This My Love Isn't Goodbye
In search of truth, little did I anticipate that my journey would take me from Georgia, across oceans, all the way to the Fertile Crescent. Working through my misconceptions of the region, Iraq was transformed in my heart to a place of longing. It transported me 1400 years back to a time when saints gave the ultimate sacrifice. They ensured that for as long as the sun rose and set, mankind would have the ability to know their Lord. It is a timeless gift and a breathing miracle.
From my roots in Christianity, to searching endlessly for answers to my souls’ longings, I found myself at the doorsteps of Islam. A decade after making my intent to go to Iraq, the invitation to go to Ziyarat and visit the shrines of the Imams finally arrived. Yet such a trip does not begin when you arrive. It begins when you connect with the heritage of Ahl al-Bayt, allowing their treasures to transcend you to the Beloved.

I’m not sure what I expected starting this book but I’m glad I did. Paul McCoy found his way to Shia Islam thru the great Tajani’s book, Then I was Guided and eventually had the blessing of visiting Iraq twice.
He shares his experience of visiting different cities in Iraq and the holy shrines located within them as well as how his experience with the Iraqi people helped him reaffirm his own faith as well as how he helped those he interacted and shared his personal experiences with.
McCoy’s writing style is very calm and it feels like you’re sitting there listening to him recount these stories. This book made me want to go back and visit Iraq again with a much more expanded itinerary!

أمريكي من اصل افريقي
قرأ كتاباً لأحمد ديدات فأسلم! ثم واصل في القراءة لكل ما تقع عليه يده من الكتب التي تتحدث عن الاسلام حتى قرأ كتاب (ثم اهتديت) فاختار أن يكون محبا لأهل البيت عليهم السلام, وهنا لا بد أن يخطر في بالي كلام سيدي ومولاي الامام الجواد عليه السلام : (المؤمن يحتاج إلى توفيق من الله، وواعظ من نفسه، وقبول ممن ينصحه ). وهنا محط اعجابي فهو من قراءة كتب تاقت نفسه للاطلاع عليها بحثاً عن إجاباتٍ لأسئلة جاشت في صدره، اهتدى و وفقه الله و قَبِل النصيحة.
يحدثنا أنّ نفسه اشتاقت سنيناً عدة لزيارة المراقد المقدسة للشيعة في العراق فوفقه الله لذلك مرتين في 2013 و2017 وهو في الكتاب يحكي عن زيارتيه تلك و عن بعض ما واجهه في حياته.
