Despite being a dedicated reader since my youth, it's become difficult as an adult to chase ths experience of simply /having/ to devour a novel, cover to cover, without lifting your eyes from the page.
And yet! Again and again, without fail, I have found that same glee with Fox's novels. The previous books in this series were eagerly snapped up and, after a year's pause since the last in the series, I'm delighted that Shallow Ending is no exception.
This is the fifth in this different but excellent series. After events in the last book, Lucas and Kate are keeping their distance and Kate is only returning to work. Lucas is concentrating on selling his art. Kate is called on to investigate the death of a young woman which appears to be caused by the RIP deadly substance. Lucas is asked to find the daughter of a woman who is dying of cancer. At the same time, Kate's sister Mabel is incarcerated in prison.
As usual, Kate and Lucas's worlds collide and I really enjoyed the denial but inevitability of events occuring to bring them together. The storyline was fascinating especially given the Salisbury poisonings of a few years ago. The side story of Mabel and her conniving antics was also excellent.
I always find these books tend to keep me gripped and this was no exception and I raced through it. I hope there's more to come in this terrific series.
Shallow Ending by AD Fox is book 5 in the Henry and Sparrow series. I love this series and have been waiting for the next instalment. This series is a little bit different. Kate Sparrow is a DS in Salisbury and Lucas Henry is an artist – and a sometimes dowser. He is trying to leave that behind him but finds himself drawn into the case Kate is working on. And then there is Kate’s sister, Mabel, who is the exact opposite of her sister. It was a thrilling read, from beginning to end. Highly recommend this series.
I have read the whole Henry and Sparrow series. The characters are enthralling as are the storylines. I'll be sad if this is the last one in this series, but understand it has run it's course. Please don't stop writing thrillers, you are an exceptional storyteller A D Fox!
Read all of these thrilled finding this one published So good entraining interesting and downright riveting Read it in one sitting
The last book ending left me sad for both Kate and Lucas This was a perfect way to finish their saga I won’t do spoilers but read this series you will love all of them
This is a nice conclusion to this series, although I hope the author will continue it, sooner or later. With a lot of suspense, the story keeps you engaged right until the end
