Genius Chessmaster and FBI consultant Artemis Blythe is now suspected of murder, accused of picking off competition in her upcoming tournament.
The evidence is iron clad. They have her on camera entering the room of the most recent murder victim minutes before he died.
The FBI is sent to arrest her, and Artemis is forced to flee, running to her brother—who has ties to the Seattle mob—in order to lay low. It's now a race against time for Artemis to clear her name and find the real killer before the FBI locates her.
But time spent with her twin brother yields clues to another case—the disappearance of their sister, seventeen years ago. In a shocking climax, Artemis learns once and for all: what happened to Helen? All the while tackling her most mind-bending case yet.
Having worked on projects with New York Times Bestsellers and USA Today bestsellers, Georgia Wagner recently hit #1 bestseller with her newest series. Location and character are two big factors for Georgia, and getting those right allows the story to flow seamlessly onto the page. And flow it does, because Georgia is so prolific a new term is required to describe the rate at which nerve-tingling stories find their way into print.
When not found attached to a laptop, Georgia likes spending time in local arboretums, among the trees and ponds. An avid cultivator of orchids, begonias, and all things floral, Georgia also has a strong penchant for art, paintings, and sculptures. A many-decades-long passion for mystery novels and years of chess tournament experience makes Georgia the perfect person to pen the Artemis Blythe series. That's where it all started, but the drive to craft thrilling mystery tales soon demanded new characters in new locations.
Not even sure I will read the next book. She is being an idiot and we all know Jamie is involved someway. Pretty sure at least. I love Forester but she is just not the same girl I read about in book one. Okay then the recording. If it can't be tampered with, they can just go upload the scene where the stupid imposter confessed from the secure company cloud. I thought for sure Forester would have done that before he made the call anyway. Also the door cam video. Why didn't she get that??? And they could have left the phone and called the police. Its just annoying me know. Sad too because I was really loving it. Oh well
The author could have written all of these books as a couple of books. She wastes so much space on repeating & useless tangents. So far I'm into the 5th book of the series and the author hasn't even solved crimes from several previous books. I'll be so glad when (or if) I ever finish this long, drawn out story. So much of the series is getting to be too unbelievable. As if the author just comes up with bits & pieces and tries to make them seem plausible.
The evil in some people is just shocking! As a person who uses loving patience as my life's guide, people who are pure evil and kill, as well as thrive on the torture part of the kill, simply for the thrill of it, do not deserve any lenience once they are caught. Those types of people deserve the death penalty full stop. But how does one resolve the issue of evil being an officer of the law when they cover each other's backs no matter what - even if they might not be a serial killer, but are evil nonetheless? This is the state of the world we find ourselves trapped in now and what an ugly world it is indeed. This book will leave the reader shaking their heads in shock and disgust. Food for thought. Just remember...there are loads of good people in the world, too.
I am on book 6 and have to say, I enjoy the mystery aspect of the books, but I keep waiting for Artemis to grow up and act her age.
Yes, she’s had a hard life and not able to be a normal teen/young adult. A 30 year old virgin, with no world experience other then playing chess, and hiding from her past, but judging the only person in her life who is willing to help her…has me wanting to scream. I don’t understand how not one comment has been about the crappy way she treats Forester. I have several more books to go so I’ll change my review if the author switches up her character profiles but I could not keep reading without stating this fact.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Intriguing premise and builds to the storyline, but it seems like an excerpt from a book, not a whole book. I like the friendship/relationship between Artemis and Forrester, so glad she is relying on him. Not a fan of Jamie, or their relationship, but the twist in the story was interesting. I enjoyed reading it, but it seemed I completely like a serial or novella instead of a whole story.
Artemis is about to Celebrate getting to a final stage in a chess tournament . Then she is arrested for murder . Lies? Deceit ? Pretty scary threats . Again well written , however I am still not understanding Artemis . Cameron Forester , yes . Cliffhanger , and maybe one more story after the next .
Book 5 is captivating, intriguing, wickedly engrossing. I was completely enthralled. We see a darker side of Artemis making her more human. And what happens throughout the story leads to a last chapter this is startling and completely unexpected. Very Highly Recommended.
Came across this series just recently and I am hooked! The twist and turns keep me reading chapter after chapter. Team Cameron Forester in my book!!! Continued success Georgia Wagner on the Artemis Blythe series. Can’t wait till next book!!! 👏🏻😊
Holy Crow!! Georgia Wagner just keeps getting better with every book! I couldn't put this one down. Artemis is in the worst kind of trouble. She's being accused of murder, with proof. How can that be? This was a nail biter, if I did that, that I finished in just a few hours.
I’ve been a bit ambivalent about this series but I was starting to warm up to it until the cliffhanger at the end. I will read the next book because I want to find out the resolution but I’d advise people to wait to read this until the next book is available.
Every page is a cliffhanger so fasten your seatbelts. You will not be able to stop. Georgia Wagner takes you right into the story and makes you feel like you’re right there with them!
I'm still not sure if I like the main character. Artimas is really a whiny and judgmental character. This is more like books for teenagers or younger people. Its an ok read to pass time for now.
Once again, an author that drags out a story far too long. By this book, I’m really starting to hate Artemis and just about everyone in this series. This has gone beyond suspension of disbelief. I am abandoning this series at this book. I should have done it a book or two ago.
A tense story that keeps you turning the pages to find out who is really the killer. Intriguing occurrences that make you wonder with all this technology how are they able to get away?
I felt like I couldn't read this one fast enough. At times I wanted to skip to the last chapter to see if the Helen mystery was solved. On to the next book of the series.
An interesting twist, in the plot, kept me engaged until the end. A lot of unexpected turns and twists. The characters are still interesting. On to the next.
3.5* The ending on this one! I really hope that it is discovered to be untrue in the next book. This installation wasn't quite as good as the others until the end, and it was bonkers.
A shocking, totally unexpected opening scene, followed by an even more intriguing story. As usual, Wagner produces a heart pounding, fast paced, unputdownable read. I cannot wait for the next in this series - it is pure genius!
