The only thing more dangerous than the Wildness is the dark fae lord that controls it.
Too bad by the time Aurra learns this, it’s already too late.
Abused, mistreated, and neglected by the human parents who kept her true nature a secret, no one is more surprised than Aurra when the fae show up on her doorstep to sweep her away to a new life.
Shiel, Zev, and Finch—three golden-haired warriors from the Western Court. They swear to protect Aurra at all costs, to carry her to safety where she can learn what it is to be fae.
More than just any fae, however.
They say she’s the true heir to the kingdom, a changeling switched at birth to protect her from the fae lords who would want to control her and the humans who would want to harm her.
They warn her of the sweeping Wildness, the vast fae forests ruled by a lord perverted by a glamour so powerful that no one dares contend with him.
Icarus—Lord of the Wildness. The Dark Fae of the Forest.
There’s a problem with their warning, however.
That dark fae lord, that winged creature of terrible beauty, already knows Aurra … intimately.
Only one thing is certain in Aurra’s new world. No one is to be trusted, not even herself.
The Court The Fae Forgot is a slow burn (but extra spicy) dark enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance with multiple love interests, hidden powers, handsome dark-haired villains … and most importantly, only one bed at the inn.
The entire series will be rapid releasing monthly between November 2022-March 2023.
I was lucky enough to be introduced to “The Court the Fae Forgot” before its official release. In Analeigh Ford and Sabrina Thatcher’s newest book series, we follow Aurra who is trapped in her miserable human life with terrible, abusive human parents. But thanks to some fae, that might be about to change!
This story, and its beautifully written descriptive language, pull you along in a fast paced, cliffhanger way. At the end of every chapter, I needed to read more. I was pulled in with all of the vivid language used and the constant twists and turns. By the end of book one, I didn’t know which fae I was falling for.
If I had a complaint, it would be the beginning of the book sprinting with a start that I struggled to follow. The preface and chapter one are the only ones with limited detail and choppy writing. Don’t let it deter you! I was confused and searching for answers, but my impatient self got them.
If I like fae stories, YA with a bit of cinnamon spice, and the lore that comes with the fae… I suggest this book. I’m really intrigued to find out where the story leads, and I will continue this series.
3.8 stars??? it took me about 50% of the book to be really interested but now im invested in the series so stay tuned!!! it definitely gives acotar vibes but it wasn’t what i was expecting.
This was a fun, easy read. I’m torn between 3.5 to 4 stars.
It’s my first time reading a YA/NA why choose romance (usually I stick to adult) so I’m super intrigued. This was definitely a slow burn on the romance but you did get to meet each of the love interests and get a hint of the growing heat and tension. I’m a sucker for a morally grey male so I can’t wait to see what happens with Shiel, and also Icarus too. Nothing truly spicy happened yet but I’m hopeful for more as we get further along in the series!
I can’t tell if I like Aurra or not yet… I liked that she was self-sufficient and didn’t take any shit but I also hate brats and she felt like one a little bit.
The mystery of it all was pretty well written but drove me absolutely nuts because it basically made me not trust anyone 😂 I have so many questions and can’t wait to discover all the twists and turns. I definitely need to know more about the Wildness, the royals, the glamour… Not a lot was explained or answered in book 1.
The ending was a subtle cliffhanger. It left enough of a mystery to have you wanting the next book asap but wasn’t the kind of cliffhanger that makes you throw your e-reader at the wall 😂 so for now, I’ll wait patiently for book 2.
I had the honor of getting to dive into this new world before it was released! I can’t say enough about this book! Fantastic world building, fast pace in all the right places and 4 fae men I can’t decided between?! The set up for the next books leaves you wanting more without feeling like you’ll die without it! I’ve never read such well written cliffhangers! Each time I went to set the book down to be productive with my life, the last few sentences of the chapter would have me saying, “well one more chapter won’t hurt!”
My only qualm if that there isn’t as much dialogue between the characters as I’d like, it’s a lot more world building but with this world it is necessary!
This book was a total snoozefest. The writing felt juvenile, and both the world-building and character descriptions were terrible - I still have no idea what the female main character even looks like.
There was barely any dialogue between the characters, which made it hard to connect with anyone. As for the FMC, I have no thoughts because she’s completely forgettable and lacks any personality.
The so-called smut scene? It came out of nowhere and felt totally unearned.
This was the first book in this series (?) and it was amazing. I love that it’s in the same world as the last series I read by Analeigh Ford. The characters are well written. The action is well paced. The plot sucked me right in.
Aurra- Long Lost Fae Princess maybe Ada- Human- Aurra Sister(fake) Icarus- Fae- Lord of the Wildness Lord(s?) of the Westen Court Shiel- Fae- Lord Finch- Fae- Zev- Fae- Queens Sword- Fox/Bear
Thoughts:
So the storyline that I read is intriguing but I'm also super confused after reading this book. Like there's a lot going on in this book they don't really explain it though. For instance like a changeling they never actually tell you what that means. Also the excuse that her being a Fay and a changeling are the reason why her A fake parents were so mean to her doesn't make sense either considering they got all the things like the mill and all of that for swapping out their daughter for her Aurra. Like that with the case they could have just got rid of her like they were talking about marrying her off they could have just done that years before. Also not exactly sure what court all of them belong to. I'm not sure if it's the Western court that they belong to and Speil is the Lord of the Western court & they were heading to the summer court. I would of rated this a 4 but with the unclear situation and grammar issues i rated it a 3 but will be continuing with the next book.
Synopsis:
Aurra along with her sister Ada went with their parents who are millers to market day to pass out all the flour. Mom tells her to watch out for strangers what she tells her every single time. In the village she runs into a fae when she notices they both react to a loud noise that hurts their head. Then she notices he has a necklace on & she can read what it says eventho its written in the fae language. The Fae (Sheil) asks her what have you done and he gets back in this carriage and leaves. ( Later in the book you find out that the glamour has come back? & thats what they felt) She goes to tell her mom who tells her to run home which is like half a days journey on foot. She walked into the wood and meets a Dark Fae(Icarus) who is Lord of the wildness. He told her that they were connected & that their fates were intertwined. On this journey home she had a Fox (Zev) steal her change purse. She had a ribbon tied around it from her baby blanket. They use this to determine that Aurora might be the long lost princess of the Queen who they believe had been changed out for someone else as Aurra maybe a changeling. You follow them on a journey to another court where they want to determine who Aurra is. There is a back story about how her not father was going to sell her to the Raynor owner of the stables and not a good person. She feels somewhat connected to all 4 of the lords and Sheil tells her she needs to watch out as some of the lords will try & use her. Towards the end of the book They are running from a village they were staying in and they have to run Into the Woods where they stumble upon Icarus. He invites them to stay in the wildness for a bit and tells them that the Oracle has waken up who should be able to tell Aurra who she is. Icarus and Aurra do not tell the other fae that they know each other but he plays it off by calling her the lost one which is what he did at their 1st meeting. Icarus does mention Spiel is a Lord & by his reaction he did not want aura to know and now she feels like he is trying to use her for some reason too so she does not believe him anymore. Then the book pretty much owns. There were bits and pieces of the book where you can see that everyone is forming a relationship with each other like Zev who had Aurra retrace all of his tattoos as they were fading/healing because they got their glamour back. The one on his chest was actually Aurra name.

Sorry to any one who liked this, but this wasn't for me. Full spoilers ahead!
This book felt like it should have been the first part of a book and felt like it should have been cut down. There really isn't much of an inciting incident until like 60% when some fae show up and tell our main character that she is the lost fae princess.
The writing was super contradictory on itself - ESPECIALLY with the main character. The main character will hurt but then not hurt (but then hurt again when it was convenient). She'll think she's fae, and then say she's human, and then say she's fae. This happens with pretty much everything the main character encounters. The writing is also not very detailed and leaves a lot out. This causes any plot, worldbuilding, or characters to be words on a page and nothing that I could connect to.
Plot wise we barely do anything. We get the main character selling flour in town, then are told she worked at the mill for months to escape. And then she decided she didn't want to escape and leave her sister. Then these fae come by and tell her to come with them because she's fae. And she's also met a mysterious dark fae in the Wildness (magical forest right next door).
Most of this book could have been cut and it would literally be the same story. Lots of the scenes pretty much mean nothing, and it felt like some things like our FMC's trauma was there for shock value. I think this might end up as a why choose in the future based on how the fae are described, but I don't know for sure. This story felt just really bland and boring, and I struggled to find anything good to keep me invested. I was curious where this was going/how bad it would get so I finished it.

This is one of the worst books I’ve read in a while. The only reason I finished it is because this was the book I downloaded to read on a plane and I had literally nothing else to do.
First, for being so short, it took a very long time for the story to get going. The fae don’t meaningfully enter the story until the 50% mark. Literally the first half of the book is just the FMC getting bullied by her family and just kind of… taking it? It’s very weird, she has no backbone or depth whatsoever. The second half of the book is just confusing. No clear main love interest, which is fine, but also it’s not super clear why they have to stay hidden. Also, she’s supposed to be fae royalty but she’s still being bossed around and treated like a second class citizen. There is no depth to the FMC, there’s no clear plot, the author spends a long time (50% of the book) creating the human world only for Aurra to leave it, and almost zero time building the fae world which is, theoretically, where the story should be taking place. It was just… bad.
The Court the Fae Forgot A Court of Thieves and Traitors #1 Fantasy Eden Beck, Sabrina Thatcher ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I enjoyed reading this book. The pacing was really good and I'd like to know more about the Fae and their courts but I think that will be explored more as the series continues. I think the world building could be more detailed/developed a bit more.
The writing style at the beginning of the book was a little choppy and it made me confused sometimes. I found myself going back a page or two to double check if I had missed something.
I liked how Aurra met each of the Fae that came to take her away and their introductions. They were well described and they all had their own individual personalities..
I didn't like how Aurra never gets any answers to simple questions, and if she does they are so vague that they don't help at all.
The ending was very sudden, which I wasn't keen on but that being said, it has made me curious enough to want to read the next book.
I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy read (for fantasy). The world building wasn’t too mind boggling to understand and I didn’t have to reread any chapters to understand 😂 Book 1 left a lot to be answered in the coming books so I’ll be excited to pick those up as they release. There was a touch of spice included and we were introduced to all the fae men (swoon). But no real relationships have been set in stone yet and a lot of questioning has been happening so it’s very hard to know who to trust and what is going to happen. I like Aurra’s character at the moment. I like that she speaks her mind, she can perform under pressure, but we are only just scratching the surface of her personality I feel. All in all, a great book and I can’t wait for no 2!

This book kept me interested to the very end. It felt more like a novella. Things moved at a glacial pace before it would move on to a new point of action. Even though I felt like it was slow moving, I did enjoy reading the fmc point of view. I read about her painful life, the abuse, and it broke my heart for her. I read one bad omen coming true to the next bad omen happening. Her meeting the guys and the exit of a horrible future by leaving with them. Travelling and the nerves of travelling by the Wildness forest. Finding out she’s met and travelled with more than one Lord. She’s finally starting to understand the gravity of her true presence in the world. I can’t wait to read more.
Analeigh Ford (Edan Black) has once again created a world you can’t help but just jump into and want more. Aurra is a loveable character with an enticing story. Her hard life sets the scene for the start of her journey. I’m looking forward to seeing her adventure continue and her character continue to grow into the strong heroine figure.
The first book of this series has the right amount of spice that will no doubt get more intense in book two. With three gorgeous golden Fae and one dark, beautiful Fae🌶🫠
Dive into this story like I did, and let the world take over. It’s raw, powerful and it’s only the beginning.
This 👏🏼 has 👏🏼 the 👏🏼 tropes!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 “Touch her and you die” is also…. Touch her sister and you die!!! One bed….. one tent?!? The beautiful golden hair Fae(s)!!! The dark and mysterious Fae 🥰 This was captivating from the very first chapter. I will say though, make SURE you check trigger warnings. This has a lot of very descriptive scenes of abuse. It makes the story that much better though to see what the main character has gone through her entire life. I HIGHLY recommend this book and I cannot wait for the next ones to come out!! Luckily Analeigh is quick at spitting them out and we don’t have to wait long!
So I gave the spice rating that I did because of the build up that happened. I think it’s well executed and the authors are staying true to their characters with the decisions that were made
I took away one star because it did feel a little rushed in the beginning. This book is fast paced, but the beginning did seem to rush past a little quicker.
I love love love the imagery in this book. I love the language used and the descriptive words. That’s what drew me in, was the way the authors described everything while keeping an emotional element to it as well.
If you’re on an sjm hangover I highly recommend this book
So this was a DNF for me. The FMC irritated me to no end and I couldn’t deal with the fact with how spineless she was. She worried for everyone else aside from herself when everyone around her was causing her harm or doing some wrong to her. Even her sister. I get it, she had a big heart but I’m sorry there’s only so much I could deal with as far as being treated like trash. And she continues to let it happen. The the fae all of a sudden come and rescue her when she’s about to die? Like really? After not being present for. A majority of what’s been going on. I’m sorry I live Fae fantasy but this one missed the mark for me.
I wish it was a little longer. I know the next two books are out and I do plan to read them, but this first book could’ve been so much more than it was. It feels rushed, and by the time the MC declares she fully trusts(and almost sleeps with every single one of) her three companions, we still know next to nothing about them. If the book had been twice as long, it might have been twice as good. There is so much potential! The language is beautiful, the story is engaging, and at times it gets surprisingly dark(for a romance, anyway). I’m still excited to continue the series, and perhaps I’ll love it by the time I’m done.
Well…she’s only gone and done it again!!! I love Analeigh Fords writing style and this is my first book under her pen name ‘Eden Beck’ and once again she does not disappoin. This is a brilliant Fae based story (my favourite) and one I was gripped from the beginning with. You are immersed into the story and the setting from page one and it really feels like you’re the main character. I cannot wait for the second instalment and I know this is going to be a firm favourite series of mine!! Thank you for sending me it Analeigh, you’re a superstar!
This book started off quite promising as the plot seemed engaging. However the TSTL moments that the heroine kept piling up just killed the plot. Unless of course the aim was to have a main character that couldn't put one foot in front of the other. There is a running theme of her and her ankle...
The frustration here is we are told time and again the forest is dangerous, take a wild guess where the heroine runs off to every time. By the end the heroine and her whining really killed it for me.
I got the privilege of reading The Court The Fae Forgot before it was released. I am new to reading Fae, but I ate this book up!
The building of the world was done beautifully and it was easy to jump right into. The book is fast-paced and it had me turning pages and not wanting to put it down.
From taking the journey through Aurra's hard life, to being introduced to four gorgeous fae, Analeigh Ford had me hooked!
It leaves us with a mild cliffhanger and I am already waiting for book two of this series!
It does contain some 🌶 and be sure to check your trigger ⚠️!!
This book started off slow. It was hard to understand what was going on when they were at the market. As slow as the book started, they’re needed to be more attention to the world building.
I also found the little sister annoying and very immature for an 11 year old. She keeps wandering off in the market, is always being dramatic at the wrong times, and just has no idea how to behave.
The story picks up when Aurra leaves home. I imagine the next book will be more exciting and the world building will grow.
I truly truly wanted to like this book. I read reviews about how amazing it was and how lucky people were they got to read it before it was available.
Does this author not have an editor? Someone to proofread?
The amount of grammatical errors, run-on sentences, syntax errors was astounding.
It’s supposed to be a “smutty” book but it only has one scene that could be called smut. Zero connection between characters and they just get a hard on? C’mon!
I finished the book just because I don’t like leaving books midway but will definitely not be picking up the rest of the series.
eh.. It was pretty good, but it felt very rushed. I'm kind of inlove with Zev, also SHIELS REACTIONS ARE AMAZINGGGGG I love shiel so much, he has a special place in my heart. also when they were on horseback and *finch i think?* did the lil snip snip hand gesture when she asked what the fuck shiel did? fucking amazing. now add the whole "im a very determined person" thing with shiel, ONTOP OF THE CUDDLING IN THE TENT? and then the whole tattoo thing with Zev? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA the romance is amazing, just the whole world building and plot was rushed. still good tho!!

It was an okay read. Some parts interesting, some parts boring. Nothing felt that special or memorable to me.
It took a while to set up the plot and that part dragged on a bit too much for me.
The characters lack depth for me, especially Aurra. Icarus is the only character I want to know more about, and the only reason I'll try reading the second book. Aurra acts like an idiot sometimes. She is a 18 year old so I guess it's to be expected of her to make stupid decisions.
I'm hoping the next book will be more interesting now that the plot has been set.
I had the pleasure of being sent an ARC of this new saga by Analeigh Ford. It does not disappoint! As intriguing as her previous series, which was a reverse harem also in a fae world. This book started off darker and you really felt sorry for the MC. Especially by being told not to bring down further scandal upon her family.
There are similarities if you have read her previous fae series, however, I still thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thank you to these talented authors for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This book has such an interesting start that I was pulled in from the start! I was turning pages so fast that the ending surprised me! I can’t wait to find out more about Aurra and where this journey takes her with Icarus, Finch, Sheol and Zev! If you’re looking for a book that pulls you in and has fae this is the book for you!
It was easy to read, but was hoping for spice and it was maybe two paragraphs in the entire book with it being a level one spice considering the books I’ve previously read with fae. I read through really quickly and was disappointed how fast the book came to an end even though it will carry on into the next. Saw the author advertised that her books had a lot of spice, but from another book series I read from her, it was lacking there as well.
