Dan is a shift Manager at Hauntings&Company, and every Friday he goes to Mumford’s with his best friends for beer, wings, and games. And every Friday he sees the beautifully sad woman walk in with a large group of other businesswomen. One day he strikes up the courage to go out and say hi to her. Before he knows it, he’s giving her a piggyback ride through town, fueled by her laughter and beaming smile. If only he knew that the broken-hearted woman was the heiress to a fashion empire business full of old money. Cassandra hasn’t had fun in a long time. Between managing the King’s Fall shop for her family’s fashion empire, a failed engagement to a trash man her parents set her up with, and an overwhelming pressure to be perfect, she swore off love and fun. But then a goofy, adorably cuddly Bugbear shows her that it is possible to order your cake and eat it too.
*Every book in the King's Fall Series is a Stand Alone, they all exist in the same world but can be read separately and out of publishing order*

Dan was such the adorkable cinnamon roll and goals for who you want to approach you at a bar. Cassie was sweet and relatable and grew her confidence and ability to stand up for herself as the book went on. Her relationship with her parents was complicated and she had some trauma from her prior relationship. Dan had already worked through a lot of his own shit with a supportive friend group, but did grow in his self esteem throughout the story.
Spice: 5/5
Triggers: nepotism, manipulative parent, mention of war, mention of deceased parents
Men written by women—great. But bugbears written by Lizzie Strong—just unmatched. God-tier. Chef's kiss.
The fact of the matter is, if I don't get devoured and marked by a bugbear in this lifetime I will be severely disappointed. Dan is perfect - goofy, charming, and worships Cassie. Cassie was relatable too. She just needed someone to see her for who she was as herself and Dan did that.
Look, the spicy scenes will have you rethinking your entire life, but the sweetness and coziness will have you sighing wistfully.
Anything by Lizzie Strong is more than worth the read. I warn you though once you read one, you'll want them all. Lizzie is a merciful goddess though and writes fairly quickly. Anyway, read it or else! 🤺
I swear Lizzie Strong can write nothing bad! This book was fantastic! Funny, cute and SPICY!! Dan is such a cinnamon roll with his race car bed I thought his and Cassie’s dynamic was chefs kiss
I really wanted to like this but it was just ok. Sure it was cute but it definitely lacked the charm and that lil somthin that How to Marry a Lich had. The author had such a distinct voice in that book but it was totally and completely lacking here. This wasn't funny or engaging, it was actually kinda boring for how short it is. It really just felt like a run of the mill romance and the MMC just happened to be a monster. I hadn't heard of a bugbear, how he was described in the book and my own mental image were MUCH more forgiving than Google is.
I'm not super sure if I would recommend this. I'm actually a little disappointed that I bought it. (Darn you Kindle 3x points) If it was on KU I'd say give it a shot but since it costs $$ I think I say skip it. Sorry 🤷♀️
This was such a cozy monster read!! Dan is the most adorkable himbo book boyfriend ever!! I just loved him. I really enjoyed the pacing of this book and the sweet relationship between Dan and Cassandra. So many feels!!! Definitely recommend 🥰🥰
This book is hilarious, cute, fun and spicy af! There was a scene I had to skip past (not my bag) but over all the entire story was compelling! I so badly want to see Dan’s wedding. 💒
Dan is so freaking adorable! I would kill to have a man like him! I loved this book! Only thing I didn’t like was the ending with her mother felt a little rushed but other than that it was so good!
Dear reader…wow. I keep getting sucked into Kings Fall and wanting to stay, so it always throws me off when the book I'm reading set there is over.
Cassandra is.…I don't even have words really to describe her properly, but I connected with her on wanting the freedom to just *create*…and wanting someone to share her life with. I connected with her about wanting children. <3
Dan. I love Dan to death, lol. Reading them together poked at one of my trauma points I had forgotten about while working on myself - wanting to be with someone who was really open about us being together, in a good way. Like with their close family and friends. This is no longer a trauma point for me, but I am super thankful to have had it pointed out. Thank you Lizzie, Cassie, and Dan. <3 I love the way Dan is about Cassie. He adores her so much. I look forward to reading more about them at some point. :) (Like a check in reference on how things are going, or even a sequel like with Kattos Waitress and Kattos Wife!)
If you're into bugbears, rough spicytimes, DnD type settings modernized because urban fantasy ftw….or even if you enjoy Kings Fall like I do…I strongly suggest this book. Much love Lizzie! <3
The Bugbears Heiress is a cute paranormal romance. Dan was the best character. He was full-on protective without resorting to violence. He was confident and sweet even though he had faced more than his fair share of rejection. He and Cassandra fit together beautifully. She was growing as a character but her ability to stand up for herself was really hit or miss. At least she'd found someone to build a loving relationship together.
This story hit a lot of the same notes over and over. Rich people were snobby and mean. There was lots of family drama and a smarmy ex. Once Dan and Cassandra got together it felt like half the scenes were in the bedroom. But Dan was really charming and the book gets extra points for incorporating a main character that's an unusual paranormal species, not just the traditionally hot vampire or werewolf.
This is a super sweet, high-spice, low-stakes monster novella set in the King’s Fall Universe. It piggybacks off Hauntings & Co, as the MMC is the manager from that book, but it stands alone with minimal spoilers.
The MMC is a cinnamon roll bugbear, and the FMC is a human high society heiress. They meet at Mumford’s, the bar featured prominently in The Kattos Waitress. Their story is a mostly carefree, adorable romance with plenty of spice. (Be sure to check the trigger warnings if needed, this is a non-human MMC, after all.) There’s some light conflict involving the FMC’s family dynamics and an ex, but nothing major.
This is a quick, fun, fluffy, and spicy read!
Spice: 5/5 Plot: 3.5/5 Writing: 3.5/5 My Enjoyment: 4/5
I adore this. I adore Dan. I didn’t want to put this down. This is very fluffy. Plus sized representation. 🖤🥹 Female character is a delight. I’m in love with Lizzie’s writing. The only thing was the ending felt rushed. But eh. 🖤🫶🏻
While this story has some smut, it also has a cute and funny storyline. A human and bugbear meet and begin a spontaneous relationship, full of hiking, watching the stars, and falling in love!
This book was a cute book. It was great to see Cassie being loved for being her and not because of her money. Dan is so sweet and I would love to date him too.
