After her sister is murdered, a female rookie detective goes rogue to get answers in this mystery thriller set by Lake Michigan.
Tara Sullivan has more to prove than the identity of her sister Cate’s killer. As Tara searches for the truth, she must also prove to her father she’s as worthy of his love as his favorite child, who has just been murdered. And once she meets the police’s top suspect, Drew Thompson, a veteran mourning for a friend lost in war and the last person to see Cate alive, Tara knows he’s innocent but must provide the evidence to clear him.
But when Tara crosses the path of twins with the same love interest—her—she finds herself navigating a complex minefield of emotions and secrets.
Dramatic and action-packed, Death Along the Shore is a thriller with emotionally damaged characters and plenty of twists and turns that will keep readers turning pages late into the night.
I like to pick up books by Wisconsin authors or set in the Wisconsin area. This book had both those elements so I was excited to read it. Unfortunately the writing was simple and felt clunky. Premise: A female detective’s sister is murdered and she is going to go rogue if she needs to, to solve the case. Along the way she meets her prime suspect who is ex-military. She immediately notices his awesome physique including his tight buns. Oh, pleeeease. I’ll be honest and say I figured out the culprit except for the little twist at the end.
Very enjoyable! I really liked the Lake Michigan and Door County boating references. And, although I suspected the twist, I couldn’t stop reading until I finished, it kept me on the edge of my seat. Feeling lucky we ran into Michael signing books at Novel Bay bookstore in Sturgeon Bay on a farmers market Saturday.
Totally impressed with this novel. Many times while reading, I felt like I was right along side of them on the boats. Great regional locations noted along with surprise twists throughout the entire book. Truly enjoyed the suspense along with way.
