It Falls Apart - The Complete Series by Mike Kraus and Barry Napier
I very much enjoyed reading this series. As more people were brought into the story, I couldn’t help but get attached to each and everyone of them. Albeit, the hideous acts of terrorism set in motion in New York were horrible, the story reveals the driven people who step up to make a difference in helping others and overcoming such acts of terrorism.
This series is unequivocally the absolute best I have read in quite some time! If I could give it 10 stars I would!
The story was so well written and was almost eerily plausible! It evoked thoughts and questions that went beyond those regarding the plot itself because it felt like the whole thing was based in what could truly be our reality in this country. The drama wasn't "over written" as it so often is in stories like this. The characters all seemed so realistic and relatable. While it was a work of fiction... I think anyone having lived through Covid and the state of our country with all of the political conflict and racial tension etc these past few years would have no problem agreeing this it doesn't "feel" like it's necessarily fiction. It kept me on the edge of my seat not wanting to put it down and thinking "holy crap! This is spooky! It's like it could seriously happen just like this!" Kraus definitely keeps his finger on the pulse of current events when he creates these works of fiction. It's no wonder he's such an incredible author! This is the first work by Barry Napier I've read but it certainly won't be the last!! Thank you so much for another great read!!!
OK, great book, engaging, well written, believable and relatable characters with good depth. Great storyline and well paced. Any post-poc nutnwill truly enjoy. Only negatives a can list, not a bedtime read, why I bought it, too engaging, didn't put me to sleep but stayed up all hours reading. Could have been more technical and tactical, if you know what I mean.
For $.99, forget it. I'm immediately buying more of their stuff, like right now, but felt I need to say thank you to the authors for several weeks of enjoyment for virtually no cost, so thanks!
Stop looking for your next book and just start reading this one. This book was exciting, inviting, intriguing, and one of the best books I've ever read and now that I think about it, I've said this a few times about any book written by Mike Kraus... They just keep getting better and better. The only complaint I have about this story is that it has now ended. If you're new to apocalyptic thrillers this is the one to read if you're not and you already enjoyed this genre then I highly recommend reading your new favorite book.
Too many mistakes not only with the sentences/wording but in mixing up characters and events. Conflicting backgrounds of characters, e.g. Marco told his grandfather played with him and then that he died before he was born. Bathroom needs for plot but ignored otherwise. (People don't go days without needing a bathroom). And covid taught us that no way would the country bounce back like the ending of this series
At the start, I was impressed but this apocalyptic tale because it seemed to avoid the misogyny, torture, and endless lists of weapons most have. Except for 1 book, this mostly proved true. But boy this epic could have been cut in half. Instead of much plot movement, it had endless lists of dead bodies, virus suffering, and traffic jams. To turn the axiom around: less is always better. Also, some decent proofreading is in order.
Loved following this group get through a virus and bombings. Going from separate groups and people to become a family group helping each other and brought together by a little girl. So many ups and downs so many emotions throughout these books and it draws you in because in real life this could happen and ii would hope to find people as special as these lot to get me through it all
Post-apocalyptic survivor thriller with predictable plot
The six book series all consolidated in this edition, is a decent posts apocalyptic survival thriller. The plot is predictable when it started with few twists toward the end which made it interesting read. The good part is except couple of places you don't get to see the human behaviour deterioration, perhaps there weren't many left.
Would recommend to any scifi or action fan. I think was well written and it flowed well. Characters were described in detail so you felt you knew them. I got so immersed that I was sad it was over. Lastly the storyline was not farfetched, it involved today's technologies and people's motivations.
I really loved these books...never a dull moment. I had a hard time putting it down long enough to do daily stuff! So many books of this genre are overly violent and I appreciated that in these books bad things happen but you didn't have to know every gory detail. Best series I have read in the last year!
It is a page turner with our heroes struggling to stop the destruction of this terror group
It is a non-stop action story as the people in our group face nukes and a deadly airborne virus that shows no boundaries; the terrorists don't care who it strikes will kill you in less than 30 minutes
This was a good series for some light reading. Serious subject matter that should make you think hard about Loving your neighbor and doing what is right all the time, but also about what direction the world is taking. Still, I enjoyed it as a novel series and connected with the characters easily.
The authors show us the best and worst of humanity in the character's words and actions, in some horrific situations. I'm addicted to Mike Kraus and his co-authors epic survival stories. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the occasional spelling error. I humbly offer my proofreading skills to catch them ;-) because I'd get to read them all.
If you love his books as much as I do', you definitely will like this series. I loved it and all the characters ( especially Paul,Kathryn, and Marco). This is also a series to keep you reading to the wee hours of the night. Last it tells us some truths we all need to think about in our country.
This was an amazing and thought provoking journey from start to finish. The characters were well thought out and what was best... I liked them and I wanted them to be OK. It is horrific to think how utterly fragile we really are, despite our combined experience and modern technology. There is always evil amongst us.
even with a cast of dozens it felt that everyone can play their part in saving the world. it was a long road with Partnerships being formed along the way. the tension was well executed and lasted through all the books. Glad I picked this series.
I enjoyed the storyline and the character development. But there were a lot of editing issues and I don’t mean just typos. Character names were swapped for each other with a random “Rachel” thrown in for good measure here and there. There were also problems with sentence structure and overall readability.
This was a brilliant series. I was hooked right from the first book to the very last. The storyline was exciting and different and kept you reading late into the night. Loved all the characters and they all came together in a thrilling conclusion.
I usuAlly read zombie books but I think mark tufo said this was a great read I was addicted to it from page one the twists and turns are great Paul was my favourite Joyce and Olivia a close second many thanks for a truly good read
A very possible kind of Post-Apocalyptic Thriller with the kind of crazies we have running around the world. Truly a very well written plot with just the right amount of twists to keep the pages turning, your heart pounding and the excitement flowing.
This has to be one of the best apocalyptic series I have ever read. It was fast paced, exciting and held my attention clear to the end. I finished the whole series reading until 2 am or later three nights in a row!
I read the whole series and every book was amazing. Kept you on the edge of your seat. Great characters, believable storylines, and fluid continuity kept me reading late into the night! Definitely recommend
This was a very good series, and not one "F" word! See, not everyone wants to read or hear those types of words read; they actually distract from the stories for me. The terrorists end to the world was really intriging. So was the ending. I highly recommend this series!
Loved this series, never a dull moment , quick read and great storyline. There were a couple of mistakes but they were so minute it didn't mattef. Was sorry it ended.
Great character development. Brought all the story lines together in a way that did not feel forced or contrived. I usually get tired on a long series but this one kept me going
I found myself immersed in the characters in this story ,and feeling their pain . It is one of those books that make you laugh and cry. Great read ! Keep them coming Barry n Mike !
If you've read one book like this you've read them all. Same story line. Just read first book and skip to last part of last book. Save yourself time. Now I know why I paid 99 cents.
I had to suspend my normal sense of what's believable or not a bit - but otherwise I really enjoyed this yarn. The characters were engaging, the storyline didn't flag too much, and it all came together in the end lol.
In this series the characters and sittings were off the charts! Every little thing was covered completely! It was a great description of the final battle. The only thing that I thought was missing was a more thorough description of the virus getting over seas.
I enjoyed this set of books a lot more than I thought I would! I thought when I started to read it them ah just another doomsday series! But I was very pleasantly surprised! I loved the different take on things. Well done for my few hrs of entertainment!
