The one time I am sent on a mission to an alien planet I’m assigned the grumpiest alien in existence as my personal bodyguard.
Agon is a scarred, grizzled Dragan warrior who can’t seem to leave me alone. I’m the ship’s botanist, and the alien makes it very clear that he considers my job a hobby gone wild. Every single day without fail the warrior stops by my wild, overgrown garden to let me know just that.
He gets under my skin like no one else. It doesn’t help that he’s also wildly attractive and that my heart flutters every time the giant alien strides past my garden and scowls.
When we finally get into a huge fight, the ship’s captain has had more than enough of our endless bickering. His solution is simple.
It just so happens that our ship has to make some emergency repairs, and we’re hovering above a lush and uncharted alien planet.
We are to travel to said alien planet.
Together.
Just me and Agon, and a wild and dangerous planet for us to discover.
There’s absolutely no way that this is going to work… right?
AGON is book 5 in the Astral Mates series, but it can be read as a standalone. No cheating, HEA guaranteed!
Written in third person by LUNA HUNTER, Agon is the 5th book in the ASTRAL MATES series and follows the Dragan warrior Agon and his human mate Teagan Whitlock.
Honestly, this series is painful to read, but I'm apparently a glutton for punishment. The author is an amateur, and it shows. Not just in the many grammatical errors, but in the overall character building and story development.
The book is short, so at least a lot of valuable time isn't wasted. I've always been a firm believer that a romance novel needs to have intercourse before the 47% mark. Anything after that is dangling the cheese for so long that it molds and is no longer edible. No one reads a romance novel for the adventure. Sure, some may "claim" that to be the case. But those people are liars. We read them for the raunch. Plain and simple.
You can tell when the author is inexperienced in the subject they're writing about. It's like writing an essay about volcanoes. But you don't actually know a damn thing about volcanoes. So instead of doing any actual research, you write about "hiking" because you've hiked Mt. Shasta and Mt. Shasta is a volcano. I get that same vibe in these books. I mean, the effort is there, sort of. But it's just... lacking. Lacking character development. Lacking relationship building. Lacking unique visual layouts. Just LACKING.
So help me, if I have to read about the Dragan's "potent seed" one more time, I might just lose my mind. This book only referred to the Dragan's cum as "seed" three times, opposed to the nine of the last book. But two of those three times specified the seed as "potent." Who tf wrote this? A 14 year old boy?! And if it's so potent, why did it take Tyr 9 months to knock his human up? Oh, that's another thing... No alien uses the human phrase "knock you up." Please, just stop.
I will admit that the moment with the couple in the waters of the caves was noteworthy. I am a sucker for older men, so Agon's character hit a personal soft spot for me. I just ignored the terrible writing and filled in the blanks with my own wordless imagination to make it tolerable.
And what is it with the usage of "baby" as a pet name by every single female in this series? Not everyone calls their s/o "baby." This endearment needed to go in book 2, yet here we are, still reading it. Here is an actual quote from the book: “Breed me, baby!” I shit you not. Chapter 17, in the "breading chambers." I could not stop laughing. So corny and cheesy and just... Yeah.
Anyway... this whole book made me laugh. Mostly at the author's expense. I wouldn't recommend this series, though I'm probably going to read the rest. Like I said... a glutton for punishment.
Teagan is a botanist that produces the herbs n spices aboard the ship. She has few friends because of an incident with an ex before the humans boarded their spaceship. Now she prefers her plants, at least they can't hurt her feelings or her heart. Now if only she didn't have conflicting emotions about a certain Dagan commander, things would go so much smoother. But he's so arrogant, bossy, stubborn n downright aggravating. Agon patrols the area surrounding the lab. He sees no reason why it's necessary to have an area alloted to the human for plants. The General allows these weak humans too many privileges. But deep down he secretly admires Teagan, even though she constantly angers him. When he told her that the General requested to speak to her, she balks, so he throws her over his shoulder, spanks her n proceeds to the General. General sends them to the nearest planet to catalogue the flora as punishment while the ship undergoes repair. Teagan finds an interesting flower after ditching Agon which has freaky properties. But the planets definitely habited contrary to their previous probe.
This book was amazing and I loved how to main characters antics and banter kept the story flowing. Teagan is a human and a botanist living amongst the aliens on a spaceship but one Dagon warrior Agon drives her crazy he is sexy, stubborn, bossy, grumpy and rude but why does my heart skip a beat every time he is near. Agon is a Dagon warrior and his very little time for the humans and believes the General gives them to many privileges and the female that plays with plant’s drives him crazy and when we have a huge argument the General wants to speck to them both when he tells her that the General wants to talk to her she balks and so he throws her over his shoulder and spanks her and as it turns it turns both of them on but neither say anything. Now they are being sent to a nearby planet to check out the flora and fauna is Teagan job and Agon must protect her that’s his job and the closer they get the harder it is to fight the attraction between them. How does it all turn out with danger all around them can they work out there feelings for each other and have a future together or not. Brilliant book
AGON is an older well respected Dragan warrior. He is part of the powerful group that lives on the Dragan warship. They are far out in deep space trying to find home. Teagan is a human intergrated into the incredible collection of Alien and human lives inhabiting the war vessel,Ravenous. Teagan is an intelligent successful botanist yet Agon always seems to be belittling her efforts. Even though she gives as good as she gets, his manner chafes. He is such a stern and grumpy and rude blue man. Their continued bickering and arguing is punished by the Dragan General sending them, together, to scope out a new planet. Sexy and interesting story of ignored or denied feelings.
These two characters live to aggravate eachother. She is focused on her botanicals, while he calls her life-work nothing more than a hobby! She loves to vent about him, he lives to bug her as much as possible.at the first opportunity, the commander sends them down to a new, green planet for samples and exploration, but it turns out not everything is as it appears. I loved this part of the series, but went with 4 stars because it really, really, really needed a proofread, but the story was classic rom-com all the way!
I thought this book to be extremely sweet with a lot of steam! I love the enemies to lovers trope because there is so much room for snarkiness. Teagan was so snarky and it just served to keep Agon on edge and fighting his attraction. The scene with the flower was epic! I loved it.
This story would have received another star if it wasn't for all the typos. Someone really needs to go back through this book and correct all the errors. I.e. life for live, changes for chances, al for all, he for the, and the list goes on.
The story was ridiculous. There was no plot. They misspelled names, used the wrong words and the grammar sounded like an elementary school kid wrote it. At the very least hire an editor.
Agon and Teagon, constant arguments caused them to be sent to a planet where she could do her work and he would be her bodyguard. The two of them had quite adventure.
Way too short! It is the old enemies to lovers although started by a flower on a holy planet. The captain sent two warring people down to what appeared to be an unoccupied planet.
Decent story but oh my goodness does it need to be edited. Spelling errors and wrong use of words. Example: nows instead of knows. I almost stopped reading it was so bad at some points.
I liked this couple even though he's a much older male. I didn't really buy her baggage but it didn't really matter. The story was fun, sexy & not even a little bit violent. Enjoyable.
Agon and Teagan cannot stand one another and bicker constantly. So much so that they get sent on a mission to a jungle planet. It's a paradise or is it? Enjoy
I'll have to go back for the previous books after reading this one. The story was very good, the only problem I found was that it was too short.. But that's ok, I still enjoyed it very much.
