not because it showed what would happen with a broken mating bond, although that was a nice switch up, but because the characters and their chemistry were both so well-developed. It was a bit of a "good girl" falling for a "bad boy," but I like how they play off of one another and start to fall for each other. It's then interesting to see how their stories unfold, separately and together, after breaking the mating bond. There were some additional plot twists that added to the story, and I added more background and depth to the MMC. Highly recommend, and definitely 5 stars to me.
This book is a stand alone spin off from the six pack series by C.J. I found myself a bit doubtful about it, as the six alphas story was told, but boy was I wrong! This book has a compelling storyline and is so worked out thoroughly I could not put it down! I fell in love with the main characters and do not want to let them go, just yet ! A book not to be missed ! With a bonus short story at the end of it. Enjoy !
If you’re into Dark Broody/Grumpy Tattooed Mysterious BB, this is your book: Broken Bonds is a spin-off of “The Six-Pack Series” .. and oh boy … Cal brings the heat just as hard as any of the The Alphas 🔥🥵
Callum, has a dark and haunting secret, a Step-father hell bent on never allowing Cal to forget it, a step brother set on taking a position, Cal’s been training for in his pack. He’s withdrawn, never allows people too close, always keeps people at arms length .. that is until he meets Vanessa.
Nessa, is happy, strong, determined and carefree. She is loved and adored by family & friends. She’s the exact opposite and exactly what Cal craves, he needs her warmth, her sunshine to light his darkness. They are drawn to each other like magnets, the more they resist, the harder they fall. All the slow-burn, tension and angst leading to an explosive love, neither one can tame.
When Cal’s Stepfather threatens and uses Cal’s past for his own selfish gain, Cal does the only thing he knows how to do .. he leaves .. thinking Nessa will have a better life without his troubled past. On their last night together, they find out they’re fated mates .. but even that isn’t enough to make Cal stay .. And in leaving without marking Nessa, their bond breaks💔😢
What becomes of Nessa and Cal? Does Cal ever get the courage to fight his inner demons, come back home and fight for the only person, who unconditionally loved all of him, the good, the bad, the ugly? Or has time mended Nessa’s heart, leaving her no other choice, but to move on with a broken bond?
I absolutely love this book, Cal’s underdog redemption character arc is an amazing journey, you’ll cheer both Cal and Nessa on, individually and together. You’ll admire Nessa’s tenacity and willingness to fight for fire the fire that burns within her, that only Callum can make her feel. I highly recommend
A damaged man’s love life is almost too good to be true, so he destroys it before he can destroy it…

Cal thinks himself a bad guy. A dangerous guy. He had a really shitty childhood that brought out the darkness in him, and so only has a very small circle of people he trusts.
But when he lays eyes on Nessa he and his wolf are both immediately interested. Good job she seems keen too! If only Miles would back off…
Well this book was a bit different to what I was expecting. I knew it was a rejected mates kinda thing (because that’s what I was after) but it wasn’t 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 a rejection in the way it usually happens with this trope.
It did feel a bit like their time apart was very short lived and we went from the point riiiiight before the heartbreak to Cal trying to win Nessa back basically straight away. Except that four months had passed, we just didn’t witness any of it.
I think if their time apart had been fleshed out in the book or at least given real on-page time, it would have felt more meaningful. But as it was, it almost felt pointless. Just a tool to force the plot in a certain direction but not truly part of the story. If that makes any sense?
I would have enjoyed seeing a bit more of their wolves too. For a shifter book, I only remembered they were shifters when speedy healing was mentioned or “a flash of wolf” shone in someone’s eyes.
I still enjoyed the read, Nessa was so good for Cal and he truly deserved something good in his life with the shitty hand of parents he’d been dealt.
This was a stand alone book but it still slotted in brilliantly into the Six- Pack series.
Who doesn’t love a brooding bad boy? Cal is withdrawn, dark and mysterious and I am here for it!
Damn he went through so much in his life and his tortured soul came out in this book. He tried to do everything he could to warn Nessa off but she wasn’t having any of it.
I loved Nessa in Chases book so I’m glad that we got to see what she was getting up to during the last book when she was so secretive.
They are light and dark and complemented each other perfectly.
This one was totally different to the first 6 books because of you’ve read the previous books you know the ending there said Cal had walked away after finding out they were mates. I knew he wasn’t a bad guy even back then in chases book so I was interested to see why it would happen.
This story had everything and I wasn’t sure if there would be a HEA but I’m glad there was. I don’t believe the mate bond can be fully broken by the next moon unless they both agree to reject each other, I think if one wants it then if feels like it goes away but they can rekindle it.
This also had a nice ending where we basically saw the same epilogue from chases book but from Nessa’s pov.
There was also a cheeky bonus chapter for Logan and wow was that hot!
This series got better and better (although chases was my least favourite book) and this last one rounded it off nicely.
If you love to read steamy dark fantasy books about werewolves, love, fated bonds, pack hierarchies, overcoming hardships, turning tragedies into catalase for triumph and success all with a refreshing and very original twist look no further!
Broken Bond is a novel by @c.j.primer based on her highly adored six pack series. This book can be read as a standalone like all of her others(so delightful when authors do this), however to get even more pleaser out of this read and background/character development I recommend that you read the whole six pack series first.
I say that because yes you could get away with just reading the last book in the six pack series 'Alpha Chase' to get adequate prerequisite information. But starting there and not reading the books prior to that will do that book less justice as well. Thus you should read the whole series.
Trust me you will not be disappointed. You'll only regret not starting it sooner. I know I did everytime I paused between books. Find Broken Bond on Kindle or checkout CJ's REAM and subscribe to the tier that best suites you both provide access to Broken Bond.
Side note: if you're a weirdo like me and enjoy a good misguided heartbreak to "protect" the other person. But it's well executed and not cringey, this is for you. If you think its going to get cringey or the characters will respond in a stupid or ridiculous way release that breath because it ain't happening.
I love paranormal romance books and this one did not disappoint. The first day I stayed up late reading at least half of the book. The chemistry between the ML (Cal) and the FL (Nessa) had sparks flying and I could not put it down.
It all started with a bet but turned into something so much more. Cal starts out doing something for the wrong reasons but then he turns it around for the right ones. I won't lie. There will be times you will be angry or disappointed with Cal. However, the pain you feel from him is clearly felt across the pages and you understand the decisions he has made, even if you don't agree with them.
This story is about giving second chances and never losing faith in a loved one no matter what the circumstances are showing. Nessa shows her true strength in being able to forgive and support her loved ones.
I fell in love with these characters and hope you do as well. I can't wait to read more from C.J. Primer.
A spin-off & extra addition to the already amazing Six Pack Series, this book continues its legacy and does not fail to deliver.
When sweet and innocent Nessa lays eyes on the dark and damaged Callum, the attraction is instant. Despite himself, Cal can’t keep away and the relationship takes hold with Nessa trying to show him that he is worthy of love as she discovers there’s more to the bad boy than meets the eye. But Callum holds a secret he’s worried will bring Nessa down with him and in his own way he tries to save her from himself.
This is a wonderful story of love, redemption and second chances, not forgetting the spice and all that entails 🌶️❤️🔥 I loved reading this for a second time, I love this series and this world that the author has created.
If you haven’t already tried it, I highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a spin off from the six pack series and is about Callum and Vanessa who are the best friends of Alpha Chase and Vienna.
When they first meet there is an initial attraction and they find out they are mates. Callum has a secret and to protect it and Vanessa he leaves for a mission without telling her and breaks their bond leaving her heartbroken. Fast forward four months and he returns finding the attraction still there.
This book is full of angst and sparks between the leads. You want Cal to tell Nessa his secret and you know there is more to the incident than meets the eye. This is your typical werewolf story in fact the leads are mates but it takes a spin on how they get together. This comes with humour, love, retribution, revenge and the all important spicy scenes. A great spin off to an improving series.
I thought this was a stand alone and not tied to a whole series, which is on me, because this was really confusing. Why is an 18 year old alpha of a whole pack and his 18 year old friends are his enforcer/seconds? I felt like I was reading an episode of Riverdale lol. No explanation as to what a Luna is (figured it out from context) or how pack life is structured, and we didn’t know if humans knew about them until it was mentioned like mid book that it was a secret. Lots of questions about the world building (there was none) but again this is why it shouldn’t be called a standalone I’m assuming all this was explained in the first book of the series because this is a spin off. Liked the main characters well enough but a bit too juvenile for me. The writing was good so I might read the first in the series to give it a fair shot!
Very appreciative to C. J. Primer for the free review copy and allowing me to read this book. I look forward to reading more from the Six-Pack Series.
Broken Bonds is a dark and angsty paranormal romance novel that sucked me in and kept me hooked until the very end. The story follows Vanessa, a good girl who never breaks the rules. But when she meets Callum, her fated mate, she tosses all her rules right out the window. She thinks she sees a side of him that nobody else does, and she falls deeply in love.
Vanessa and Callum are very complex but relatable characters. Strong and independent, Vanessa, who is also vulnerable from being hurt. Callum is a dark and mysterious man, and it is difficult to know whether he is truly capable of redemption.
The story was emotional and suspenseful, and kept me guessing until the very end. The romance scenes are steamy and passionate, but they are also balanced with the darker elements of the story. It is a story about love, loss, and forgiveness, and it will stay with you long after you finish. Just be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster!
This is my first book by this author, and I was not disappointed!
The chemistry between Nessa and Cal is so palpable it leaps off the page! Their relationship is one that feels so real, so genuine that you can imagine it happening in real life - the beautiful, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
These are my favorite kind of stories - where you get so immersed and lose yourself binge-reading because you just can't stop!
Cal has always been the loner of the group. Grumpy and easily angered. When Chase was pretending not to like Vienna, she would bring her best friend along, Nessa. Nessa was attracted to Cal, and Cal found he liked her attention. Nessa was the good girl to his bad boy. There attraction was definitely there. Cal has a dark past, which he was not willing to share with her. She liked what info was given though. She knew there was much more. She was willing to wait for it.
I love everything that C.J. Primer writes and this book did not disappoint. You go for a ride through your emotions throughout this book. They both go from being broken to piecing each other back together like a puzzle. I could not put the book down, and when I finished I wanted more. Do yourself a favor and read this book!! It is part of my collection now and I see myself reading it over and over.
Love this book, it's the bad boy with the good girl trope. C.J. Primer has such a beautiful way to make you understand and see the point of view of the two characters . It's my second time reading this book and I can't wait to re reading it again. Can't wait for more from her. It's a two person point of view, if you are new at the series please start with Alpha Gray, I'll make more sense and you will be glad to not skip any book from her.
Broken Bond is a dark, emotional gut-punch wrapped in fated-mate fire and alpha angst. Callum’s alpha energy is dangerous, magnetic, and deeply broken—he’s the villain you can’t help but root for, even as he shatters Vanessa’s heart. His intensity makes the romance feel high-stakes and raw, but his emotional damage and self-loathing bring serious baggage. If you love tortured alphas with redemption arcs, this one will wreck you—in the best way
The entire six-pack series is amazing and grips you completely. This book is no exception. You go from happy to furious and frustrated with characters and back again a million times, but always rooting for them. I can't wait to read about the next generation when that series comes out!
I was hooked on the six pack series and can't wait to own every single one in paperback. Now Broken Bonds have to be added to that wish list. What a great story, you truly are one of the most talented authors. Congratulations on another successful story. I can't wait for the next book!
Recommend reading the 6pack series first bc all the characters are talked about before now.
Recap: Vanessa is Vienna from Alpha Chase books bestie, she is a bubbly sunshine that has a big amazing family, when she meets the bad boy with a broken home, Callum at a party, they are both instantly drawn to one another. Callum is usually great at reading people but Vanessa throws him through a loop when she is just herself, opposite of everything he is. His darkness comes from his step father’s abuse as a child and causes him to have a short temper and hating the dark and quiet. The first half of the book is all about their relationship growing and how Cal shows Nessa the parts of him that no one sees, his drawing and art and sweet caring side. The problem is he made a stupid bet with Miles about who can have sex with her first. Miles actually was trying to help his buddy get the trans he needs for his car but also loves to bet. When Cal and Nessa are close to doing the deed she says she’s a virgin and he flips out, causing her to leave. He storms to Miles apt and declares the bet is off, he never liked to anyway but no, but miles won’t let him off unless he give us his spot of the mission. Even though Cal continues to do dumb things to piss off Nessa bc of his insecurities but she forgives him. He realizes she sees the beauty in things and loves a beautiful view over a gift always. They finally do the deed and Miles sticks to the bet and Cal takes Nessa on a date in the car, she has no idea about the bet. When Cals stepdad demands they come for dinner he is skeptical and worried this could ruin everything, and it definitely changes it all. Cal gets in his head that he believes she deserves better and he can’t keep her from finding it. The moon has other plans…when on their pack runs they end up together at his cabin in the words and are fated mates. After an amazing night he sticks to his plan and leaves for the mission with only a short note. He breaks their bond, which is horrible and no one has heard of it happening before and she is left to put the pieces back to her life while he’s gone on the mission to find the remaining shadow pack. 4months later Nessa has begun to heal from the heart break and broken bond, she has moved into Chase/Vees pack house to get a new space and away from her family that was smothering her. She is dating Miles, well trying to, but she couldn’t bear to be intimate due to her heart being somewhere else, even if the bond didn’t exist anymore. Miles was sweet and cared about Nessa and was very patient but when Cal comes home from his mission and everyone is out at the bar, instantly they are drawn to one another. Nessa avoids him most of the night and Cal knows he has a lot of work to do if he wants to win his woman back. He still loves Nessa and his books of sketches shows that she is all he thought about. Every time he tried to talk to her all she wants is why and he can’t tell her the truth about his past and she can’t accept it. When Cal comes to the pack house to talk to Nessa, he realizes Miles is there and in a jealous rage for meeting they still have a connection, Miles spills about the bet all those months ago. Nessa is pissed and storms away from them both, she wants to be alone. Eventually she is so mad she storms to Cal apt and confronts him, and they kiss, sparking something…but Cal still has secrets. Vee drags Nessa to a lake party with the 6pack squad where she talks to Miles and he apologizes but she breaks it off, he just hopes one day to find someone who looks at him they way they look like one another. When they are both drunk they hook up in the lake, they feel another spark and hope that their bond is coming back together. Cal knows he has a lot of work to do if he wants Nessa back, he takes her on a date for the best view in all the territories, and finally spills his secret. She still loves him but something tells her he was set up, so she talk to Chase alone and they know they need more info from Rob. When the convo with Rob isn’t clear Cal feels like she won’t be able to get past this to be together. When he asks her she hesitates but before he can storm away he says she can, they make love all night long. The next morning with the help of Vee and Chase they come up with a plan to get the truth. Cal has his stepdad Troy come to his apt to talk, where he get him talking and the truth is revealed that he didn’t actually Kill that woman last year, but that he set him up and the woman faked it bc Troy paid her, but he killed her to have no loose ends. All this time Troy has tried to destroy Cal when he is the real monster. Thankfully Chase had been on the phone listening the whole time and Cal gets justice, and Troy is banished from the pack in which his mom goes too. His step brother stays and over time they coexist. On the next full moon Cal and Nessa meet at their cabin, they accept to just being chosen mates but then they feel something again, when they connect and make love they feel their canines descend. When they both mark their bond snaps back into place. They are so excited and can’t believe they have been given a second chance as fated mates. Cal promises to never leave again and accepts the enforcer position with the pack. 4 years later she is about to pop with their pup and her bestie just had their own, they live HEA

Such an easy read. Kind of a new twist compared to the other books. So it was a nice change up. I enjoyed Cal and Nes. Cal was definitely my kind of dreamy dude except that no matter how many times Nes tried to show him how she saw him he wouldn’t believe it. But over all the spice was great, I love the world building of these books and getting to see the previous characters again.
Loved this book so much! The author has an amazing ability to write in the perspective of the characters-you feel their emotions-which I absolutely love. Fantastic storyline and extremely well written. I give an enthusiastic five star review -a must read!!
Cal and Nessa’s story is when 2 opposites not only attract but complete each other. Born and raised in 2 different packs with 2 completely different backgrounds, they are drawn to each other. This story is about love, heartbreak, lies, and second chances. Definitely a top fantasy and love read. I can’t wait to read more of CJ Primer’s books (I love the 6-pack Series)!!
I have read the six pack series several times and can see myself coming back several more times. The six pack series has always caught my attention and kept it. No matter what. Can’t wait to read the new novels (or anything before hand) that C.J. Primer has in store.
I have read the entire 6 pack series and now reading companion novel, it’s the story I never knew I needed. I genuinely enjoyed the character growth, the trials and tribulations the couple has to go through. It’s got story, heart and smut 🌶️ - very well written. I definitely recommend!
Ohh,if I liked the first books in this series, this one is one of the best! It's one of the stories where the bad boy falls in love with the good girl!I loved how Vanessa saw the goodness behind Callum's mask of a "monster". He taught he doesn't deserve a wonderful, pure and lovely girl like her. I just devoured this book!
I have loved all the book in the series. This one is no exception. I couldn’t put it down and pretty much read the book in less then two days! I can’t wait to see what else you come out with.
There was some hurtful things, but it had me hook, line and sinker! I couldn’t stop reading. I love and hate parts of it but that’s what makes it a good story when it’s unpredictable.
