Thou shalt not wish your ex-husband be run over by a truck. Nor would I wish bad things on the dressmakers, flower delivery persons, and snotty little hotel concierges who messed up room reservations and gave the suite I was supposed to have to my ex-husband and his bimbo-of-the-week. Now that I’ve arrived at the hotel for my daughter’s week-long wedding festivities, there are a thousand or so things that require my attention. And there are the things I’m desperately trying not to focus on, like my loneliness and the angry feeling I get every time I look at my ex. But when everything that can go wrong does go wrong, I need a break, just one afternoon to pull it together. And it's at the market in town where I find exactly that. And so much more. Thanks to a pirate’s lost treasure, I find a trinket, a strange and beautiful stone, that seems to be making all my wishes come true. Suddenly everything is falling into place in my life. I may, however, have to learn to be careful what I wish for because sometimes what we think we want and what we really need are too entirely different things.
L.A. Boruff lives in East Tennessee with her husband, three children, and an ever growing number of cats. She loves reading, watching TV, and procrastinating by browsing Facebook. L.A.’s passions include vampires, food, and listening to heavy metal music. She once won a Harry Potter trivia contest based on the books, and lost one based on the movies. She has two bands on her bucket list that she still hasn’t seen: AC/DC and Alice Cooper. Feel free to send tickets.
This book left me howling with laughter. I think any of us with an ex in our past can sympathize with what Cami’s going through. Likewise, all of us with family connections. There’s so much of this story that, while living down to some of the worst possible stereotypes of Murphy’s Law, is just so quintessentially part of the human experience that it’s immediately and immensely relatable. It also showcases one of my favorite things to laugh at: the absurd in the everyday. This story is completely over the top, but I think that’s what I loved most about it. Now I’m already looking forward to what mischief the next piece of the treasure will bring. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
a fun and entertaining story sets in a beautiful Caribbean island, with a few interesting twists and turns, a breezy vacation read with a happy ending.
Ever had a wedding you’ve been helping to plan just go absolutely wrong? That’s what’s happening to Cami when trying to plan her daughter’s wedding. First, the venue/hotel has gone downhill over the years and most of the rooms are under construction, her suite gets stolen from her by her soon-to-be son in laws mother who also happens to be her high school arch nemesis, the wedding dress was delivered 10x too big, the baker cut a finger and can't bake the cake, the flowers DIED en route… and so on. Lol and to top it all off, her ex-husband brought a plus one with a much younger Barbie lookalike.
When Jean-Luc tells Cami that he will take care of everything, she should have known better, but she takes the reprieve and ends up in town looking at the shopping stalls. At one of the stalls, she finds a box that entrances her, and she has to have it. The stall owner tells her that it is supposedly part of a treasure that a pirate lost at sea. Once back in her room, she is finally able to open the box, and inside is a gorgeous citrine necklace. Once wearing it, she realizes that it seems to grant wishes since now EVERYTHING is going swimmingly.. until Jean-Luc goes missing, and she believes she turned him into a pig. At least she met someone – a sexy, Scottish brogue accented pirate. Yum – I can't wait to read more of those two together!
Camille AKA Cami is obliged to attend the destination wedding of her daughter that will be attended by her desirable ex-husband and his latest young fling, her aging and occasionally unpleasant mother, and the groom’s mother, her nemesis from high school. It promises to be an extremely stressful experience, and indeed, it starts that way and gets worse. Suffering with the weasely little desk clerk as he reports the flowers all died, the cake won’t be made, the wedding dress is six sizes too big, and the band is canceled. However, there are some fantastic extenuating circumstances: a handsome, sexy pirate who captures her interest in a big way and a Citrine jewel that may (or may not) grant wishes. An ex-husband who may or may not have been turned into a pig. A short stay in jail being suspected of her ex-husband’s murder. It’s a humorous and funny tale Cami tells of her experiences during the week before the wedding on a Caribbean island, which she fondly remembered but had since been ravaged by time and is now run by a very unpleasant desk clerk. Then there is a romance with the pirate finally ending in a happy, not-cliffhanger, ending that segues into the next book in the series.
When I started reading I thought this is going to be a good book...turned out it was a great paranormal story. I finished it in one sitting I couldn't put it down.
The characters were wonderful and funny. I laughed a lot reading Citrine Wishes. I loved that the protagonist is an over 40 woman who has to deal with family, her ex-husband and his bimbo of the week. She just needs a break from everything going wrong with her daughters island wedding. Off she goes for some market time and comes across a woman selling trinket boxes with a surprise inside.
There hasn't been a book that I haven't liked by L. A. Boruff and I went into this one not knowing the story. It's a paranormal women's fiction what's not to like. I didn't read the synopsis and I really enjoyed every page.
Highly recommend if you want a paranormal cozy mystery. Can't wait for the next book!
When her daughter's wedding traps our heroine on an island with her ex and her nemesis at the same time, she is wishing for a way out. But a magical gemstone just might have her being more careful about her wishes. Unless the hunky pirate is part of the bargain...
This is book one of the series, so no issues there.
This is a cozy mystery with a nice dose of magic. The story is well written and easy to read with a intriguing and fun cast. The setting provides the perfect setup for our story. The story itself moves at a good pace and includes plenty of action, intrigue and lots of humor to keep things fun. Overall, I really enjoyed the start of this latest series and look forward to seeing what comes next.
Highly recommended.

Was not sure why I picked this book to read on reading first few pages as the the drama of mishaps, disasters and frustration hit me straight away and thought I was entering the cozy fun mystery PWF world of L.A. Boruff whose books I love. But glad to discover I was not disappointed after initial frustration which might be a good setting for bonding with the main character Cami as grew very quickly to love her and her magical adventure. Another series I am excited to read more of as was a lovely mix of mystery, magic, intrique, humour, enjoyable characters and good sexy romance. Looking forward to more adventures with Cami and Co.

This is another collaboration of LA Boruff, Lia Davis and Lacey Anderson.
I love the idea behind these books. In this book, we follow the story of a woman who is organising her daughters' wedding on a remote island - What can go wrong? So many things it seems.
So much humour in the observations of ex-husbands and their bit on the side, family, friends and acquaintances.
Cami takes a break and lets her ex deal for a bit - while out she comes across a lovely box and is told a tale of pirate treasure. She can't open the box at first but on waking the next day the box is open and inside is a citrine stone on a chain which she goes to wear. The adventures then begin....
Loved it and looking forward to reading more in the series.
Who is Cami? Where do we find her and what is going on? Who are Jean-Luc, Arthur, Britney, and Lorelai? What is the deal with the locked box Cami buys? When she does finally open it, what happens? What does Barbie Britney accuse Cami of? What messag edoes Arthur give to Cami? I could not help but snort at Cami's comments/thoughts about Jolene, Jolene's mother and Cami's own mother. How does Cami know Jolene? Why does Cami take charge of a pig? What happens when the pig starts following her? What does she think? I laughed when Cami's mom was asked to look after the pig. What the pig ended up named was so funny. What does happen had me in stitches in parts of this story and on the edge of my seat in others. Read and see what happens. I cannot wait for Sapphire Omens now!
I absolutely loved this book and all the crazy unexpected twists and hilarious turns. While trying to plan her daughter's dream wedding Cami is thrown into complete chaos when nothing seems to go as planned. When a sexy pirate and a Citrine jewel enter the picture things take some crazy, ott, fun, turns. This story had me completely captivated and once I started reading I didn't put it down until the last page. I definitely recommend this book and these amazing authors. Citrine Wishes is book one and a fantastic start to the Sisterhood of the Stones and I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This book will keep you smiling as Cami navigates the hazards ( the cake, the band, exp husband and new bimbo ) of her daughters upcoming wedding . On a local shopping trip, Cami purchases a mysterious box containing a golden necklace that's rumored to have been a part of a pirate's treasure. The purchase makes her unexplainable happy and things start falling into place, even getting her groove back with an island fling. Things are great until the ex goes missing and a pig shows up. What will happen? The wedding is 2 days away, the bride's father missing and the pig is in hiding.
This is a fun, fast paced book. I only wish it had been longer.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I loved the quirkiness and humor in this book. Cami wasn't having a good day as her daughter's wedding was falling apart. A trip to the market and buying a treasure box leads to very positive changes and meeting Remy. Cami and Remy are a sweet couple and I hope they continue to have a good time.
This story was a riot to read. Very light hearted take that combines wishes, an ex and his bimbo, a wedding, and a hot pirate. It all starts with a pretty necklace that leads to so many hilarious scenes that made me laugh a lot. Glued to the end to see how it would all go down and what wishes would cause the most mayhem.
This one had me giggling away to myself. Cami is struggling to organise her bridezilla daughter's daughter's wedding, in a resort that holds bad memories for her. Add in her horrendous mother in law, ex husband and his current bimbo and it makes for a witty, fast paced read. The whole pirate theme was hilarious, loved this one.
Cami has organised her daughter's wedding to be held on an island. Everything that can go wrong does.
Her ex-husband turns up with his latest bimbo.
Cami goes to the local market and buys a box which seems to be calling to her. Inside it is a necklace with a citrine stone. Whatever she wishes for happens - and some hilarious things do happen.
While parts of the story was good and there was some funny parts. But it definitely wasn’t on my spice meter. Yes there was some hint to spicy and it happening but not any details. The stairs for me had some holes but that’s just my opinion and I’m not claiming to be an expert. The book as a whole was cute.
Lying in bed with covid l really didn't need to be laughing hysterically, l could hardly breath, l had to put the book aside before l did myself an injury. Obviously l did finish and found it, aside from dangerous to my health, romantic, sweet and a wonderful spin on relationships. Looking forward to the seeing stone story. RECOMMENED AUTHOR
Adventure, romance and magic simmer together in this new set of stories structured around pirate treasures. Told with humor and heat, Citrine Wishes is a great start to this trilogy. I think it's a trilogy, at least.
I liked the pace of this book. A fun read with just enough humor and magic to keep you going. I like a book that features older women and passion without a move by move description. Quick read and very entertaining.
I really like the element of pirates in this paranormal women's mystery book! A different element I have not previously seen in L.A. Boruff's works but still enjoyable.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I finished this book in one sitting. There really wasn't another choice! This book was so much fun!!! The people were a riot and the island was a perfect setting.
What a fun book! The whole Jean-Luc as a pig thing was freaking hilarious! And pirates. I LOVE pirates. I hope there will be more adventures, this one was such fun to read.
