Welp! She did it again and we're back to purgatory while we wait for the next book. I love Kaye Blue and her books have just gotten better and better. Not there there was anything wrong with her first books but you can see her grow as a writer over time and its a joy to watch. I cannot WAIT for the next book and if she ever uses ARC readers, I'll be camped outside her (email) door waiting for my copy!
This story is dragging on for little reason and could have easily concluded with part 2. Elias continues to lord over Kayla while fighting to hide his changing feelings towards her.
****Spoilers****
This reads like an abusive relationship. Over the many years, Elias has been forcing Kayla to negotiate seedy deals to repay her father's debt. Yes, she agreed to make that sacrifice, but she has been in compromising situations often. Things were so tough for her that she wore worn and threadbare clothes and shoes.
Then, here comes Elias' father who tortured her for information she didn't have. Bruised her face and had her tied to a chair. Elias rescued her, and there was little mention about his reaction to her face. Lots of missing details in this story. A disappointing read.
I love these two but they are so intense I always feel like I’m not getting enough details about them. I want more everything with them. I still have so many questions I hope the next book is longer and more detailed. As much as I pay for each book I should get more details but love the series.
Again, the writing style and editing makes this a difficult read. My curiosity to how this ends causes me to read the next book. If you can get past the writing and editing it would have been a good story.
I am so glad I discovered this series a bit late because waiting would have absolutely gutted me, I loved this!!!! I know what I'll be doing next year- re-reading this series.
