A gloriously spooky, mischief-packed mystery from the author of Malice in Underland Every year a Halloween Ball is thrown by the Topunders for their friends in Underland. It's a big deal - excellent gloating fodder - and every Topunder family wants the honour of hosting it. Finally, it seems as though the Malign family luck has changed; this is their year. Preparations are in full swing when the Underland Mayor is ghostnapped, throwing Underland into turmoil. Worse is to come when the mayor is discovered in the Malign oubliette. It is down to Malice, Seth and Uncle Vex to prove Ma and Pa's innocence and bring the real culprits to justice. If they don't, it will be more than just the Halloween Ball in ruins...

I live with my husband in a small seaside town in England; our son's have grown up and flown the nest but come home for holidays.

I write middle-grade children's books and Adult fiction (under the name Jenny Bayliss).

Malice in Underland is my debut children's novel.

I was a baker for many years and still love to make cakes and of course eat cakes!

After a days writing I like to cook and listen to an audiobook, I find the act of chopping and preparing food, while someone reads me a story, deeply relaxing.

I enjoy walking and reading (though not at the same time) and gardening. I love spending time with my family and eating chocolate and if I can do both those things at once, then I am a happy woman.

Malice is the best of her family, the smartest and the kindest. when her ma and pa are in trouble she goes to all lengths to help them out of danger. we get to see more of her younger sister in this book, and she is very reminiscent of Sunny Boudilere. I think they could take over the world together if they really wanted. chomp chomp

Looooovvved being back with Malice, Seth, Uncle Vex & allIll the amazing cast of characters in this incredibly imaginative & atmospheric world (above & below lol). This is the 3rd in the series so can't say much. But I loved the mystery of this 1, & I love how much Uncle Vex has come to depend on Malice with cases, & even Seth. You'd never guess Seth wasn't like them, the way he loves all the disgusting, unusual, & spooky things so much. He & Malice have such a great friendship dynamic, & they just make me smile so big. We get a little sister with sharp teeth on the adventure this time, & I thoroughly enjoyed that. I loved the big focus on family to this one especially, since it's not what you would normally think of when you think of her family. It was so heartwarming seeing how Malice's parents have grown so much, & seeing that the really do love her & their whole family so incredibly much. They've even begun to accept Seth! Who woulda thought?! Lol. Such a great mystery adventure with ghosts, witches, ghostnapping, riddles, so much more. Love the gothic Addams Family type vibes with these. So atmospheric each time. Was smiling ear to ear with the ending. HIGHLY recommend. Hopefully still more to come, love these so much. BEAUTIFUL cover by Hannah Peck, & full of beautiful illustrations inside as well.💜

I was nervous with this book being quite a bit longer than the first two, but it did not drag at all. We got more of Malice and all of the characters I grew to love in the first two books. A mystery with crumbs along the way and riddles.

I am sad to be done the series. This renewed a love of MG books.
