Ryder is the sweetest guy, so gentle with Alaina and patient with Everett, making me want to just eat him up like one of his baked goods! His had such a crappy childhood, with his parents letting him down again and again in so many ways, but thankfully he found the family he needed in his grandparent and his HOT team in order to be able to offer himself to Alaina and Everett and show them the love they needed. His strength and ability to protect them was never a question in my mind for sure, but I loved seeing him as he built the trust and bond with Alain and her boy. Alaina was a great heroine, beaten down by her past, but never broken by it. She is the kind of woman that is a lesson to all of us that we never given up and we never allow others to dictate how our futures should go. I enjoyed getting to see her spread her wings, carefully, under the protection of the HOT team and with the help of their ladies. The passion between them was a slow simmer from the beginning, but when they admitted their feeling it burst into conflagration and no doubt left a hole in the ozone from the heat. Despite my guessing the villain pretty quickly (sorry Lynn, you’re just too good at leading me to the creepiness) I enjoyed the twists and turns in the plot until the great unveil. I am dying for the next story (Shade’s perhaps?) and of course seeing all my favorite HOT team members again soon along with their families. Filled with passion, trauma, and the love that reminds us all that we never give up, HOT Limit will make you reach for your loved ones and reach for a future you’ve always thought was out of reach.

Does it surprise me that Lynn wrote another absolute banger? Not at all.

This book was so freaking good (as usual) and had everything you could want. Single parent, protective man, damsel in distress (but not helpless!) and sweet, caring, romantic moments. Literally everything you could want!

Ryder is perfect. I know I say that about all the HOT men, but I’ll stop when it ceases to be true 🤷🏻‍♀️. Ryder knows what he wants, is confident, makes Alaina feel good, reassures her and understands what she’s thinking and feeling.

Alaina is a strong independent woman who is just trying to give her son the best life possible. She didn’t have the best upbringing or the best luck in life, but she doesn’t let that stop her.

This book is filled with the best romance, action scenes and literally everything else you could want in a book.

Some little HOT updates (possible spoilers ahead!)

Wolf and Haylee have officially had their baby girl, Presley. Brooke and Cade are having a baby! Mal and Scarlett are going strong and so are Jenna and Noah.

The next HOT book is about Zany, and based off that brief sneak peak, it’s gonna be a good one!

Ryder and Alaina are just meant for each other. Neither of them are wanting a relationship, but the heart will not be denied. They both are haunted by tragic pasts. Alaina as a single mother to a precious little boy who is doing her absolute best to put 1 foot in front of the other to keep moving forward. Ryder jumps in the lake to save her when he knows nothing about her. Ryder wants to figure out who attacked Alaina. She has no idea who it would be, but it doesn’t feel random. Can Ryder protect her?

I've loved Lynn Raye Harris's writing since I read her Harlequin books a few years ago. Then when I discovered the H.O.T. series including the SEALS and Strike Teams 1 and 2, let's just say I'm firmly entrenched in hot guy heaven, lol.

Hot Limit is the story of Ryder "Muffin" Hanson and Alaina Montgomery along with her six-year-old son, Everett. At the story's beginning, Ryder has just returned from a mission and is on leave. Also, he just bought a house in the country and one of the great features is the lake and dock that is a part of the property. It's an idyllic scene until Ryder looks out of his kitchen window and sees a woman floating face down in the water. He pulls her out of the water, finding her severely beaten, and goes into action, knowing he doesn't have long to save her life.

Alaina is from South Carolina and hasn't had an easy time, thanks to her son's deadbeat father who made her his side chick without letting her know. Then when she got pregnant, he kicked her and the baby to the curb so he could marry a woman who had the background he believed would get him a leg up in life. So, after a while, Alaina leaves and moves to Mystic Cove, Maryland where she and Everett live in a little dilapidated RV. She tries to make ends meet by being a cleaner for private homes and at a domestic violent shelter where she also volunteers as a counselor. In her experience, men are the worst except for her little boy, an outlook made worse by a sheriff's deputy who keeps hitting on her while dating Bridgit, the center's therapist.

Both Ryder and Alaina are drawn to each other and at first glance, you might think it is because of the dramatic situation linking them together, but it soon becomes clear, they have a powerful connection. With his protective instincts in full force, Ryder moves her into the mother-in-law's cottage on his property until her attack was found although it wasn't an easy sell because Alaina is all about providing for her son all on her own. But she realized that she can't put Everett at risk, taking Ryder up on his author. Their connection strengthens and it isn't long before they are heavily involved.

Ms. Harris wrote a phenomenal book! It has everything I love about romantic suspense or military novels. The suspense factor was off the chart. Usually, I have an idea who the bad guy is early on but I was stumped as to who had assaulted Alaina and threw her body in the lake. Also, the passion between Ryder and Alaina was super hot, pun intended, lol, and the way Ryder treated her was beautiful. Finally, my favorite aspect was watching a big bad Army SF guy bond with little Everett.

Hot Limit is extremely well-written and it is my favorite book of the series so far. I can't wait to read more of this author's work. This book is a 5+ star for me. Congratulations, Ms. Harris, on another fantastic read!

Ryder, part of the HOT team, just purchased a house on a lake with a great view. He's enjoying the view when he realizes there's a person floating. He runs out and jumps in to save this person. He brings her inside and puts her in the bathtub to warm her up. As she starts to warm up, he realizes he needs to take her to the hospital where he stays with her until she's feeling better.

Alaina first wakes up in some random stranger's bathtub and screams! He says he's going to help her but then he drugs her. The next thing she knows, she's waking up in a hospital bed and this stranger is with her. Maybe he isn't too bad.

Alaina realizes that she's been beaten and thrown into the water left to die. She's lucky that Ryder saw her and rescued her. Now she's not sure, who's trying to kill her. Was it a random attack or did someone go after her specifically? While she's recovering, Ryder suggests that she live with him since she doesn't feel safe going back to her rented, dilapidated RV.

Ryder has a cottage on his property and let's Alaina and her son Everett stay there but they always come into his house to eat or watch TV. Slowly this hero has become a close friend to Alaina and it's starting to develop into so much more. In the meantime, the police officer investigating her attack keeps hitting on her, even though he's dating her co-worker/friend Bridget. She doesn't feel comfortable around him but she can't say anything since the last girl who complained, disappeared.

Ryder has to go on a mission and he wants Alaina and Everett to stay with one of his buddy's wife. Alaina lets her know wherever she is at all times, until she returns to Ryder's house and she never checks in. Luckily Ryder's on his way home when he gets the news. Will he be able to find her in time? Will they catch the person who did this to her? Is it the same person who attacked her before and if so, why?

I love Lynn Raye Harris and the HOT teams. This book does not disappoint!

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Ryder, owner of the cutest military nickname ever (aka Muffins) has to jump into the local lake when he sees a body floating by. Thankfully she was still alive and Ryder manages to reviver her enough to get her to hospital.

Alaina, can't remember who she got into the lake. The doctors tell her she was pretty much beaton, strangled and clonked on the head. Someone really took a dislike to her it seems. She leads a blameless life, just working at the local Domestic Violence shelter and bringing up her young son, Everett.

Ryder falls hard and fast for Alaina, his protective streak in overdrive over her and Everett. He's bowled over by how she lives her life for her son, her compassion for others and even her stubborn independent streak at not wanting to accept charity. Alaina may be down on her luck but she has a burning need to not be a pity case. She wants to pay her way fairly. She and Ryder have a few clashes over his need to help and protect and her not wanting to be beholden to him. Once their chemistry kicks in, it makes her even more determined not to have him think she's after whatever she can get from him.

As usual the HOT team circle the wagons around their own and absorb Alaina and Everett into their little family. Did I guess who the bog bad was? Yes but I was never 100% completely sure - those little twists kept me guessing. Everett is a complete charmer and pretty much stole the show!

I loved Ryder and Alaina’s love story in Hot Limit by Lynn Raye Harris, book seven in her Hostile Operations Team: Strike Team Two series. Waking up in his new water front home Ryder finds a body floating in the lake outside. Fortunately the body is still alive and his training kicks in. Without thinking about it Ryder ‘Muffin’ Hanson dives in to rescues the unconscious woman; bringing her back into his house to warm her up. Once warm, Ryder takes her to the hospital for further treatment; but he can’t leave her. The victim, Alaina Montgomery, is a single mom with a precocious six year old son, Everett, is doing the best she can and is somehow making it work; just barely. Already in protector form, while he is at the hospital, Ryder learns that she lives in a rundown RV, and offers Alaina and Everett a little cottage behind his house to rent, while she heals from her ordeal and gets back on her feet. This way, he can keep an eye on her. As the romance begins, first a touch and then a kiss, someone is waiting in the shadows for the opportunity to strike again. As the romance, suspense, and danger build, the HOT team rallies to save Alaina and help Ryder get his girl back; adding Alaina and Everett to their family. Everett is so adorable and adds so much to this story; basically stealing the show. I highly recommend Hot Limit to other readers.

Ryder had no idea that his new lakeside home would come with a side of saving a life.

Single mom Alaina had been beaten, choked, and dumped into the lake but despite all that misfortune, she's lucky that Ryder spotted her floating and pulled her out. His feelings of responsibility toward her grow and soon he can't see himself living without her or her son.

He gives Alaina a safe place to live, security, a positive male influence for her son, friends that are more like family, and love. Things she never hoped for but desired more than anything. She wanted to give her son a life she never had, and that's exactly what Ryder give her the opportunity to do.

But danger still lurks, making them both nervous. Alaina doesn't remember anything about her attack, so the suspect could be anyone. Including someone you'd least expect. When she goes missing, the HOT team does what it does best . . . rallies. Even still, it takes them way too long to find her and she uses the skills she learned from Ryder to save herself. But will it be enough.

This is a sweet and spicy love story with just the right amount of suspense to keep you turning the pages. While I have to admit I guess the culprit early on, it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. And the enticing teaser at the end for the next book is intriguing.

I’ve been a fan of Lynn Raye Harris’s HOT series books since 2013. I followed the series avidly (possibly rabidly??) until I fell into the world of book blogs and reviewers. She cemented herself early on in my discovery of ebooks as a romantic suspense author, one of who I really enjoyed her writing style and voice. So when I started wondering what I had missed, I promptly hit her backlist to catch up. IMHO, you could pick any of her books and not be disappointed. She’s at the top of my favorite romantic suspense authors list for a reason and has been for many years now. Catching up on her backlist took maybe a week (I totally binged all the books I’d missed), and since then, I’ve kept up with her new releases. Thank goodness for newsletters and reader groups!

Lynn Raye Harris consistently delivers characters with depth, bravery, loyalty, and heart, which holds true with HOT Limit. Ryder and Alaina’s story is full of sweet and swoony moments, mystery and suspense, and, of course, some sexy times. Add in a very well-behaved and polite little guy, and it was a book I didn’t want to put down. Even though I was able to figure out who the villain was before it was revealed, I still enjoyed the story immensely. As always, I look forward to what she brings us next.

I love that you can dive in and out of this series and you're never lost. Each story is a standalone with a different couple that I love seeing other couples HEA. This story starts with Ryder finding a body floating in the lake outside his new home. Luckily the body is still alive and his training kicks in. Ryder rescues and warms up Alaina, taking to the hospital for further treatment. But he can't just leave her. Lynn Raye Harris creates multiple suspects on who attacked Alaina but none are panning out. Was it random? Doesn't feel random. I loved the journey that Alaina and Ryder go on - finding lover, family and her attacker. I figured out who it was and the motive about halfway through the book but I still loved second-guessing myself while following the breadcrumbs and red herrings Lynn Raye Harris deposits throughout the book.

This story was absolutely perfect. Enough suspense to keep you guessing and a twist you’ll never see coming! Rider is a member of the HOT team who has just bought his dream house. But when he looks out his window to see someone floating in the lake, he runs out to help without a second thought. When he drags the woman out, he just wants to get her stable and to the hospital. He had no idea how she would change his life. But the same goes for Alaina, although she doesn’t remember what happened, she does remember fear. But she slowly realizes when she wakes at the hospital that Ryder definitely wasn’t the one to put that fear in her. I loved the way they navigated everything, both hesitant but wanting to explore more with each other. Alaina being committed to raising her son first over her own needs. Ryder accepting him but also growing to love him and hoping he can be a good Dad to him one day despite his doubts in himself. I loved how Ryder was constantly reminding himself to slow down and let Alaina set the pace. But also how, despite all the troubles and pain from her past, she constantly reminded herself not to let the issues from men in her past make her jaded to Ryder, but to see him for who he truly was. This is absolutely a must read!

I've read a few of these books and every one of them was hot and so good😊

Ryder 'Muffin' Hanson has finally moved into his new place. And his ready to enjoy the quiet, until he spots a body floating in the lake. Lucky when he got her out she was still alive. This is how he meets Alaina Montgomery. She was beaten and strangled and left for dead.

Being the man he is he offers Alaina protection and safety. Alaina has no idea why someone would want her dead. So she accepts help from Ryder as she has a little boy to think of. But the more time Ryder spends with her and her son the more attached her son gets, but his not the only one.

But Alaina has learned early on in life not to depend on anyone but herself. Can she let go and relay on Ryder or will he be another person to disappoint her.

Loved the story, the suspense and the hotness these two had for each. Ryder was totally amazing with Alaina and her son. He was sweet and gentle and never pushed her. Alaina was strong and brave and she would do anything for her son and to give him the best life. Lots of twists and turns and even though you kind of knew who it was, the author threw you off the track all the time😁 Another suspenseful romance that I enjoyed 💖

I just love this series about Strike Team 2.
This time it's about the Single mom Alaina who Was reacued by the hot soldier Ryder.
The author's writing style is wonderful and very captivating. I love the mix of romance, suspense and action and the great chemistry between the two main protagonists. Once again, this was a book I couldn't put down.
This series has eight volumes. I started with volume eight, Hot Honor, by chance. After that I was hooked on this series and listened to one book after the other from volume one onwards. I already listen to a lot of audiobooks, but I always listened to one volume of this series to reward myself. For me, these were gems that were only taken out on special occasions. Yes, I love books about romantic suspense. But now I'm very sad that this series has come to an end. I didn't know Gregory Salinas before, but he has become one of my favorite narrators through this series.
Gregory Salinas did a great job as always and narrated brilliantly. Lila Winters also narrated great. I loved how both narrators brought across the emotions and personalities of this great story and brought the story to life. Highly recommended!

HOT Limit: Hostile Operations Team - Strike Team 2 book seven by Lynn Raye Harris starts out with an exciting and unexpected save by HOT soldier Ryder “Muffin” Hanson. From there it is obvious that Ryder is not a save them and leave them kind of guy. He helps Alaina Montgomery first by getting her to a hospital, making sure her six-year-old is cared for and then providing them a place to stay until the danger is extinguished. This is the type of hero that I can get behind. Even Alaina who is wary of all men can see that Ryder is better than most, definitely the best she has ever met.

The danger comes from a surprising source that is different from many of these stories. No terrorists or enemies of the state, that is all I will say. However, the team is all on board to help in any way that they can. The romance is sweet slow burn but sensual too. All in all, a magnificent story of learning to trust a true noncontrolling protector.

While this is an ongoing series, it reads well as a stand-alone with a wonderful HEA conclusion.

Fate intervenes when Ryder aka Muffin saves Alaina from drowning, and from then on, he is compelled to stay by her side while she recovers and to keep her safe. He offers her security and comfort, opens up his home to her and her son and brings her into his circle with his Strike team and their wives. Alaina has no recollection of what happened to her, she has no idea who wanted to kill her but she feels safe with Muffin. Her past has left her with trust issues and her number one priority is her son, Everett. But Muffin tears down her walls bit by bit and he is really good with Everett, making the decision to stay on his property easier. With no leads on who her attacker was and her memory of the event still a blank, both are still on guard for her safety….but will it be enough to keep her safe.
Another great addition to the HOT series that has it all…suspense, steam, surprises, and great characters. These two lit up the pages and I loved the no over the top drama between them. The story flowed beautifully without skipping a beat, keeping me flipping the pages and not wanting to put it down.

Hot Limit is a standalone romance that readers can dive into without having read the prior books in the series; however, for those of us who have read the prior books we get to catch up with favorite couples and their HEAs.

Ryder/Ry aka Muffin just moved into his newly purchased home a few days before he rescues a woman floating facedown in Lake Mystic. The single mom was brutally attacked and the police don’t have any suspects for who attacked her. Ryder offers/insists Alaina stay at his house so he can help her recover and provide protection to her her and her young son.

I enjoyed the slowly built relationship between Alaina and Ryder, and was entertained by the sizzling attraction sparking between them. Alaina first has to recover from the attack, and she is uneasy at letting Ryder help her so much. She is independent and has been fending for herself and her son for years without help from more than a few friends. She definitely doesn’t trust easily.

The HOT team comes to the rescue and the storyline has some surprises and unexpected twists. The storyline is very engaging and entertaining.

Ryder & Alaina

This one’s quite exciting, as if they all aren’t! It’s not every day you just buy a new house and find a woman floating face down in your lake!

Danger and suspense is all around right from the beginning. Ryder has his hands full trying to figure out who the young woman is he saved from the lake. Why his lake? Odd twists and turns with a couple of creepy characters to keep you guessing who is behind Alaina’s attack. The gang all closes ranks to help Ryder in figuring things out.

I love Ryder’s quick acceptance of Alaina and Everett and also his protectiveness and determination. Alaina is in the best place she can be to keep herself safe while she heals. Ryder will do everything in his power to make sure Alaina and Everett are well cared for and safe from harm.

This is a very well written “who done it”. The clues are intriguing and subtle. The creepy characters are described splendidly and very thoroughly. A great mystery until the end and a sweet and fulfilling HEA.

This is probably my last book in this series. I guess this just isn't my jam. Almost every FMC is abused to the extreme. That's a really overused trope.

The FMC is in serious need of therapy and mental health support. The weight of tragedies on this girl has to be a metric ton. Terrible parents, resentful family guardians, an irresponsible ex-baby daddy, a creepy stalker, a slimey bad guy law enforcement officer, a psychotic boss...it's just an overload of drama that muddies a real story. A person with no skills and a young son to support, too? What, no terrible illness? Again, just a tsunami of bad life experiences make this female lead a veritable sad sack. There's no real enjoyment for this girl until she has some major league $ex with this special forces dude.

There's some much bad stuff happening to this girl that it's difficult to sympathize or even relate. The character is overdone.

The story takes the damsel-in-distress trope to extremes with the slimey sheriff deputy, the stalkey landlord's grandson, and an unidentified abuser all in the picture simultaneously. Too much.

HOT Limit is the latest book in Lynn Raye Harris’s HOT Strike Team 2 series. This book was terrific, and I couldn’t put it down. You can always count on Lynn Raye Harris for an exciting story with excellent characters and lots of feels. Ryder and Alaina’s story has it all. There is an alpha with a heart of gold. There is a single mother who decides to take a chance with love and trust and a cute little boy that steals everyone’s heart. It is sexy and suspenseful too. I did not see the twist coming for a long time. Ryder never expected to dive into the freezing water and save Alaina when he went out for coffee at his new house. Someone is out to get her, but she has no idea who it is. He feels like he should look after her. They start to build a friendship and feel more when she stays at his house to recover. In thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I can’t wait for more HOT stories!

Ryder "Muffin" Hanson is a HOT Team 2 special operative. He fits all the requirements for the job: sexy, smart, responsible and he bakes, too. He's just bought his first home facing the water just outside the town of Mystic Cove, Maryland. He loves his new home with great views and quiet solitude. But soon after moving in Ry must literally dive into rescuing a young woman. His protective instinct kicks in and he finds himself protecting her, and her young son, too. Alaina Montgomery is also new to Mystic Cove, she has very little support and is barely making ends meet. Ryder soon puts that to rights by bringing her, and her son Everett, into the HOT team enclave. But someone definitely has Alaina in their violent sights and Ryder knows he must be the man to make her life safe. Because he knows Alaina and Everett are meant to be his family. Now he must convince her while stopping whoever is threatening her before it's too late. Great story of love, family and desperate dedication.

Once again we visit the HOT characters with HOT Limits-Hostile Operations Team-Strike Team 2 by Lynn Raye Harris and this is another 5 star in my book. What do you do when you see a lady floating unconscious in a freezing lake? If you are Ryder "Muffin" Hanson(a member of a HOT Team) you dive in and pull her out. Ryder finds out the lady is Alaina Montgomery a single mom with a son, he also sees she was beaten up and thrown in the lake to die. As Ryder hears Alaina's life story he becomes very protective of her and her son. As time goes on the Alaina and Ryder are very drawn to each other, but they find out Alaina is still in danger so that is when Ryder get his HOT team-mates involved to help solve what is going on. I encourage you to read this great book to find out the whole story, you will not be disappointed, I wasn't! I love the twist at the end to who was behind all of Alaina's troubles!

I don't know why, but every single time I read one of Lynn Raye Harris' books, I get sucked in, and lose all sense of time. Actually, no, I take that back, I do know why. Lynn has the ability to "paint" with words. The reader gets transported to a world where they don't want to escape from. HOT Limit is no exception. After rescuing Alaina from almost drowning, Ryder is compelled to help her get back on her feet. Ryder and Alaina's story is full of suspense and romance. It also happens to be one of my favorite tropes which is the "single mom". I just love the way Ryder respects Alaina's responsibility to her son.

However, danger lurks, and when it comes calling, can Ryder and the rest of Strike Team 2 save Alaina and her son??? To find out, go grab a copy for yourself. I promise, you won't regret it! Another home run, Lynn, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alaina is a single mother of a six year old. She hasn't had an easy life and it seems when she takes a step forward, life knocks her two back. She cleans a crisis center and a couple of houses. She lives in a rundown RV but loves her son more than anything. When she wakes up in the hospital, she doesn't remember what happened.
Ryder has a little cottage behind his house and offers to rent it to Alaina. She finally agrees and her and her little boy move in. Ryder is having his team try and figure out who attacked her. When Alaina goes missing, the team bands together to find her for their teammate but can they find her in time?

I was totally shocked at the villian! Suspense. Sex. A woman who needs a break in life and finally gets it. A man who is a good guy and just trying to make life easier for a woman.

Ryder aka Muffin, is finally settling into his own place, when he spots a body floating in his lake behind his new house😳 He rushes to the person and discovers a woman, badly beaten, barely alive and in desperate need of medical attention. Another wanting to leave the woman until he knows how she is, he offers to help her until she gets back on her feet❣️Unfortunately, even though the healing is done, unfortunately the danger doesn’t appear to have disappeared. Will they figure out who tried to kill her and will she open herself up to a new relationship with Ry?

Loved catching up with all the HOT crew, finding out more about this couple and getting to spend some quality time with everyone😉 I’m especially excited for Zany’s story as that brief glimpse was just NOT enough😇 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review😍

Great Story That Will Keep You Guessing Til the End

In this story, we meet Alaina, who is a single mother to an adorable little boy. This poor woman has been through so much heartache her entire life, but she keeps moving on and doing her absolute best for her little boy. You just can’t help but cheer her on when you learn her back story. Then there’s Ryder “Muffin”, who jumps into a cold lake to save her life. The way he steps in to be there for her is heartwarming. He knows nothing about her, but the pull to keep her safe is so strong that you just can’t help falling for this guy. I enjoyed watching how these two grew closer together and also how great Muffin is with little Everett. The mystery of who was after Alaina will keep you on your toes until the very end. This is a great story and one you don’t want to miss.

When Ryder discovers a womens body floating in the lake on his new property, he doesn't think twice about jumping in to save her. He's in the military and has trained for this. Alaina has been left for dead but was saved by the very handsome Ryder. She's a single mum just trying to do the best she can for her little boy, but was this just some random attack, or is someone out to get her. Ryder has a protective streak and makes it his mission to keep her and her son safe. As feelings soon begin to blossom, Alaina and Ryder are looking forward to the future, but is it all about to come to an end all too soon.

I really enjoyed Hot Limit. This story is full of passion, suspense, heartbreak, and love. This is the first I have read in this series, but that didn't take away any of my enjoyment, and I will definitely be reading the other books in the future.
