“When a Chaos mage fights, only blood and scorched earth remain.”
Mage War Chronicles Some victories are more costly than others, and Ina was the one that paid the price.
Determined to rescue her dragon, the newly appointed royal witch embarks on a gruelling journey through the wintery Grey Mountains. The weather is not her only obstacle, as the enemy forces gathered in the kobold mines have only one goal.
To capture the Chaos mage and deliver her to the heart of the mountain.
With the help of Sa’Ren, Ina arrives at Castle Liath almost unscathed, but her joy is short-lived, as its granite walls hide a shocking revelation.
With blossoming love shattered by a possessive dragon’s claim and an impossible mission to fulfil, will the mysterious Blessing of the Mountain help or hinder her efforts to protect Cornovii?
Immerse yourself in the second book of Season’s War, where passion mix with cruelty and the world-changing power is buried deep in the ancient tomb guarded by the stern Mountain God. The book is NOT standalone for the best experience, please consider reading in the series order.
Olena Nikitin is the pen name of a writing power couple who share a love of fantasy, paranormal romance, rich, vivid worlds and exciting storylines. In their books and out, they love down-to-earth humour, a visceral approach to life, striving to write realistic romances filled with the passion and steam people always dream of experiencing. Meet the two halves of this Truro UK-based dynamic duo!
Olga, a Polish woman, has a wicked sense of humour with a dash of Slavic pessimism. She’s been writing since she was a small child, but life led her to work as an emergency physician. While this work means she always has stories to share, it often means she’s too busy to actually write. She’s proud to be a crazy cat lady, and together with Mark, they have five cats.
Mark, a typical English gentleman, radiates charm, sophistication, and an undeniable sex appeal. At least, he’s reasonably certain that’s what convinced Olga to fly across the sea into his arms. He’s an incredibly intelligent man with a knack for fixing things, including Polish syntax in English writing. If you give him good whiskey, he might even regale you with his Gulf War story of how he got shot.
As with this first book, I wasn't into the third-person narration, the weird layout of chapters, and the author's writing style. This was better than the first book; it had a lot more depth and character development, which I really enjoyed. Slightly slow but not as bad as the first book.
Winter Dragon is the thrilling continuation of Autumn Chaos that exceeds all expectations. The addition of a dragoness, along with drama, jealousy, love triangles, and adventure, will leave you captivated. This book gave me an emotional rollercoaster ride, from Mar's frustrating obliviousness to my heartbreaking for Ren. The misunderstandings and tension were perfectly executed, and I couldn't put the book down.
We follow Ina's journey to find Mar, who has undergone a transformation and left abruptly. Ren accompanies her, providing comfort during their long and cold journey. As Mar is away, he begins to question if his feelings are genuine or a result of a spell. When they reunite, they must decide if they will remain true to their feelings for each other, or if they will be tempted by others. Ina's impending marriage to someone else adds more complexity to the plot.
After the intense battle at the palace grounds, Ina uses her Chaos Magic to turn Mar into a giant dragon, causing confusion among the heroes. Ina and Ren, her trusted friend, set out on a journey to find Mar through the wintery landscape. However, Ren struggles with his unrequited love for Ina, while knowing she is deeply in love with Mar. Meanwhile, Mar finds himself unwittingly married to a dragoness after performing a mating ritual, causing him to struggle with how to express his love for Ina.
While the love quadrangle is a central theme in Winter Dragon, which honestly I didn't care for, the book is about more than just romance. It explores themes of friendship, jealousy, and difficult decisions, set against a backdrop of epic battles, political intrigue, and fantastical landscapes.
This book is a must-read for all fantasy lovers, and reading it may make you want to ride a dragon, question people's motives, befriend forest gods, go on an adventure in the snow, make questionable love decisions, or seek comfort. However, please read responsibly.
Overall, Winter Dragon is an epic fantasy that explores complex themes and creates a vivid, fantastical world.

This is really the last book This year 2023! I wasn't on playing reading this book. But I was Itsing that I still need to read a book. I really enjoyed this book. And it had me sitting on the edge of the couche❤️ can't wait to start with my other books next year planning!
I didn't realize this was book 2 so now I have to read book 1. Ina is a strong witch who possesses chaos magic and some would love to steal it. She has a dragon who would do anything to protect her. This story has many twists and turns and that will keep you turning pages. I loved the characters and the plot was fantastic. I loved this and can't wait for more.
When you think a series can’t get any better, here comes Winter Dragon to prove you wrong! This is the continuation to Autumn Chaos and it does not disappoint! If you liked Autumn Chaos, than you’ll gobble up Winter Dragon. Add a dragoness, drama, jealousy, love square and adventure and you’ll be glued to this book.
The real life feels this gave me! I never wanted to strangle a character more than for Mar’s obliviousness. Stupid oversized lizard. The way my heart hurt for Ren. The misunderstandings just matched up perfectly. The tension! I’m still pushing my eyeballs back in my skull.
Spice level (1-5): 🌶️🌶️
After Mar’s transformation and abrupt departure, Ina feels responsible for what is happing to him. Determined to find him, Ren is determined not to let her go alone. With Mar away, Ina only has Ren for comfort and their journey is long and cold. Mar isn’t alone either. Now away from Ina, will he find out if his feelings are true or all an effect from the spell? Once they are reunited, can they both be true to their feelings for each other? Or will they sway towards another? And when another is after marrying Ina, will this tip the scales?
I’d recommend Winter Dragon to all fantasy lovers. If you don’t like spice, just skip those bits. It’s not super spice heavy, but the story is top notch and worth a read. I usually don’t care for FMCS but Ina has a special place in my heart. She’s more mature than the typical fantasy heroine, but she’s not perfect either. She balances the two beautifully and makes for a beloved FMC.
Warning: Reading Winter Dragon may make you want to ride a dragon like a pony. May make you wary when someone asks you to dance. May make you question people’s motives. May make you want to befriend the forest Gods. May make you want to go on an adventure in the snow. May make you make bad love decisions. May make you want some comfort. May make you want for someone else to be happy. Read responsibly.

🌟BOOK REVIEW 🌟 📖 Winter Dragon By @Olena RATING ~ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ SPICE ~🌶🌶 This book continues the storyline of autumn chaos as the second book in The series. It looks like I got my wish after all with more of Ina and Ren, I enjoyed how the book just continues to flow through the story as Ren and Ina set out on a quest in the winter to find Mar. While doing so they spend some much needed time together in my opinion it was overdue lovee it. We learn much more about ren and his backstory. Mar on the other hand is on a quest to find himself and get back to Ina. While doing so he meets a dragoness Anyi, who ends up wanting Mar all to herself in doing so tricks Mar into preforming a dragon mating ritual. This to say the least complicates things for Mar because he knows in his heart he only wants Ina. This book is about love, friendships, battles fights,Adventure, lust, working through the chaos life brings.
As with the first book I still very much enjoy the writing style and the pace of the book 😊 I also very much love the illustrations added throughout the book. I cannot waitttt to read the 3rd book Spring Blight coming out April 2023 😊 ⚠️ Please check trigger warnings ⚠️
I did receive a ebook copy to read and give an honest review thank you @Olena Nikitin #winterdragon
I love that Ina is finally letting some of her walls down and letting Mar in! I also just absolutely love Ina and Mars batter back and forth!! Ina is a strong FMC and I had a tendency to be in dangerous situations a lot 😆! And let’s just say a certain Dragoness, Ayni stirs up some drama for Mar and Ina. Ina also has to deal with emotions Ayni and Rens new relationship has stirred up. Hopefully we will see more of Boruta in the next book! 🥰
Mar is still as possessive of Ina if not more with his dragon riding him! I loved Mar opening up to Ina and explain how he was when he was alway from her with Ayni.
I loved seeing Ren’s relationship blossom Ayni! Hopefully we will see more of there relationship in the next book!
So far I am absolutely bloody loving this series!!! It’s has me hooked!!🥰 HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
First and foremost, this series goes in order and ends on cliffhangers! So, if you haven't read, "Autumn Chaos: Season's War Book One" do that first! Otherwise, there will be spoilers ahead and this review will be confusing.

". . .Ina's priority was finding her dragon." - Ina
What does one do when their lover shifts into a dragon and flies away? You grab your bestie and chase after the "overgrown lizard" with the intent of getting them back. With the intention of giving them an ear full once you find them but nevertheless you go after them!
Ina will find Mar no matter what, but the snowy weather presents a challenge along with others seeking her out. Her Chaos magic is no longer a secret as the "blessed" bards are singing her praises. . . Ina will be facing more than just getting her complicated lover back. She will be forced to make decisions and change her ways otherwise she may lose more than she already has. . .
"Men! Feed them, heal them, and hope they will be grateful enough to show their appreciation." - Ayni
I love this series so much, from book one and into this one! Also really love the authors' and their down to earth personalities and the humor that is within their books. It still very much reminds me of "The Witcher" the grittiness of it all, the mythical beasts, and so much more. A bit of "Game of Thrones" with all the intrigue, secrets, dragons, and hidden puppeteers.
I forgot how much I loved Ina as a whole until I started diving into this next installment! Ina is everything, period. End of review! She's the definition of an FMC who has no filter, will speak her mind, strong, and independent. She's extremely intelligent and smart, even the people who "know" her are still stunned by some of her antics.
Just I love everything about Ina, and I will not be wanting to let this series go when we are finally getting to the last book! The scenes between her and Mar when he's in his dragon form are just perfect. If I met a dragon in real life, I would do the exact same things she did! Ina's such a refreshing character and I could go on about her for years!
". . .I don't want to be hit by Perun's lightning on the top of the mountain because you fried his arrogant chicken." - Mar
The comedy in this book was great and I had so many moments where I was saying oh no! Knowing things/situations about characters before they did because we have to have drama. The new characters introduced in this book placed a couple of slight obstacles into the paths of the original cast. Things got even more complex, and relationships become even more strained. Enjoyed the multiple POVs in third person and getting to see things from different angles.
Ren is still one of my favorite characters and I fell for him even more within the pages of this book! Rewan is another of my favorites and I like the bisexual representation with him. The big twist with him from the last book and the continuation of his character development is incredible. I love how he plays simpleton until it's time for him to show everyone he had them in checkmate from the very beginning! But not being so high up that he doesn't ask for help when things get difficult.
This series is going to be a darker fantasy, this book was slightly more intense than book one. We have everything from sword fighting to mages who use blood magic to creatures eating their meals. The fight scenes were so fluid, and I was enthralled with them even if some were just training montage moments. There's violence in this read and some of the mind control magic may be disturbing to some. I found it fascinating and sad at the same time but thoroughly enjoyed how it was written. Language is present because Ina has no filter even around a king and I can relate to her!
The authors' spoil us with a map at the beginning of the book along with a closeup image of the dragon! I also loved the unique way they recapped book one and we are still getting little illustrations within the read. I was particularly happy with several of the illustrations they had chosen from the chapters. I am a visual person and so some of the Slavic mythological creatures I had to Google. Illustrations are very much a welcome thing!
We do get MF action in this book but it's a slow burn because things have gotten very tense! There's a love triangle and usually I don't go for them especially after finding "why choose" books, but there's a uniqueness to this one. If you've read book one you know of what I am talking about and how there are some factors as to why it's happening. And I mean even in real life sometimes we have to sort out our emotions and understand whether someone would be better as a friend or a potential lover.
There's a cliffhanger at the end but it's a nicer one. I still very much want to read the next installment and see where this is going to go. I love so many of the cast and just this writing style and adventure. I need more and I never want to say goodbye! I know the authors' may take away some of my favs and I will cry but I will understand.
Enjoy the read with old gods, mythical creatures, and a Chaos mage who's anti doors! I mean does one really need doors other than the ones leading to the outside? Don't forget to give the authors some stars!
It was such a joy to go back into this world! I love Ina and watching her growth not just personally or magically but within their relationship has been a wild ride! Literally! I loved reading such a strong female character in a world dominated by bull-headed men. She’s wild and chaotic but also beautifully stubborn and loyal! I can’t wait to see where the author takes her in the next book!
The story picks up where it left in book 1. The adventures of Ina, Ren and Mar are very good told. Also the things that are happening at the border mix very good in with their storylines. Love the intrigues, not only what is happening where they are, but also in the capital. Things of the previous book also continue in this one. Good read, and gonna wait for part 3 to come out!
After the mega battle in the palace grounds, when Ina unleashed her Chaos Magic, and somehow turned Mar into a giant Dragon, our heroes are in disarray. All Ina knows is that she has to find Mar, which means she’ll end up having to trek across a wintery landscape with Ren, her trusted friend. But Ren is still harbouring amorous feelings for Ina after she performed the forbidden spell to save his life, while he knows Ina is deeply in love with Mar, his commander and his friend. As for Mar, well. He’s flown to his ancestral home, hoping to find some answers for why his Dragon has sprung forth – but somehow, he inadvertently finds himself the subject of a Dragoness’s desires. After she tricks him into performing the Dragon Mating Ritual, he finds himself with an unwanted wife – and doesn’t know how to make Ina believe that it’s only her he loves.
Although the main theme of Winter Dragon appears to be a tangled love quadrangle. Ina, Mar, Ren and the beautiful Dragoness, Ayni. But, it is much more than that. It is about friendships, about dealing with jealousy, about making difficult decisions. There’s also epic battles and fights, political and courtly intrigue, kindness, and cruelty. It’s an epic fantasy, set against a backdrop of frozen mountains, misty forests and ice-cold lakes.
Within the complicated love quadrangle, there are times when I found myself wanting to scream at Ina. She stubbornly refuses to accept Mar’s explanations and tends to head towards angry outbursts and irrationally lashes out. As much as I understand that this is imperative to the plot, and needed to ensure the book is of length, I did find it infuriating. It made me Ina slightly less likeable; making her seem more like an angsty teenager rather than a mature woman. Ren was also less likeable than he was in Autumn Chaos. He pines after Ina in a way that becomes almost creepy, always being so close that he can hear her every word. Seeming to refuse to acknowledge where her heart lies, waiting for her to change her mind and reminding her that he’s always going to be there. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I found it slightly oily and wanted him to, just, back off. That said, these are tiny little criticisms, and much more my own personal preference.
Although at times, Nikitin’s writing seems almost as chaotic as Ina’s magic, there’s a charm to their style. Their wry humour is evident within their prose, bringing smiles more often than not. Occasionally, the conversations may seem stinted, but remembering that the characters are based in regal surroundings – often talking to kings and lords, then the formal speech makes much more sense.

I was lucky enough to receive Winter Dragon directly from Olena Nikitin in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I absolutely love this series. The story line is well written and keeps you hooked from word one. The characters are so real they feel like they are there with you. The sass and banter within the story is laugh out loud funny and adds a fantastic demention to the story. Read these books you won't be sorry you did!
Thank you for letting me read this ARC. WoW, it was an interesting ride with dragons and one stubborn witch in a vicious mood. I loved the sass and the deep end of Ina's magic, but it was a much darker book than I expected.
A great continuation of Ina's internal and external battles. The spitfires struggle with love, friendship, and herself kept me on my toes. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Full of magic, monsters, dragons, evil, twists around every corner, a dark dragon adventure with troubles along the way! Wonderful characters Ina coming into her powers and Mar coming into and learning his dragon powers, misunderstandings but Mar always knowing that Ina was his one and only love.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
‘You were born to bring the change’ Ina has been fighting on many fronts since she was young, so don’t expect any different from her now. On the contrary, the stakes have been raised! Battles within and without; struggles internal and external.
But if this is true ‘Revolutionary ideas required an iron will’, then Ina’s our gal!
“April showers bring May flowers” and also the next in this series - ‘Spring Blight’.
I wish that Ina’s character had more depth and showed more growth. She still seems flat and hard to relate to. I also feel that the author started out planning to write a reverse harem story, then pivoted and added a random new female to complicate things. I don’t know why the end of this book introduced a new character and a hint at a larger plot. I’m confused and not looking forward to the rest of the series nearly as much as I expected.
BOOK REVIEW was kindly given the opportunity to ARC I have loved this series so far there’s a bit of everything , paranormal, fantasy , spice , strong main characters. Great humour. Yes there’s a dragon , a witch or 2 , an orc what else could you want GREAT STORYLINE. Can’t wait for the 3rd book. Australian reviewer
Dragons and Chaos Magic. Ordered by the king to identify and solve the problems plaguing the western dukedom of Liath, Ina and Mar battle drow princes and enslaved kobolds, while fending off the advances of an overly amorous female dragon. Ina is still trying to control her Chaos magic. Great battle scene at end of story.
COVER = 5/5 PACE = 3/5 - kinda slow PLOT = 3.5/5 - it was OK, the dragon thing was cool, the romance needed something imo CHARACTERS = 4/5 - great character development WORLD BUILDING = 4/5 - i love this world! ROMANCE = 3.5 /5 - the romance needed something imo WRITING STYLE = 2/5 - unsure how i feel about it tbh
The adventure continues and once again I loved it. It has the same level of magic and mayhem, danger, adventure, surprises, a love triangle romance, and I'm still loving the snark. Ina is a character that's easy to cheer for. I thought there would be more steam in this one, but I didn't miss it because the story is so fantastic.
This is the second book and this author knows where this story is going it has your witches and dragons and it’s amazing what happens all the stuff that keeps you going it leaves you wanting more by this author as the storyline is amazing and very easy to read some pictures in the book as well makes things come to life in your mind
For me, this lacks depth in almost every aspect — especially the characters. The story feels like just a sequence of events without any real development.
This is book 2 in the seasons war series (I have read the first one, check out my review)
This book follows Ina accompanied by Ren on her search for Mar. They encounter lots of trouble along the way, new and stronger bonds are formed. Mar want to learn to control himself so he can get back to the love of his life Ina... but he need the help of a new acquaintance. And she is happy to have the company while she teaches him. How will Ina react to a new female when they reunite 🤔
This book is a little darker than the first with more themes of war, love and loss. I especially like that Ren was in this one more and really hope he finds love himself (I may have a soft spot for him).
I personally didn't enjoy this one as much as the first one as I felt one or two things were a little rushed. Having said that negative point, I still can't wait to finish the next book in the series (which I am currently reading) For me this book is a strong ⭐⭐⭐ (for me this is still a very good rating, I and it shouldn't put you off)
This series is overall a good read so far, the first three books are now available on kindle unlimited... And who doesn't like a book with dragons???? Nobody that's who!!! What are you waiting for, go and read them.
Integrity comes in all forms. Being true to yourself and having friends to help you stay on the right path and support you all while not telling you what you should do is everything. With friends like that you can overcome any obstacle you face.
