The Yule season can be so difficult for soulmates on opposite sides of the law…
Evander Oliphant is one of the King’s Hunters—those feared and respected enforcers of Royal Justice. When he’s handed this latest warrant right before Yule, he doesn’t expect it to be for a woman. And for certes, he didn’t expect to take one look at her and fall head-over-heels in love.
This is going to make arresting her super awkward.
All Lady Ysabel Duncan wants is to improve her clan’s morale a bit this Yule season. They’re half-starved and downtrodden, so the least she can do is give them a bit of holiday cheer. But the mysterious stranger who just dropped, half-frozen, on their doorstep is doing all of that by himself…while keeping secrets from her.
The problem is, Ysabel knows her future is tied to his. How can she expect to save her clan and her hope for a Happily Ever After once she discovers his true mission in her home? This holiday season just got a lot more ridiculous!
Warning: Yule have to accept plenty of puns (ha!), silly jokes, and particularly naughty scenes in this special holiday addition to the laugh-out-loud medieval romcom series you love!

A short delightful romance with a very good story as well as humour, strong characters, snow, puns & lots of chemistry. I devoured this lovely novella in a sitting, I loved both Evander & Ysabel who were perfect for each other & who were both felled by that bolt of lightning on their first meeting but he’s got a big secret & she wants to give her clan a good yuletide. If you love the author’s books then I recommend it, if you like a lovely romance with humour then I’d recommend it – in fact I just highly recommend it My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Wonderful story of Lady Ysabel Duncan, leader of her clan and Evander Oliphant, a King’s Hunter come to arrest her. These two are obviously made for each other, and even they know it, but the circumstances of Evander's presence in the keep is not easy to overcome. Loved these characters and all the hilarity of the clan members as well. Part of the Bad in Plaid series but can be read as a standalone.
Lady Ysabel is doing everything she can to keep her people fed. Along comes a stranger who seems like a miracle. As she falls in love with Evander the feelings are mutual. But he is hiding a secret and until he can prove Ysabel's innocence he keeps his profession a secret. When she finds out who he is things seem bleak until a real miracle comes. Funny and warm moments in a very cold keep.

Will his present mission doom the adventure of a lifetime…
Another fun addition to this series with a dash of Christmas spirit and all the inaccurate innuendos and puns you can imagine or not if you are familiar the author’s wicked humor. While this holidays tale is short and fast paced, it is cheerful, amusing and sweet. A love at first sight romance between a young woman who is longing for a companion to share her burden and a man with no real home who feels he has finally found the place to put his roots.
All should be well if he was not hiding the reason of his presence in the clan’s vicinity, so will love be enough when the truth comes out… An endearing amusing love story with two predestined lovers needing one another to look forward. 4.5 stars

I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
One Of My Favorites: Another fun story in this series. Actually, one of my favorites. I enjoyed the characters, their immediate desirous attraction, flirty banter, along with an intriguing heartfelt romance. This story has more plot than humor, but I did laugh out loud a few times. After reading the first page I was captured and engrossed. I read it in one sitting. It is fairly short but full of romance, humor, and love. The story gave me lots of enjoyment and made me feel good at the very touching ending. Special mention for the cover which depicts Ysabel character to a T, and I can't forget to mention the little pigs name which is laugh out loud and priceless. You'll have to read it to find out his name. Adult Advisory: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest opinion.
Evander and Ysabel go together like scones and jam. I enjoyed Caroline Lee’s Christmas and New Year’s themed romcom. Who else would refer to lips as flappy slabs of flesh?! I love that she shares her sense of humor with her readers.
I’m not reading a Caroline Lee romcom for a history lesson; I’m reading one of her romcoms because I want to relax and have a laugh or five or ten. She also knows how to write strong heroines who (eventually) get the hero of their dreams. Who doesn’t love reading about a rough, tough warrior groveling and trying to win back his lady?
I’m looking forward to Coira’s story. I have a feeling she’s going to fall in love kicking and screaming all the way.
I received an ARC from the author. The opinions expressed above are my own.
4.5 This one was short and sweet! Evander has always longed for home! As one of the Kings Hunters he has survived many dangerous missions! All successful until now! He is to go to Watshesed an arrest Lady Ysabel for thievery and other charges! When he is brought in from the cold half frozen he instantly falls in love and Vice versa! But secrets kept can cause this relationship to fail! When Ysabel learns the truth she feels betrayed! Can there be a HEA? Especially when her clan is almost starving from a wicked Lord’s plot! In true Olimphant fashion there is lots of humor and love as these two fall in love! Well done!
This is a wonderful short novel, maybe less hilarious than the previous books of this series, but much more romantic. Don’t get me wrong, I still laughed out loud quite a few times during the book, but undoubtedly the love story is definitely more important here and I loved this book for it. Both main characters were immediately attracted to one another, but their love grew when they discovered the kindness and the noble heart of the other. I loved the Christmas feel of the story and of course the lively writing of Caroline Lee, who’s able to bring to life every character she creates. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Evander Oliphant was one of the kings Hunters. He was given orders by the commander Drummond Kennedy to bring a woman to the king for punishment for Breech of promise, Destroying Crops,Reiving cattle per Laird Robertson.
Ysabel Duncan’s Clan was deteriorating and she wasn’t sure she was going to be able to get them out of it. When Evander gets to Castle Whatshesed he is half frozen and carried in by one of Tam’s eldest sons. She puts him next to the hearth, when they look at each other ysabel is in awe. She sees he is so handsome. Then their eyes lock on each other.
Instalove at its finest! This is a quick read and a great way to fill time while we wait to see what is happening with the Oliphant sisters. There are not as many HARD jokes that end with “‘Tis what she said” but they are still pretty good ones. The descriptions of those things you kiss with had me laughing out loud. If you are a Caroline Lee fan, the name of the castle says it all. A very enjoyable and fast paced story.
Yet another brilliant instalment of the Oliphant series.
Evander Oliphant, the Kings hunter, has never felt at home anywhere. Born a bastard with a stepmother that doesn’t want to know him, he finds it hard to know his place.
Lady Isybel Duncan’s whole life is looking after her depleting clan. Little does she know she’s wanted by the kings hunter, and not just in the bedroom!
Great read. Fabulous distraction after a hard day at work. Couldn’t wait to go to bed to continue reading! 😂
I enjoyed reading about Evander and Ysabel, how they met to how they fell in love. He was one of the King's Hunters sent to arrest Ysabel for raising havoc on another Clan, which she was on the receiving end of. Evander decided to approach as a wanderer to find out all he could of the truth. They fell for each other almost at first sight, he also helped her and her clan out from starving and freezing to death. I highly recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
Hunter/ Middle Ages detective in search of the truth
So Caroline Lee, funny, charming, interesting mystery, with well defined characters. Evander is smart, strong, brave, logical and loyal. Ysabel is beautiful but that doesn’t define her. She’s clever and loyal commanding and a bit impulsive. This is a bit of insta love, but it’s cute and Evander doesn’t lose his purpose but he stays clear headed. The story is short and the resolution is quick but satisfying. A joy to read.
A great Christmas book that works well in its own right even though it sits a little awkwardly in the Bad in Plaid series as this really deals with the daughters of William Olliphant. Here we have his illegitimate son Evander and a charming romance with Ysabel who is the strong willed leader of a small oppressed clan.
The relationship between the two is delightful, but I did wish that the book was a little longer and dealt properly with the villain of the piece and his comeuppance.
I love Caroline Lee's sense of humor and she doesn't disappoint with this book. I totally enjoyed Evander and Ysabel's story. These two fell hard at first sight and of course there were obstacles in the way. It all makes for an interesting read that I read straight through. I'm looking forward to more books in the series
I felt Evander deserved a nice long story like his sisters had. But it was a decent silly story. I loved the characters very much. Ysabel and he really were a perfect pair. I’m sure by the time Coira gets married he and Ysabel hopefully will be expecting. He was the clan’s hero. Back to my Viking stories. 🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜
Caroline Lee has become a must-read author for me, and this instalove holiday read did not disappoint. I wasn’t sure about the premise from reading the description , but I ended up loving the story. It had all the humor and heat that I’ve come to expect from her books. Don’t miss this if you’re looking for a heartwarming (but steamy) holiday romance!
Caroline Lee has written another laugh-out-loud story that brings a Hunter, Evander, and Ysabel together. The King has sent him to arrest her on a complaint from the Laird whose land is next to hers The castle Watshesed . And that's what she said !!! Oh you're gonna love this one!
A bit of humor and adventure in finding love and discovering the beauty of the holiday season. Helping restore a clan and in so doing discovering where he belongs. Great reading.
This story was so funny in places. History faith modern stuff splashed into it to make it so interesting. Ms. Lee just seems to have a gift for adding little quirks into the story that you can't wait to keep reading. Don't miss this one.
If you can understand the dialect in this book it might be enjoyable. Thought only the beginning of the story was using the dialect, but upon continuing to read, the whole book was this way. I like the smooth style of a story, not trying to figure out what the characters are saying.
A bit rowdy and pretty much a spoof on everything, but a lot of fun! I was halfway through before I figured out how to pronounce the name of the castle! A fun read!
Loved this book a I've read all in this series . Love the fun, humour and of course the naughty bits 🤣 I will keep reading as long as you me to writing !
