This book was alright, not great but okay…I actually really liked Maggie’s storyline more than Natalie’s. Natalie was alright in the beginning but as the story progressed I liked her less and less…I get that learning her mom abandoned her was hard but she had always known she was adopted, just not the circumstances…while I like that it pushed her to open the shop, I still don’t really get why she also pushed away her loved ones…the ending was just kind of weird with Natalie asking Stephen to take her back and his just automatically saying yes (and all the stuff with Simon was pointless) and then Harriet coming back for almost no reason and then Maggie and Natalie meeting right at the end just felt unfinished…to top it off there felt like there was random time jumps in there was well for Natalie’s timeline…Maggie’s storyline kind of saved it for me…

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
I haven't read the first in this series but previous events are covered by references throughout the text of this book (actually more times than I felt necessary, it became a little repetitive) so I didn't feel I'd missed anything relevant.
This book is written as a dual timeline and I thought this was conveyed well, and the stories flowed. The feelings of each woman are realistic and well-written. The descriptions of the house at the centre of the story are interesting and atmospheric, and the romances are clean and tender. Despite all these good points I thought the end was too rushed and neat, and this caused me to drop my rating to 'average '.

I read Lost and Found for the dual timeline prompt, and while I struggled to stay engaged and connected to Natalie’s story, I enjoyed Maggie’s story. This also didn’t read as a romance novel to me and I think would be better classified as women’s fiction or general fiction. Some of the dialogue and plot felt like filler and plot devices, but otherwise it was a decent story. I’m not sure how Natalie felt around the revelations of her birth mother made sense to me and in general I had difficult staying connected to her story.

Make sure to check the trigger warnings.

This huge fan of Mary Stewart and Barbara Pym thinks that this is a delightful book but it's not related to the works of those two beloved writers.
That said it's well written, enjoyable and heartwarming. Liked it.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

An engaging, heart-warming story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The two parallel timelines are merged skilfully and left this very demanding reader very satisfied. Ros Rendle is an amazing storyteller and I can only recommend all her books.
