What a weird book. I feel like the story ended where it was supposed to be at the midpoint of the plot.
Sometimes, by the end of a story, you can kinda see what the author is trying to say or tell, some morals of the story (sometimes) but in this one, I was kinda lost. I don't really understand what the story is, the romance is. The ambiguity of the whole plot is so unsatisfying.
I don't like either of the main characters. They are both terrible in their own way. The romance is almost nonexistent. If you love a romance story in that the chemistry SOLELY hinges on the mating bond, then you might like this one. These two people literally have nothing in common.
I feel dead inside while reading this. The only good part I would point out would be the initial 10% of the book. Because that was the part of the book where I still had the highest hope that this book would be good.

The plot was okay... but it needs a very good edit.
It was a fun read and I enjoyed it. However there were plotholes, rushed situations, flat characters etc... also the fact that the mute FMC, is only mute for a second there was weird.

The MMC is a toxic manipulator. The way he was gaslighting the FMC and controlling her is so disgusting. I hated him with passion. The mute representation sucked. The FMC was supposed to be mute because she mentally can’t do it. We just ignored that fact entirely and she just started talking out of no where without explaining why she started or why she stopped in the first place. The brother was also disgusting. If my brother has abandoned me to be one of the people who made me starve and work myself to the bone at the young age of six then and in top that he completely forgot about me and I thought he was dead MOURNED him while he was living his best life with his mate and kids !!!! His defense was “ I was scared because you hated werewolves so I couldn’t come “ the man abandoned his little sister and family to be with the race who are starving humans , whipping them and enslaved them !!!!
Neither her brother nor the MMC feel an ounce of regret or respect the FMC’s wishes. The MMC basically made her forgive and talk to the traitor she still considers brother.

This was a nice read. Werewolves are the rulers of earth and Vincenzo is the alpha king looking and longing for his mate. Though his mate is human and a werewolf hater, he does everything he can to win her over. Drama laced in between all that 😉. If paranormal romance is your thing, you should definitely check this out. This was the book I needed with the mood I have been in
I enjoyed the pacing a little on the quick side but I didn’t want anything long
No spice and I wasn’t mad think it didn’t need it entirely as the couple needed to get to know one another and she was very traumatized

Read it for the romance and well…werewolves but it had zero romance. Almost seemed like the author was venturing into WattPad territory with this book. Huge inconsistencies like the heroine having breakfast and then going on a tour of the living quarters only for it to be dinner time by the end of the tour. I mean how big was the place lol? A lot of “You hurt her and I’ll kill you” scenes but the story and the writing..yikes!

If I could give this negative stars I would. I saw a snippet on Facebook and said “oh that sounds really cute”. I was wrong and I hate past Ashley for doing this to me. Mama didn’t raise a quitter so I finished it and I have no words.
Actually, I have many.
We meet Everly who is mute and we find out that 200 years ago humans were overthrown and enslaved by werewolves because when humans found out about them they maybe killed some and… idk?? ITS NEVER EXPLAINED. Anyway, Everly is picked to go to the Alpha’s palace but she can’t communicate because nobody but one random girl knows sign language. They allow Claire (said random girl) to go with her and then they go to the palace and are immediately split up (I THOUGHT CLAIRE HAD TO STAY WITH HER TO TRANSLATE?) and she’s taken to the office while Claire fucks off. She gets yelled at by a guy named Beta Shane and then she cleans and is forced to go home.
We learn that humans are beaten and abused and starved and she is living in a tiny hovel that could collapse at any moment. She’s been home for a whopping 5 seconds and the palace guards are beating down her door. For SOME REASON she decides to hit one with a baseball bat (where did she get this?) and take off into the woods. They find her and beat her and take her to Alpha Vincenzo and he’s pissed that she’s hurt. He ends up banishing the guy who hurt her to the dungeon and then asks her name, when she says it Beta Shane (WHO JUST SAW HER LIKE AN HOUR AGO) gasps and goes “that’s my sister”.
Roll the fucking credits.
We find out that like 9 years ago (btw he left when she was 6 and at the end of the book we find out that she’s 20. THE MATH ISN’T MATHING) he was walking too close to the palace or something and the Alpha told him he wasn’t allowed to leave so Shane, in return, said “I don’t wanna be the outlier, change me” and then just left his sister and family. Later in the book he tells Everly that he didn’t come back for her, even though BOTH of their parents are dead, because she’s always hated werewolves (these people are slaves btw, AND SHE WAS SIX??) so he left her alone and never looked for her, but he wouldn’t change a thing because he has a mate and four kids now. WHAT?! The absolute betrayal is astronomical and the entire book is literally just Shane and Vincenzo gaslighting her into thinking it’s totally fine he left and to just forgive him, SO SHE DOES?
Anyway, Vincenzo takes her to his room and cleans her up and tries to give her blood but she says no (spoiler alert, he fucking forces it down her throat to heal her) and then he tells her they are mates (doesn’t explain what that is because she’s also illiterate and can’t read or write or speak) and then immediately tells her to go with his mother who is deaf because of some stupid rogue plot that didn’t make any fucking sense that we literally never talk about again. The next day she wakes up in a different room after randomly falling asleep on him and READS A NOTE HE LEFT FOR HER? SHE CANT READ? That’s like a HUGE plot point in this godforsaken book. LIKE UP UNTIL THE END SHE HAS TROUBLE WITH READING.

A bunch of random inconsequential things happen where Everly is firmly on team “I hate werewolves and I don’t like being a slave and I’ll never love him”, and then we FINALLY get to see what Claire has been up to for the last 3 days and she tells Everly that everyone thought she died and somehow she has knowledge of what mates are and then breezes past the fact that she didn’t even try looking for Everly when she went missing? The next day Claire tells Everly that she wants to do something fun and there just so happens to be a waterfall by the palace but Everly was explicitly told not to go outside without a guard, so Claire guilt trips her and says she’s not a “true friend”… Everly then goes to the waterfall and slips into a cavern and almost dies and Vincenzo is furious and then Everly is somehow okay even thought she damaged her spine and fell really far, but she just needs to take it easy for like a week. Claire is given community service or something stupid and we NEVER SEE HER AGAIN?
Like two days later Shane forces her to meet his family and then takes her for ice cream and some random werewolf rogue says he doesn’t like they she’s the Alphas mate and then he’s taken down by one of the guards and she goes home. A few days after that she begs Vincenzo to go outside and he says yes but only if she takes a guard, she does and then they run into a pack of young boys who are bullying another boy. She intervenes and then one of them slaps her but immediately starts apologizing and says they were just “trying to test her” to see if she’d be a good Luna. Vincenzo is furious, almost kills this child and then Everly calls him out and says he can’t harm the child and that if he wants to whip him, she’ll that the punishment. He gets pissed and leaves, so she runs after him and she apologizes like a million times and then they hug it out.
A few days later she goes into town with like four guards (ONE OF THEM BEING MARCO WHO SHE HAS HAD AS A GUARD MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEN RANDOMLY DOESNT REMEMBER HIM?) where she wants to buy stuffed animals for the orphanage but then doesn’t because she realizes she doesn’t have any money and then finds a lost little girl and when she finds the mother tells her they should be friends and to bring the little girl around for chocolate covered strawberries.
More time passes that we are like not included in, and then Vincenzo proposes and the epilogue is SHE TURNS INTO A FUCKING WEREWOLF?? And they randomly live in a house he built for her and they are having twins because she’s pregnant.
Oh, and all throughout the story she was advocating for better treatment of humans (kind of) and Vincenzo was against it the whole time saying if he gave the humans an inch, they would revolt and they deserved to be where they were (MIND YOU ITS BEEN 200 YEARS? NO ONE FROM THE TIME IS STILL ALIVE EXCEPT WEREWOLVES, I GUESS. THATS NOT REALLY EXPLAINED EITHER) so we never find out if the humans getting better treatment or if she abandoned her venture when she became friends with the other werewolves and then became one herself.
She also starts talking like halfway through the book?? SHE’S MUTE?!
Also, there is no romance. They cuddle when she’s in mortal danger and randomly throughout the story (even when she hates him, which is confusing) and then she tells him she loves him while she’s running to the market and that’s it. There’s no tender moment, no dates, no small gestures, no deep talks, no character development when he realizes he’s wrong and lets the humans go, NOTHING. IT WAS ALL NOTHING. A GIANT BOWL OF NOTHING.

DNF! Very childish and repetitive,didn't make sense at times,she's mute,then talks,she falls asleep with first reading lesson of a children's book but next morning reads a note from Vinny.

I was instantly hooked and obsessed with this book. This is EXACTLY my type of story and I absolutely loved it. I binged it so fast and couldn't stop reading, then immediately went on to read both of Chloe Elizabeth's other wolf books.
I absolutely loved Vincenzo and the way he treats Evelyn. The way he cares for her, helps her heal and slowly gains her trust was so beautifully written. I also loved the mute FMC representation and how beautifully Evelyn's background and trauma were handled. Her character development was everything, especially watching her slowly embrace her confidence and stand up for herself.
I loved the whole universe where wolves rule the world and how Evelyn fights for human rights and tries to make things better for them. The romance was definitely more of a slow burn because it took Vincenzo time to gain Evelyn's trust but honestly, I wouldn't change a thing. It was written so beautifully and made their relationship feel so much more meaningful.
There is no spice in this book at all and honestly, I didn't mind one bit because the plot was so good and satisfying on its own. The ending was also deeply satisfying and left me very happy.
My favourite moment was when Evelyn started embracing her confidence and stood up to Vincenzo and when she protected the kid who had accidentally hurt her. I absolutely loved seeing how much she'd grown.
If you love paranormal romance, werewolves, mate bonds, a soft and kind-hearted FMC with a history of abuse and trauma and an MMC who helps her heal, then you NEED to read this one.

It has the bones of a good read… but needs some editing and major plot holes fixing.
I also think for a “paranormal romance”… it really was missing the romance bit… there was no wooing, or romancing or dating… her brother took her on more of a date than her “mate” did. It was just “oh we’re fated mates. Now that you’ve smelled me and my sheets, you will enjoy hugging me. Yay - now we’re in love”. It was very weird. I am wondering if AI had a hand in writing the book, as it’s giving “I have never been in love and don’t understand how relationships develop”.
And the FMC literally went from being mute to chatting to every Tom, Dick and Harry.
And couldn’t read at all… but could read a note about her bedroom and going shopping…
And her BFF turning out to be a manipulator… really didn’t track with the girl who had presumably learned sign language fluently in order to communicate with the mute FMC and translate for her! That’s quite a time and effort commitment to then be willing to throw away a friendship for the sake of seeing a waterfall 😅
All in all a disappointing experience. Don’t waste your time.

The overall writing and storyline were ok but there were things that were too normalized for me to get over. Her and her mate obviously have lifestyle differences that they cant help and they work through, which is understandable. Also we know from the start humans are treated very poorly. What really got me is the fact that the King doesn’t care. In fact, he wants it to be this way and is against any change even when he sees how his own mate has suffered. It makes it hard to like him at all. I kept waiting for her to tell him more and more about her life, and for him to be shocked and DO SOMETHING, but he is just like “nothing will happen to you know I wont let it.” Sir, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you are the reason for all this, because you are the literal king and can do whatever. We do see a slight shift in willingness to help humans, but nowhere near where it should be. I understand people don’t change overnight and I wasn’t expecting that, what I would have liked is for some serious self reflection on his part as well as taking some responsibility.

worth the read
I loved the idea of a woman being mute being the leaders woman. But there are some big issues with the story that bugged me. One she is miserable and a feeble heroine. Two she dose not know how to read but the leader leaves her a detailed note next to her bed which she reads with no problem even though in the chapter before we are told she only knows her alphabet and as never been shown how to read. Three I hate weak woman and she was made weak by her circumstances in her life.
And if she’s mute why dose she start talking half way through the book never explained. The first chapters were hard to read as she was so weak-willed and afraid of everything. But the ending was good and her man/leader was a good man. So overall try to read it for a different interpretation on a Wolf story.

Terrible. This was like reading the first draft of a Creative Writing 101 assignment. The plot rambled. It needed an editor. The first chapter heading said “Michael” when it was actually Everly’s POV. Who is Michael? There’s no character in the book by that name. Dialog was awkward and didn’t sound natural. Everly is mute and can’t read. But a couple pages later she wakes up and reads a note from Vincenzo. And she takes a couple reading lessons and suddenly she’s talking and reading. She’s one dimensional. Good, kind, naive, innocent, saintly.

i liked the premise but not the execution of the book. the MMC pissed me off by constantly asking the FMC if she wanted to do something, and then blatantly ignored her no, over and over and forced her to do it anyway. as does the brother. i was expecting better from mr. Fated Mate.
i feel like a bunch of context/detail is missing in the story. she was mute then not all of a sudden with no explanation or even a comment/conversation between the main characters. what happened with the guard? what happened with the friend?
Overall I enjoyed it but I won’t be reading it again.

It was a nice story
It’s a hard balance to get, the mute scared girl and the powerful alpha. Unfortunately there were a lot of bits in this book that it felt he was treating her like a 5 year old rather than an adult. I also didn’t get how she was mute to the point of having to use sign language and then just suddenly talks.
All in all it was a nice story and entertaining, just felt it could have been more.

This books was very meh. The plot wasnt really there and the romance was insta-love. The main male character wasnt even trying. He just kept expecting her to insta-love him (even more than insta-love is), do whatever he says or wants, and expects someone who hates werewolves to like/love them again. The female character goes from being mute to talking as if she never was mute. She goes from hating werewolves to liking/loving them.

Read the book. Enjoyed parts, but felt it could have done with a good read through by an editor. A lot of the writing at then was young/immature, in comparison to the storytelling at the beginning.

I liked this book, but I feel like it was waaay to rushed.
Like it started out really good, but nothing was properly explained to Evy and she was just going along with everything and suddenly knowing things.
I liked how she made Vinny better and how he was instantly smitten. There as just a lot of missing plot and rushed events.
I would have loved to maybe go more into detail about the whole werewolf stuff and how they operate.
But overall it was enjoyable

Familiar plot
This book has a similar storyline to a werewolf book I’ve read before. I forgot the title of that book but the FL was also mute. Humans were slaves of werewolves. Most of the incidents in this book were the same from what I have read before.. It made me think that this author has based her story to the same book.

Good
This was a really good read. It sucked me in from page one. The characters are developed mostly. Towards the end there was some points where the character Marco was treated as it was her first meeting yet they have been around each other weeks prior. Then the last few chapters seem rushed the ending was abrupt for me personally. Still a really great read tho.

May 25, 2023It was engaging at first, but as I keep reading I couldn't quite connect with the characters. Also, I think it lacked something but I don't know what it was, it felt odd.
I hoped for a different story, unfortunately, this one was just a disappointment.

I loved this book! Super quick read and kept my attention the whole time. I loved the dynamics between Everly and Vincenzo and the fact that she was able to overcome what she did to have the life she did at the end. Would absolutely recommend to others for a quick read with a HEA.

book title isn’t completely true
I was excited to read a book with representation, but the FMC is able to talk, and does for at least half the book, and stops using ASL entirely, which was disappointing….

Cute and simple
An easy read with fast progression and a cute ending. A nice light read with a very entertaining internal monologue from the main character. It felt like it had lots of time jumps or progression faster than natural but still enjoyable

nothing happens
This was starting off really good but nothing actually happens , like there is really not much of anything happening. Closed door, I don’t think we even see them kiss until max 90%. Just super boring.

It’s a good book with good ideas, the character growth is good, the wording in parts feels like a Wattpad read. The author has good ideas just struggles with phrasing it smoothly, but a good read.

The idea would be okay but many things do not make sense. For example, she cannot read, yet at the beginning of the next chapter she reads a note perfectly. I tried to just enjoy the story, but unfortunately, there are too many inconsistencies.
