Flight of the Nostos – Mirrored Realities… Doctor Evan Greene was shunned by his fellow researchers as he studied colonization and how people would react to various situations. He created simulated people. He gave those simulations the ability to make choices and thus augment their own programming. Some of them have become self-aware and are questioning the reality that they are in. This was the goal of Evan’s project, to create real enough people to gain answers to how actual colonists would react. However, Tommy is different. His simulation program has grown beyond the projected capabilities of the simulation and he has become a problem for Doctor Greene. He enlists James Copeland’s help to control Tommy and to help him evolve to see what comes next. Meanwhile on the Nostos, a different brand of sabotage is underway. The prediction computer is once more assailed and this time the programs and data of the system are under attack. The problem is that it is such a secure system that nobody has had access to its internal workings for generations. Nobody knows how to program it or how to even interface with it to find the damage. If they can’t solve this problem, the approaching planet-fall is in real jeopardy. Jimmy hatches a desperate plan to place Tommy into the system and see if his auto-programming ability can save them all. Their problem is threefold. They need to identify and clean up corrupted code and data, rewrite the missing pieces of code to brings things back to working order, and to find out who is causing the damage before it becomes irreversible. It turns out the final battle for humanity may just happen inside the ancient computer. Can they get everything solved, or will the Nostos begin to break down? Only time will tell now.
