I was shook and in awe of the unique premise. I devoured this opposites attract romance, set in a dimension that is a mirror to ours, but culturally hedonistic.
Dominic travels from our world to Layla’s where she is tasked with ushering him and his team into the customs of a free loving and pleasure focused society. In this world, nudity is the fashion and assuaging primal urges is similar to grabbing your morning coffee.
Ironically, in this hyper sexualized world, the romance between them is a slow burn. I enjoyed the conversations, centered around the extremes in their differing sentiments on monogamy and sexuality. This was just so smart and strange in the best possible way.
I also appreciated the fact that the third act conflict is external. The quagmires of inter-dimensional travel was a drop my iPad and scream moment. Honestly, after that reveal I want an entire series.
I am definitely ready to continue now that I know that all of the books are linked in such a unique way.
