These literary masterpieces are made easy and interesting. This series features classic tales retold with color illustrations to introduce literature to struggling readers. Each 64-page eBook retains key phrases and quotations from the original classics. Read two of the most intriguing mystery stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In "The Adventure of the Speckled Band" the sharp-eyed Holmes, along with his friend, Dr. Watson, is able to save the life of a young woman fated by an evil stepfather to meet a horrifying death. "The Boscombe Valley Mystery" is even more difficult to solve, but Sherlock Holmes comes to the rescue again and saves an innocent young man from a fate he does not deserve.
I read this book because I needed to read a ya Graphic Novel and I love stories of Sherlock Holmes. I don't think that this particular book should be taught in schools, but rather the actual novels that Sir Arthur Canon Doyle wrote. Warnings (For the Faint of Heart): Drugs - There are a few mentions of smoking a pipe during the investigations that Holmes and Watson go on. Violence - People were killed/murdered and this is talked about, but not in much detail.
This was great! I loved the illustrations. I’m excited to have my grade schoolers read it! It’s obviously not as good as the original stories but to get younger kids into the classics you can’t beat these!
Yg pertama itu salah, krna kok liat sampulnya g ada yg sama, mgkn krn cetakan baru ya? Ya sudahlah yg penting judulnya sama, tp bkn paperback, krna lbh tebal. (he..he..kelamaan pembukaannya) intinya, ni buku aku beli dah lama tp blm finish2 krna kburu tertarik bca yg lain. Tpi dari yg dah dibca, u/ jenis cerita detektif ga bkin kelamaan mikir krna mmg ini kumpulan kasus2nya sherlock, jd lbh pendek.
It's hard to rate this book because it is in comic-book format. I think it did a very good job of condensing the material and putting it into comic format. The illustrations are good and it doesn't leave out much as far as the plot goes. It's good for kids and adults who want to brush up on the story, but it naturally doesn't have all the nuances that the book does.
