Dubbed "Magick Manor', it was once a brothel. Now, this strange, cube shaped house is known for its bizarre hauntings and violent ghosts. Today, a crew of pornographic artists have come to Magick manor to make a film... ...only, the Manor has a different, more abhorrent design for their day.
THIS BOOK FEATURES X-RATED DEPRAVITY AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE. IT IS NOT INTENDED FOR SENSITIVE READERS!
This was just a nasty, sexually deviant, super violent little adventure, in a compact little book. Pornographers and a house possessed by demons. I mean, could a horror fan need or want anything more? So I did enjoy the brief history of Magick Manor, and it gave the proper depth, leading into the actual present day story. The characters were all toss aways. No real background or depth, but rather as placeholders ready to be massacred. So it was hard to feel bad for anyone, because you didn't get to now any of them first. But that's what books like this aim to do, so no points were taken away for that. Swann, specifically, needed a lot more time on these pages, especially with his...well...let's say preferred activities. Even with some really awesome visuals of the various demons and creatures, I felt like Swann should have undergone some further transformation or evolution of some kind to really set him up as an otherworldly menace. But one could argue how much of his eventual actions were fueled by his own deviant behaviors or under the guise of the Magick Manor inhabitants. The ending felt fairly predictable, but, again, this was just very sexually aggressive and gory, so if that's all you're looking for, then have at it. I will caution readers as to a brief rape scene, which somehow was one of the least disturbing parts of the book. Not a bad showing at all by Judith Sonnet.
Hey Babe, take a walk on the wild side. In this novella a porn producer buys a haunted house with a bad past. A maniac slaughtered some whores there. Now many years later the house is still obsessed. Everybody in it suffers from heightened sexual arousal and sadism (LOL, what a plot). Will our group of characters survive the long lusty weekend? What are the monsters about? Who are the whores from hell? Well, here you have some extreme porn horror with nasty monsters (disgusting body horror) and some eerie moments. Sometimes a bit repetitive sometimes too gross but entertaining for a 10 days project taken by this author. Sweet dreams are definitely not made of this...
Magick is my first foray into Judith Sonnet’s extreme horror work. It certainly delivered on the stuff I expect to see in extreme horror. Dang.
In Magick, bad things happen to a lot of people. A LOT of bad things. We have a haunted house with a brutal and sordid history. And if the haunted house doesn’t get you, the haunted forest around it sure as heck will. BUT… it also had a good story, too, instead of just scenes of gross out. I personally feel that’s important, especially in EH. It’s got some creativity in here too, which I also really appreciate.
This is not going to be a book for everyone. It’s gonna have you cringing if you have even an ounce of human emotion, that’s for sure!
Well..."Magick Manor" sure threw up some mixed up wicked shit!! Wow!!😲 It was like Hammer House Of Horror mixed with a porn film.🤔 The story line was gripping, pretty explicit and horrific at times 🤢🤮 Judith Sonnet always delivers some wild stories every time I read her work and I loved this one ❤️ 5 "MAGICK"🔮🪄🧙 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s 🔮🪄🧙 from me.
Magick Manor was closed. The doors and windows were all sealed, and no one dared approach it. Not since a group of pornographers had gone to it, only to disappear that very night. There were no answers, but there were speculative guesses. The house was haunted, and it had consumed all who entered it. It was, frankly, foolhardy for one to even presume they would be allowed exit simply because they had been allowed entrance.
Magick Manor was closed, but only because it was sleeping. Satiated by its meal, it would wait patiently before it was ready to welcome new guests.

This book holds nothing back at all it has a plot and enough graphic scenes to last someone for an entire lifespan. This book talks about a house that has an infamous dark history for being depraved, sick and demented. Follow this book as a team of porno starts film the show of a lifetime which tends to be for a lifetime. Be prepared to have a complete mind warp.
It's a fun enough extreme haunted house horror story. Plenty of gore, torture, and vile descriptions but not a lot else. It was a fun, quick read, but nothing overly memorable to set itself above the 100s of other extreme horror books out there.
This is extreme horror, so check the content warnings
Magick centers around a house where horrific murders and mysterious disappearances have occurred throughout its history. The setting and the backstory provide an intriguing start, and in the end, Sonnet does a great job of tying all the pieces together and making sense of the extreme acts surrounding the house. Extreme horror works best when there is a purpose and a solid story behind all the brutality, and Magick provides that. The pacing was good. I found myself breezing through the story. The characters felt fleshed out enough to make them unique and to understand their motivations. The reveal at the end does a great job of further bringing together those motivations and explaining some of the odder elements of the novella. Was there a need for some editing? Did one of the characters feel a little too convenient for the story? Sure. But in the end I found myself not caring about those things, because I was swept up in the narrative. I will definitely be checking out more of Sonnet's work.
Let me start by saying if you have any sort of morals, keep scrolling past this post. But if you like over-the-top gore mixed with hardcore smut wrapped up in a 100 page package, then check out Magick by Judith Sonnet. My first read by Judith was a doozy that starts off with a carnal haunted house that escalates quickly, with plenty of x-rated shocks along the way. The paperback price for this one is insanely cheap and you can read it in a day, so if you’re up for some sexual depravity mixed with your horror, head over to Amazon and pick this one up.

A number of short gory stories. Each story is different with interesting characters lots of sex, action, misdirection, and some violence leading to each conclusion 😯👀
I would recommend this novella and author to readers looking for a very different horror read 😮😕 2025 🙃🙄
Dear god. This is a case of WTF did I just read? I don't even know what to say. It was awesome. Now, I'm going to go and scream into the void for a while
There were so many gruesome descriptive body parts
“This is hell!” Swann said. “I can do… whatever the fuck… I want!”
The inventive description of people in various situations was gruesome to read about but addictive at the same time. The book is almost 100 pages, yet it did feel a bit long.
I am not sure why, but anything with ghosts and paranormal activity is always easier to read about than actual people doing the killing.
Saying all this, it was a little boring. Nothing really exciting happened, except for the gruesome way that people would kill each other and just look. It is sometimes hard to imagine these creatures after a while.
However, I still enjoyed this book, and I won't mind reading more of this author.
I’ve been trying to read this novella for the better part of a day, and I just keep zoning out and turning my attention to something else. I just couldn’t hold onto the train of the plot and am just going to move onto the next book in my TBR pile.
I love a raunchy, disgusting, disturbing read and this is definitely that! I’m a fan of Judith’s writing but this one felt a bit rushed to me. Which is funny because in the afterward she mentioned how she loved writing/editing/publishing ‘No One Rides for Free’ in 10 days and I LOVED that one. Didn’t seem rushed to me at all.
Overall though, this played out very much like a gory, so-bad-its-good horror movie from the 90s. The scenes are horrific and I love how this ended. I just wish there was a little more of it and a little more build up.
An interesting idea for a story that unfortunately quickly descends into uninspired slop. Also someone needs to take this author's exclamation mark key away! She uses them way too much! It really! Breaks! Immersion!
Magick by Judith Sonnet is exactly what I want to read when I think splatterpunk. It is a novella filled with gore, gross descriptions, psychopathic scenes and violence. This is a five star review for a novella which is written, edited and published in ten days. Amazing!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Character development is well done in Magick. I am impressed at how well done it is considering this is a novella with five characters to get to know rather than a full length novel.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The plot is original, it keeps the reader engaged. All loose ends are tied up at the end of the book. The book is fast paced and it’s really impossible to put down.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Written, edited and published in ten days? Just because this author can do this in ten days does not mean quality was sacrificed. This is a quality read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Gore, violence, demonic spirits, a level of psychotic which went above and beyond and body horror are present in this book. I am truly disturbed by this novella. The descriptions of these scenes are a true work of art. I love it.
Magick is a book I highly recommend if you love splatterpunk. If this is your first splatterpunk read, go in knowing it is sick, twisted and detailed enough that you will picture every scene in your mind.
2.5 rounded down. This was definitely better than the other book I have read by this author..but still not great. This one had some ok and interesting ideas, but I feel like the focus was just on the shock factors and gore rather than any story itself. I think this could have been something great that was still just as terrible and depraved, but also maybe had a little substance.
Wow. Just wow. I spent most of my time reading this with my mouth agape. Which btw, if I was a character in this book, would have led to some major violation. If you're not a fan of gorey sex, stay away.
