The Sims has been a major part of my life for the past 20 years. I HAD to buy this cookbook and read it immediately. After finishing it, I'm left feeling slightly disappointed; though, I don't think that will be the case for everyone.

To understand why I am disappointed, I need to give some backstory. I started with the Sims 1 and was dedicated through Sims 2 and 3. I still play the Sims 3 to this day. I never bought Sims 4 because honestly... I thought it looked like trash. That is still my opinion. Unfortunately for me, this book is geared toward Sims 4 enthusiasts.

There's a few recipes from Sims 2 and 3 but the primary focus of this book is on 4. Each recipe includes a fun little paragraph and some have "fun facts" from the games. I found it to be slightly irritating, however, because the the paragraphs and fun facts were almost entirely about the Sims 4, even on recipes that were from Sims 2 or 3.

I was especially excited for the drink recipes and yet, ALL were from the Sims 4. The Sims 2 and 3 may be old games but they still have a loyal and nostalgic fan base; many of which who are of the age to want and use a cookbook.

As for the actual recipes, they look great. The instructions are detailed and easy to follow. I do wish that each recipe included a picture of the food, though.

To wrap this up, if you want this cookbook because you loved Sims 2 and 3, you may want to pass on it. This cookbook was written with Sims 4 players in mind and that's fine but I'm not sure I would have bought it had I known that. I think it would have been better titled as The Unofficial Sims 4 Cookbook and just left out the previous games altogether.

Look, most cookbooks aren't really meant to be read through cover-to-cover, and this one was no different in that respect. I picked it up because of the game tie-in factor, because I'm a total Sims nerd at the moment (and have been off-and-on since Sims 1). A lot of other reviewers were sad that this cookbook focused so heavily on Sims 4 dishes, but I personally didn't mind that as I didn't have too many recollections attached to specific dishes from Sims 1 and 2 (I never played 3). Sims 4 is what I'm playing now so that was fine for me. The reason this didn't get a higher rating was really that it was just neither impressive as a straightforward cookbook or as a totally geeky delightful game tie-in. There were some little Sims tips and tricks and tidbits of information scattered throughout, but ultimately not that many. The introductory blurbs for each recipe were very referential to events and NPC characters in the games, but not in any particularly clever or deep way. To be honest, I could have enjoyed almost as much a photospread featuring one excellent photo of each recipe side-by-side with its animated version from the game. The recipes themselves were probably fine, but the problem with designing a functional cookbook based on a game like this is that many of the core dishes are basic enough that there isn't much point in having them in a cookbook. Take grilled cheese sandwiches: classic, quintessential Sims dish, but also super unnecessary in a cookbook. On the one hand it's obvious that you need to include it (and I actually support the choice not to try to dress it up as a more elaborate, fancier version), but on the other hand it's kind of an absurd concept. Additionally I wasn't super impressed, as I read the recipes, by the weird unevenness of the culinary choices. A Caesar salad calls for Caesar salad dressing rather than having the cook mix their own; butter chicken calls for... a jar of butter chicken sauce? Waffles require baking mix. Uh, okay. Then on the other hand there is a recipe for minty mocha cupcakes that are fully from scratch - not a single cake mix to be found. It's just a perplexing set of choices taken on the whole. The best part was the cocktail section, because those, at least, seemed more defensible as drink recipes and really made a concerted effort to mirror the aesthetic and presumed flavor profile of the drinks in-game.

If I were redesigning the book, more photos and illustrations generally, and I would have leaned in hard on the game data side of things (for example, you could put color info on each recipe about the 'Cooking skill level' required for the dish, or share details about the stats of that particular dish in-game such as nutrition qualities, etc.). Ultimately, though, it's a cute harmless cookbook and there's nothing super wrong with it. It's just no better than it has a right to be.

This is so entirely cute I can barely stand it. I didn't expect much, but as a Sims fanatic from Day One of Sims, I had to have this book even if it was a dud. To my huge surprise, it is not a dud, on any level.

It is absolutely delightful to see recipes for the weird little things my Sims cook for themselves and their friends and families. I was happy to find out that Pan de la Muerte was an actual dish and now I know how to make it. There are also recipes for simple things like Caesar Salad and the Sims favorite, Grilled Cheese, although my daughter thought that recipe should include placing a fire extinguisher in a convenient place. IYKYK. Each recipe tells which Sims edition or special pack the recipe can be found and has a cute little explanation of each one. There are occasional tips about playing the Sims as well.

But also it's just a great basic cookbook that can legitimately be used. Maybe you don't need a recipe for Grilled Cheese, but what about Lobster Thermador or Pan de la Muerte? There are all sorts of great recipes for breakfast, dinner, snacks and - to my surprise - interesting cocktails.

This is not just a Sims collectible, it's an actual cookbook. Aside from the delight it will bring a Sims lover, it can really be used, and that makes it 5 stars.

I was lucky to be given an advanced copy of this book- and I was delighted, as a long time Simmer and content creator, to see how well done it was. Anyone who's ever played the sims will appreciate this book.

It's not simply a cookbook, but an experience. Every recipe includes either helpful tips of little bits of lore from the franchise. While there are zany, whimsical recipes like gummy bear pancakes, there are also elegant, company-ready dishes, including lobster thermidor and the classic goopy carbonara.

All recipes are easy to follow, and even tell you their importance in the sims franchise. Beautiful photographs, lots of humor and heart are just a few reasons why I'd recommend this cookbook!

This was so fun! I play the sims a LOT, and I have googled recipes from the game countless times. The sims lore and funny little trivia things included really bumped up the enjoyable factor. I love that some of the drinks were also included as well and can't wait to try them. This is such a great way to see video game recipes come to life.

I think it's a really cute cookbook and I can't wait to try out recipes. I didn't like that the measurements are American in the recipes and at the end it is finally converted to European measurements. I would have liked it more if the measurements were both in the recipes.

And I thought the book was for the Sims 4, so I was quite surprised to see some 1, 2 and 3 recipes in there as well.

As someone who has been playing the Sims since its inception (Sims 1 - and yes, I just highlighted my age with a big yellow highlighter), this was more of a nostalgic read for me than anything.

Seeing some of the recipes my Sims have made over the years come to life was pretty awesome, and I'm actually going to give some of them a try!

4.5 stars, with half a star deducted because I would have loved it if all the recipes had come with photos; only a few of them did.

So Sweet, So Tasty!

I'm trying to get into cooking and developing my skills IRL. I love The Sims, and I didn't know so many secrets of the game included cooking adventures! Since I read this on my Kindle, I took screenshots and plan to take a trip to the grocery store IRL and get cooking! Hopefully, I won't set the house on fire again...

I love The Sims, and I have been playing the games since the first iteration. The cookbook includes 88 recipes based on food in The Sims games. There are recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, sides, dessert, and drinks. Each recipe lists what game or games the recipe can be found in and includes ingredients and numbered directions. The ingredients for pancakes, waffles, cookies, and cakes often ask you to use premade mixes, but there are a few recipes that have you actually making the dough, so I believe the cookbook is good for both beginners and home cooks.
However, only 35 of the recipes include pictures, and I would have loved to see more photos of dishes. There are photos of the Prosciutto-Wrapped Asparagus but not of Cioppino. I have no idea what Cioppino is, but apparently, it is a dish with mussels and shrimp. I am unsure how it was decided what dishes got photos because the cookbook would definitely benefit from more photos, especially of the desserts. Also, I would have loved to see pictures from the Sims games to see the reference! Besides the lack of photos, I do enjoy this cookbook, and I have already made several recipes including the Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich, Roast Chicken, Caprese Salad, and Caesar Salad. I am excited to try out more recipes including the Autumn Salad, Butternut Gnocchi, Elote, and Minty Mocha Cupcakes. My daughter would also love to try the Silly Gummy Bear Pancakes.
Also, I do want to address a criticism I have seen of this cookbook. Even though there are 88 recipes based on all The Sims games, a majority of the recipes come from The Sims 4. In fact, there are 63 recipes based on dishes in The Sims 4, 11 based on The Sims 3, 4 based on The Sims 2, and 10 that are based on a combination of the games. I personally do not mind that most of the recipes are based on The Sims 4 because I play that version the most while I will pop into The Sims 3 every now and then. If you play The Sims and you like to cook or bake, I do recommend this cookbook.

"The Sims. Nieoficjalna książka kucharska" to obowiązkowa pozycja dla fanów gry The Sims, jak i również dla osób, które uwielbiają eksperymentować w kuchni i fundować swojemu podniebieniu wyjątkowe smaki! Polecam gorąco!

This isn’t a kitschy cookbook that was written to make money from die-hard Sims fan, but a legitimate cookbook that instills fun and makes fantasy a reality! I’ve been playing the Sims throughout most of my childhood and into my current mid 20’s. I otherwise would not consider myself much of a gamer, but there’s something about the Sims franchise that holds a special place in my heart. When I saw that this cookbook was on the market, I knew I had to get it.

It’s so fun to see many of the recipes my sims make come to life. While the ingredients used in the games and the graphics used to display them can be somewhat basic, these recipes are real and delicious dishes! I’ve made a few of them, and they’ve all turned out great. If you’re any amount of a Simmer who enjoys maxing out their Sim’s cooking skill, this should be on your wishlist.

As a lifelong Sims fan, I had to give this book a shot, and I'm glad I did! It was fun seeing the recipes my Sims have been making for decades come to life, and the little nods to the premade families and game mechanics was an adorable icing on the cake.

Other reviews mentioned the recipes being very Sims 4 heavy, and while that is accurate, I was expecting way fewer recipes from Sims 2 and Sims 3 than there actually were so that was a pleasant surprise. And honestly, you have to expect that Sims 4 would be featured more because it's the current game.

Also, the fact that the author is a Sims content creator herself really shows. There is love for and knowledge of the games put into each recipe. This is a passion project and I appreciate that.

Pretty much exactly what it says on the cover. A collection of recipes from the Sims Franchise, including some of the most iconic dishes of all time, such as Ambrosia, Grandma's Comfort Soup and, my personal favourite, Key Lime Pie. The recipes are all easy to follow and range in difficulty from absolute beginner to intermediate with a few recipes on the more experienced side. Recipes from The Sims 4-era predominate, but care was taken to include just a few recipes from The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 as well. Overall a great book for aficionados of the franchise, showcasing a great range of recipes from the various games.

➷ .•* Książka idealna dla każdego fana The Sims.

Bought it just for fun as a big sims franchise fan. I would have appreciated more TS2 and TS3 content while this book rather focuses on TS4. Call me nerd but for me TS1 TS2 and TS3 are the only « real » games - TS4 gets better but come on, it came out pretty empty.

The recipes are not very detailed - don’t expect to become a chef. I did not had big expectations, for me this book is rather a souvenir from my trip to London. I will cherish it and probably try some recipes - so definitely worth 3,5 stars for me.

Overall, this is a good cookbook, and the recipes look very tasty, and the instructions are straightforward. I'm excited to try some of them.

I feel like more pictures should've been included, as well as a few more tips and facts about The Sims. I also feel like it would've been cool to add the necessary cooking skill level for the recipes to tie it more to the game. This cookbook does lean more heavily on Sims 4 as opposed to the first 3 games. So, from a nostalgia standpoint, it would've been cool to see the other Sims games referenced more.

I was really happy about the cookbook but there's few stuff that disappointed me, like for example they didn't really take pictures of every recipe which is sad and this book may have sims 2 or 3 recipes but it was manly written for sims 4 players rather than the older ones.

Overall the author did a great job of capturing the most common recipes in the game. Hopefully there's more coming out like from different packs.

Love, Love, Love it!

I can’t wait to make the Hamburger cake, Love Potion #4, Strawberry Fizzy Cupcakes and so many more! I love the stories and game insights throughout the book. I think I’m going to order a hard copy for my daughter. We have been playing since 2008! Make another one with all the other recipes please!

I liked the idea of this book, but it was 80 % The Sims 4, which was a bummer, since I looove The Sims 2. I had hoped that the recepie ratio would have been a tad mor even between them. Sadly, most of the fact boxes are also from 4, and sadly, some of the facts that are from 2 are wrong. But apart from that I liked this book.

Although I absolutely love the Sims and especially I am a huge sims 2 fanatic, I really wanted there to be more sims 2 recipes as the game honestly has SOOO many amazing dishes. I’m surprised they didn’t use most of the ones in sims 2 because they’re actually very good! I hope they make one with sims 2 :)

I’ve been playing the Sims since the Sims 2 came out (I was 7) and I was so excited to see these recipes IRL.

Like many reviews said, it’s mainly geared towards those who play the Sims 4, despite naming some recipes from Sims 2 & 3.

However, I’m excited to put these to work in the near future!

A mix of some intriguing and more traditional recipes inspired by The Sims. A lot of these seem fun and tasty, however, a lot of the recipes included readymade ingredients such as pastry rather than instructing how to make from scratch. A fun and nostalgic read.
