Zodiac Dragon Valley #2

Capricorn Dragon

We’re natural born enemies, and he infuriates me. Especially when he makes me blush.
He robbed my palace and now I’m forced to spend time with him in his cell.
I hate how he’s flirting with me to try and talk his way out of here.
But no matter how I try to ignore his mocking laugh, this dungeon is getting awfully hot.

If he believes I’m going to fall for his charm offensive, he needs to think again.
Those intense gray eyes that turn cloudy when he uses his magic will not affect me.
I need to keep my wits about me around this silver-tongued thief.
Yet all I can think about is the other things he could do with that tongue.

I rely on my walls of professionalism to stop him from getting under my skin.
I know what he’s plotting. I can see right through his game.
I know he’s only cooperating in order to win my trust and eventually escape.
But if I know all of this, then why am I in his cell … in his bed … in his arms …

Have I become the prisoner … of my own prisoner?

The Zodiac Dragon Valley series takes place in a wild and dangerous parallel world. In a howling gray void of fog and entropy, shifters have to find the bonfires in the darkness, where magic, love, and long lost mates are hidden...

Please I previously published this book under the series title “Zodiac Dragons”. I’ve changed the series title to “Zodiac Dragon Valley”.

Wolf really needs to let go of the romance aspects and go into full epic fantasy. The spice scene we did get is very good. Still having the same issue as the first book. The romance aspects happen very abruptly as if to be thrown in. I was pretty bored in the first half. The reader is introduced to the MC's following a few years into Queen Lana's reign. Ancantha is a badass, captain for the royal guard. Complete role reversal where the FMC yes wield's a weapon but personalitywise comes off like most typical romantasy MMC's. Disconnected, keeps her emotions in check and fully dedicated to protecting the palace. Meanwhile our MMC is goofy and charismatic. Not only is Cato a thief but also a mage. Really glad that just because the first book had wolf/dragon, it isn't repeated in book two. His back story was exhilarating and heart wrenching at the same time. On top of that, Haspar was a phenomenal villain. If Wolf were to write a much longer book and let her character's/romance burn slower, I would eat it completely up. Every single word.

Cato is a mage and a thief. He manages to get into the dragon Archives and is just about to disappear with his magical booty when he gets caught. The only good thing about that is the woman who caught him - Acantha.

Acantha is Captain of the Palace Guard. She is still trying to grow comfortable with the recent changes in their cavern home. A new Queen, who apparently came from an entirely different world that is somehow reached through the Fog that is trying to overtake their own world. A fog that contains monstrous creatures and which muddles the minds of those who remain in it too long. Then there are the wolves. Ancient enemies. The Alpha of the pack is the Queen's mate and a new alliance has been formed between the two groups. The ancestral memories of the wolf pack has already come in handy as they came together to fight back the Fog's encroachment on the tunnels and forest paths.

Acantha is finishing up a routine patrol when an uneasy feeling sends her to an unexpected place. The Archives are generally only guarded at the entrance, but something tells her to look deeper. Descending into the little visited lower levels, she realizes that someone is rummaging through the artifacts. How did he get in there? Where did he come from? Neither dragon nor wolf - her world is about to changes again.

Love this new series! I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

It is one year after Queen Lana showed up with the wolves on the mountain and she found her mate to rule by her side ending the war between dragon and wolf shifters in the Valley. Now, Acantha, Captain of the Guard, has caught an intruder unaware in the Archives. Cato is a mage tasked with infiltering the dragon lair to capture a specific magical item. When caught, he tries to lie and tell the truth until he can escape back to the coven. Once he tricks Acantha, he escapes to the brutality of his coven leader and what he has truly done to Cato. He is now infiltering the dragon lair once more, to set things up for a war! The biggest issue is when the relationship between him and Acantha grows and grows. When he is overheard talking to his leader, he is brought before the Queen to face his punishments. Is it too late to stop the incoming war? Too late to save his life? Too late for Acantha and he to have a life? So much is at stake on both sides…what will be the outcome?

Dragon and mage are a match most wouldn't think of, but wowza what a pair! He's got knowledge but unable to fully share it. Lots of changes are taking place in dragon mountain and a lot of them are having a hard time with it...soon they realize that the changes are for the better! The wolves join them in a battle for the mountain and their way of life. The mage tells of the outside world and the Fog. An escape leads to chaos and betrayal but in the end justice triumphs! Love is found and grasped with both hands and talons! Great ending and looking forward to more star crossed couples in this series!

He is there under pretense, she is the captain of the guards.
A mage and a dragon, two complete opposites.
But that's not going to stop them when two soul mates meet.
He just has to realize the truth of his life and his love for her and she has to realize that there is more to life than just being the captain of the guards.
Eventually, maybe...
I read a copy of this in exchange for this, my honest opinion.
This held my attention and kept me coming back for more.

This is the story of Acantha and Cato. There are a lot of moving parts to this story that kept me so engaged. The chemistry between these two keeps growing but danger isn’t far away. I enjoyed every minute of this entertaining story. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
