Just when Chloe thinks she’s got a handle on being a single mom, she finds out that her son is a penguin shifter. Now it’s his first day at a day care for shifters, and Chloe is faced with a change of schedule…and a change of heart.
Is Chloe ready for her son’s first day at a day care for shifters? And is she ready to lose her heart to this great guy who keeps coming to her rescue?
A short, sweet, shifter romance romp, continue this story from First Shift with adorable baby shifter antics and a beautiful blooming relationship in the world of Instinct from A Day Care for Shifters series.
Elva Birch is an author of the impossible and irresistible. She is a fire dragon Gemini living in Alaska who belly dances outside at twenty below in the winter and loves to find tiny fairy moss worlds in the summer with her camera.
Elva also writes SHIFTING SANDS RESORT, GREEN VALLEY SHIFTERS, and FAE SHIFTER KNIGHTS as Zoe Chant.
Okay. So this is supposedly a three parter, but the author references in the second book's author's note that she didn't plan on writing more than this first one. So these make perfect sense in sequence, but zero sense alone.
There's really no solid HEA resolution, it's mostly an implied bargain. The first and the second one are pretty cute, cute characters, cute jokes, cute circumstance, just cute. It's just that the length does not make sense for a romance, it is not really a short story, but also not a novella. It feels like a few chapters lobbed together and called book one, then four more chapters lobbed together and called book two. I just feel like this is a HUGE disservice to the story. Honestly it feels very episodic, netflix-style writing.
I am not a fan. I'm taking two stars and running away because it distresses my brain so much. Do not recommend this, but I really want to like the cuteness, but cuteness cannot win the whole day.
I wish this was longer, but little Ryan is the cutest active little boy who can turn into a penguin (previous book caused his mom Chloe to cancel a “not a date” get together with Clay from a dating app). Clay, who is a polar bear shifter, had helped her out in the previous book understand about shifters. This time he steps in to help Chloe again by watching Ryan as she has to work the early shift at the bakery before she can take him to his new daycare. More chaos and cuteness ensues! Looking forward to reading about Clay and Chloe’s “First Date” in the next installment!
This is a short story, and it's part of a planned trilogy. The first one felt self contained. There was a problem (unexpected penguin) and it ended with a kiss. This one felt more slice of life. There is no central conflict, so there can't be a resolution.
There is humor, an adorable baby penguin shifter, and a handsome & helpful love interest. I recommend reading the first story for maximum enjoyment of this one. There is no cliffhanger, so you don't have to wait for the last episode before reading this one.
Chloe has signed Ryan to a new day care, but needs a babysitter until it opens. Clay to the rescue after all he help raise his brothers and sister after his parents died. What trouble could a little shifter get into.
Read what antics they get into. I kept laughing. Highly recommended by this reader.
This is such a good little book! There are days when I just need to read something that will make me feel good, and this is one of those books. It's a cute story with some laughs and warmth and the beginning of a romance. Add a baby penguin and it's about perfect! Enjoy! 🐧✋🐺
A short, sweet read. Clay and Chloe are taking things slow. The chemistry is definitely there, but Chloe's first concern is her newly shifting son. Luckily Clay can help with that. I can't wait to see what comes next. I received an advanced copy and this is my honest review.
What an awesome read that gives us a look into the life of the characters of this amazing author. It was short but sweet, showing us what their lives are like. I was gifted an ARC for an honest review
I was hoping for more. I found a lot of it very funny. Picturing the penguin sliding around the house and the tapping in the tub wanting more water time. I love tiny paws. The first date should be crazy!
Love these shorts centered around Ryan and the ones centered around Tiny Paws. I hope to see more of them in the near future. And maybe some with the kids as they grow. Love all those little ones so much. <3
Chloe works the early shift, so Clay offers to babysit Ryan until the shifter daycare opens. At work Chloe gets permission to work the shift that matches the daycare's hours.
Loved the characters and the storyline and couldn't put it down and can't wait to read more in this series so it's a well deserved five stars and I would recommend this book to everyone
This has me cackling when Ryan went bobsledding through the house as a greased penguin and clay trying to keep up with him. These super short novellas are so adorable and fun and Ryan is such a funny little guy~
Chloe was nervous about Ryan first time at Tiny Paws. Clay had volunteered his sister to babysit cause Chloe hours were changed. Clay shows up instead.
Super fun short read. Loving this little series, Chloe is such a good dedicated mum and she is coping well with the unexpected turn her life has taken.
It was so great to continue reading about the adventures of Clay, Chloe, and little Ryan in this second super adorable novella. I can't wait to read the next installment.
