Audiobook Review: This is a somewhat peculiar book. The book's blurb makes you think it will be about decluttering your mind and other buzzword topics. But in listening to the audiobook, it's more about choosing and following creative pursuits for your own enjoyment (and possibly to make a little cash or get recognition). Given that this is what the book is truly about, I didn't feel like it was organized well. Instead of first talking about any current creative pursuits you might have, the author spends quite a bit of time discussing finding new ones. You might not have to do that. Rather, you might just want to devote some time and energy to the creativity fields you already know you love. A portion of the book looks at different types of creative arts, like visual ones. A lot of the book, too, seems to be more about burnout than creativity. Throughout the book, the author mentions it a lot, usually in the context that creativity can help you avoid or get out of feeling burnt out. I had hoped for a different message and creativity tips, tricks, and techniques, but the book wasn't quite about that.
The narrator did a good job of getting the ideas across and speaking with enthusiasm.
I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.
I enjoyed this book as it breaks down the areas to take a look at where you may want to refuel in order to get in the creative zone. New ideas plus timeless classics like time management and self care will come into play to activate the creative genius within!
