Vi è mai capitato di dover interrompere un film sul più bello perché quello che sta succedendo è troppo?
Ecco, questo libro mi ha fatto questo effetto: mi ha coinvolto molto e l’incazzatura e la rabbia erano così reali che ho spesso dovuto interrompere la lettura.
Anna McGruder e David Drummond si amano moltissimo, e malgrado le reticenze iniziali di Lorne, padre della ragazza, alla prossima luna si sposeranno col beneplacito delle famiglie.
Poche settimane prima del matrimonio David va ad aiutare Maggie e Will e al suo rientro non vede l’ora di rivedere la sua dolce Anna.
Purtroppo però, poco prima dell’arrivo di David, Anna si sveglia in piena notte in mezzo al bosco. È sola e proprio non ricorda cosa possa essere successo; ritrovata dal fratello Ossian, viene riportata a casa.
I suoi familiari, ispezionando i suoi vestiti per capire se c’è stata violenza, effettivamente trovano del sangue e, in seguito a questa scoperta Lorne decide di sciogliere il fidanzamento.
Questo matrimonio non s’ha da fare!
Man mano che la storia prosegue gli espedienti per impedire l’unione dei due giovani diventano sempre più disgustosi e indegni.
Sebbene la cosa non sia esplicitata dall’autrice, già al risveglio di Anna nella Foresta, si intuisce che con molta probabilità il rapimento è una farsa organizzata dall’amorevole padre. Sin da subito io ho iniziato a insultare malamente Lorne, senza avere prove a suffragio, ma cogliendo i pochi indizi lasciati qua e là il puzzle si è composto davanti a me rapidamente. Purtroppo le nefandezze perpetrate ai danni di Anna vanno via via in crescendo, sia da parte del fratello maggiore Ossian (crudele) che del padre, anche se quello che non è chiaro è perché ce l’abbiano così tanto con David.
Quando i Drummond capiscono che in tutta la vicenda c’è qualcosa di losco chiamano in soccorso la banda dei cugini, che accorre da tutta la Scozia.
Anna sebbene sembri di primo acchito un po’ tanto ingenua e delicata, una volta compreso il doppio gioco della sua famiglia tira fuori una grinta e una forza insospettabili: sarà lei a sedurre David nel monastero dove viene tenuta prigioniera e sarà sempre lei a salvare due ragazze dalla tratta delle bambine.
Anna attinge la sua forza sia dall’amore appassionato per David, sia dall’ammirazione per le gesta di Maggie, narratale da David, se c’è riuscita lei potrà riuscirci anche Anna. David è
l’erede del clan Drummond, sarà lui un domani ad essere Laird, ma quando gli dicono che per il bene del clan non può rischiare di allevare un figlio non suo è deciso a rinunciarvi pur di sposare la sua Anna.
Questo libro conferma che i clan associati ai Ramsay sono composti da personaggi assai interessanti. La Montclair è veramente brava a creare personaggi a tutto tondo: realistici vibranti ed emozionanti.
Consiglio vivamente questa saga con personaggi di tale calibro non c’è mai da annoiarsi.

I really liked Anna and David. I think it was a nice way to mix it up with a couple that's sort of already established or through a more traditional path also being in love and fighting for it.

In this story Anna MacGruder wakes up from an attack in the forest. Yet she has no memory of her attack and all that has happened. This is a good Highlander romance, and a good addition to the Band of Cousins series. It can be read standalone, but will be much better if you read the Clan Grant series and Highland Clan series first. That is because there are many, many characters in this story, most of whom were introduced in one of the other two series.
This one gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.
I liked David, and thought he was good for Anna. I liked how he fought to marry her, even after her father canceled their betrothal, and I liked how his family helped him save her.
I liked Anna, but thought she seemed a little weak at first. It was like she didn't fight her father very hard when he first canceled her betrothal. She did get a lot tougher as the story went on, though, and ended up helping to save herself and 2 other girls. By the way, her father was absolutely awful, and deserved the pain he endured at the end.
I was glad that David and Anna found their HEA -- they were good together, and they both needed each other.
I also liked most of the other characters, especially Will's grandfather and the children, who were so cute together. And I absolutely love how the clans keep adopting children who have been abused or sold. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

This is my 16th story by this author and I really enjoy this series. I have not read them in order so is a stand alone, but I urge you to read the series.
I can't believe all that was thrown at this couple so you really get your monies worth. At times, I felt they would never get their HEA, but they do and it is anything by smooth. Many kidnappings and twists had me continuing to read til the end.
I must admit when author's have so much going on in a story, you sometimes don't feel a connection or romance. But, I did with this story. Their love and passion come out in spades and you feel it all.
There is lovemaking, heat level 4 out of 5 and I didn't find it vulgar or erotic, and only described I believe twice.
There are many villains that you think you know where the story is heading, but nope she throws us a curve. There are many twists, surprises and suspense that will keep you entertained.
I loved catching up with the father's and their children (Band of Cousins), what a clever and unique story line.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and spice. I've read the story that follows this HIGHLAND RETRIBUTION awhile ago and gave it a 5 star review. I am going to re-read it because I don't want to leave this family. (ljb)
I can't believe all that was thrown at this couple so you really get your monies worth. At times, I felt they would never get their HEA, but they do and it is anything by smooth. Many kidnappings and twists had me continuing to read til the end.
I must admit when author's have so much going on in a story, you sometimes don't feel a connection or romance. But, I did with this story. Their love and passion come out in spades and you feel it all.
There is lovemaking, heat level 4 out of 5 and I didn't find it vulgar or erotic, and only described I believe twice.
There are many villains that you think you know where the story is heading, but nope she throws us a curve. There are many twists, surprises and suspense that will keep you entertained.
I loved catching up with the father's and their children (Band of Cousins), what a clever and unique story line.

It only took him 2 weeks to ask for her hand in marriage. Her father hated David's family and fought their betrothal at every opportunity. The mystery of his actions puzzled not only Anna, but David's family since they knew of no problems between the Clans. Anna always felt she was Daddy's darling, but soon questioned if he ever truly loved her.
This story is centered around the dysfunction between Anna's parents marriage, her mistreatment by her older brother and the favoritism toward this same older brother by Dad. Her security was seriously shaken in her family.

Another visit to my favorite family
It deserved every 5 stars. A return to my beloved Grant/Ramsay Clan family. A usual I was drawn into story immediately, and rhode the whirlwind to the HEA end. It was almost too exciting for my poor nerves. It kept me guessing till end. I love every person in these series. Love to read about each reoccurring person to keep up with my families. I just cannot get enough. It is so great to read about all the females who are as good as the men, frequently even better. It is exciting, and so romantic with a little tasteful steam. If you will, start at first book, and enjoy following each wonderful story. It can be read as a standalone, but enjoyed if read in order. Guess I don’t even have to say that I recommend, as I do everyone of Ms. Montclair’s books. I am waiting for next book, to continue with my favorite Clan/Family.

This is the second book in The Band of Cousins Series, and it was as good as expected. It has you turning the page right from page 1. It is full of mystery and adventure and action. The characters where well written and can be easily related to. I enjoy the fact that all of Ms Montclair books have characters you get to know from other stories and look forward to seeing in the future. Although this book doesn’t put the cousins any further in their mission, it is included and continues to intrigue you and have you looking forward to the next book. Although there is an underlying story through these books, it can be read as a stand alone. Well worth the read again. I received this book as an ARC.

Fast paced page turner
This book in the series is fast paced and I could not put it down. It had lots of twists and turns and was fun to read. The descriptions made it easy to imagine being a bystander in the book. It seemed he was always chasing after his fiancée or she was trying to escape and was then recaptured. It was not done the same way every time. But you definitely wanted to kick him in the shins for being trusting of ones he never should have trusted in the first place because they were the ones blocking his marriage and stealing away his intended.
I would definitely recommend this book and plan on going to find another of her books and start reading the next adventure.

Such amazingness in these highland books!!!
I swear, if I could live in any era it would be before the 19th Century. Things were so different. Life was a series of people working together and living together to strive for survival. Now a days people have gotten so used to everything being handed to them. It's just not the way life should be. And these books bring me to realization that a togetherness that is formed between the families in these stories are people working together to make sure that everyone has a chance at happiness. That is true romance!!

Lies, Lies and More Lies Makes this story very intriguing:
Wow, so much turmoil from the lies that are told in this story.
A very intriguing beginning along with a mystery to solve that takes us on a romance whirlwind with David and Anna. They deal with a betrayal, forced marriage, slave captives, escapes, steamy romance and more. To thrilling to set this story down. I had an OMG moment more than once.
Terrific tense ending along with a beautiful romantic wedding.
A favorite line in the book was : He Was Her Highland Bliss💖

The Band of Cousins is turning out to be another excellent series & I highly recommend this series & all of Keira Montclair's books as she never disappoints. It is so much fun seeing the cousins grow up & take their places in their respective clans plus so wonderful to see some of the founding members of Grant, Ramsey clans again. David & Anna were a wonderful couple with obstacles to jump over beyond their control but, as always, they found their HEA! I am looking forward to seeing the next cousin Braden & his desire to help Cairstine.

Ready For The Next One
What a nice and quick paced story. This is book 2 in the Band of Cousins Series. David and Anna's story was good. The plot was good as well. David is betrothed to marry the lass and she disappears. He is determined to find her.
This one was good, but not my favorite. I loved all the cousins and the parents. I look forward to Braden and Daniel's story in the future.

The love story of David Drummond and Anna is in the same line of Drummonds with the Grants and Ramsey clans who are all kin to each other. This Band of Cousins series is another excellent novel by Keira Montclair. These books are all stand alones but if read in the order written gives the perception of being one on going novel. Readers, this is a series that you must read. Happy Reading!!!!

As per usual, another great read by Keira
This is the second time I’ve read this book and loved it just as much as the first time a couple of years ago. The odd but twigged a memory but it mainly felt like reading it a first time. I’m glad I own it so I can read it again and again and again ......, and you will too. Another amazing book. I love how they have added to the Band. They work amazing together. David and Anna are perfect together. I love the confidence his love and belief in her gave her the strength to overcome everything. I love how this extended family grows every book. They adopt all of those in need. This world need more like them. A

Another exciting read. Danger, secrets and a crazy brother. Anna and David were betrothed until her father did something very wrong and broke their engagement, but David wasn't giving up until he found out what was going on an got his Anna back. It's a long hard road and a lot of questions will be answered along the way.

Love Keira’s Stories
I have read every book since the beginning with Alex and Maddie. At the end of each book I think this is is my favorite and the next cannot get any better. I am wrong every single time! The Band of Cousins ties all the best parts of the Grants, Ramsays, and Drummonds together with new adventures and new loves. Must read series!

David and Anna love each other. As there wedding nears it appears Anna has been abducted. When she is found they believe she has been compromised and her Sire cancels the marriage. David doesn’t care about her lost virginity he loves her. Both must find out why this has happened before she is married to someone else!

Not the same writer
The first book was really good but this book feels like somebody else wrote it. I keep thinking ...REALLY? No way... This is not even the same writer! No I did not like how it was written. The story line was too slow and rated R... I hope the next books are better.

Great read
This auth or has me hooked on her work. Having read the series of the clans Ramsey and Grants i then started on the Band of cousins. Only 7 more books to go but it is additive that i am downloading the next book in the series as soon as one is finished. Great reads all of them i have not been disappointed by any of her books.

Very enjoyable reading
I love this series of stories. The characters are strong and positive role models. The enjoyable part is following the progression of the families. The women are not traditional and fight for their beliefs along with the men who not only protect back them up.

Doesn't lure me in.
There's no excitement in the writting. Nothing that makes me fall in love with the characters. I mostly read to escape,not to be mean, "but",this is no more compelling than my own life. I hope this helps .

This is a 4.5. True love thwarted, insanity, jealousy, greed and evil. A good story that leads you hither and yon touching on past events and ongoing investigations. I read it in one sitting until afte 2 AM. Waiting for the next one to add to my collection.

Great Story
As usual this author didn’t disappoint. I have read every one of this and the previous two series and they are always wonderfully written. The characters are so real. You are captivated from page one till the end. Highly recommended!
