2.5⭐️ Just okay in my opinion.

I personally didn’t care for the back and forth mood swings in Ivan with his feelings for Cilla. I LOVE possessiveness in a man but not so much in him for some reason. Even Cilla was just alright. One minute she’s letting everyone walk all over her and the next she has a backbone.. but not for very long. She reverts right back to letting people do whatever they want without regard to her own feelings.

Bound to Deception is a dark read with some parts that might be a trigger to some folks. So be warned!

Cilla (FMC Priscilla) and Ivan have a complicated and somewhat twisted relationship from the outset. Cilla is a pawn to be used by her sly, underhand and manipulating father who he uses how he sees fit. If its by using her as a human guinea pig to using brute force to get her to use her body for his own personal gain. Ivan gets dragged into Cilla's fathers game by using her to ensnare him by any means necessary including drugs. Which starts off a tempestuous dynamic between the both of them where there is very little trust to begin with but gradually they become reliant on one another.

This is a great read for people that like their books darker, violent with emotional parts but also with a bit of heart too. I really liked Cilla's & Ivan's story and i liked that other characters from The Doubeck Crime Family series popped up in this book. A killer read

Cillia finds herself living a life that no one should have to endure and the only way to escape the future her father has planned for her is to follow his demand. The only problem is that it includes going against a powerful and dangerous man who won’t react well if he finds out her true intentions.

Ivan is a man who is loyal to those he cares about and a force to be reckoned with for those who are against him. After learning what Cillia had planned for him he should despise her and ensure that she can never strike again however he is about to realize that there is much more to the situation than first appears.

Cillia is so much stronger and resilient than even she knows especially with Ivan at her side as he evolves from threat to protector and shows that he will do whatever is necessary to keep her safe.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

I have been hooked on this series since the very beginning even if they are all standalone's they are so much better when read in order. This time we follow Ivan and Cilla. Poor Cilla has been used as a tool her entire life thanks to her very sick in the head father so when he sends her undercover to trap Ivan she has no choice in the matter. Following orders she drugs him but does her best to save herself at the same time even if that means death. This leads to quite the tumultuous beginning for them to say the least. They have quite a few things to work through to be safe but oh boy is it a fun journey to get there making for quite the enjoyable read. If you enjoy dark mafia romance then you have to try this one. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

***RECEIVED FREE ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW***

A real dark and complex enemies-to-lovers tale!
I loved both Ivan and Cilla, they were perfect for each other. They met in the worst way possible but their connection was absolutely perfect!

Cilla wants to be free and the only way she can is to trap Ivan!
I loved Ivan, he is the perfect gentleman!! He is strong, possessive, powerful and loyal.
Cilla is a survivor, she is smart, caring, determined and loving!! Cilla becomes stronger, and Ivan pushed her to fight!! Her background is heartbreaking and traumatic!!

Both characters were great and the story had me on the edge of my seat but the ending seemed rushed.

This is the 5th book in the Doubeck Crime Family. This story is about Ivan and Pricilla Capri. Couples stories so far: Adrian and Valentina, Kai and Rose, Michail and Selena, Ivan and Cilla.
Next stories: Alexei, Andrea.
Review I liked:The level of evil darkness of this book is an absolute nauseating. I mean, how can a father, a family who should be your biggest protector and safe place do the opposite and become your living hell like what Cilla have to endure her whole life.

And I agree with Ivan when he said he's amazed on how Cilla not become the hollow, vengeful, broken woman. Instead she still have that grace compassion who still crave her freedom. Although, herlack of fight in several times does get on my nerves cause I need her to fight for her self!

The triggers in the first few chapter of this book should have their own zip code!

But the biggest heart-breaking point, my anger induced moments in this book for me though, what happened in the society even though they are criminals that it's too close to reality.
On how sometimes the good guy couldn't always win easy from the evil. That you can't just off someone without repercussions.
The Doubeck clan need to be extra smart with Capri evilness in this book. And that times when he look like he outsmart the Doubeks really put me on edge cause I need him gone as in gone gone in the most excruciating way!

Priscilla and Ivan's story begins with her trying to drug him to do her evil father's bidding, but Ivan has been in the game too long to not realize it and ends up drugging her.
Priscilla's father is the devil himself, a man who experiments with drugs on his own daughter, subjecting her to numerous tortures and humiliations.
Ivan does not understand how or why, since after all she is the enemy in a certain way, but he develops an enormous protective instinct towards her and for this he will have to kill her father, although it will not be that easy.
Very entertaining.

BOUND TO DECEPTION by JL Beck & Monica Corwin is book 5 in the Doubeck Crime Family Series. This is the story of Cilla and Ivan. Cilla is living the worse life at the hands of her father. Cilla's father is nothing but abusive and uses her to no end. This is how she ends up in Ivan's site. Ivan knows how vile a man her father is and he feels for her. This is a dark romance that does have some hard scene.

Wow well this story started off dark and didn’t let up. The themes depicted in this story are not for the faint of heart, this book is quite gritty and violent at times but also quite emotional. So be aware of the triggers. This is the fifth instalment of the Doubeck Crime Family Series and focuses on Ivan another of Adrian’s Five and Pricilla (Cilla)Capri. It would be best to read the other books in this series as it gives you a greater understanding of the overall storyline, the role of the Society and the characters who pop up in this book.

It’s fair to say that at the hands of her father Arthur and his men the experiences that Cilla has endured is nothing short of horrific. She’s been experimented on with a variety of drugs and made to be the plaything of her fathers men. Her next task is to reel Ivan into her fathers web, she’s not stupid and knows just who Ivan is, who he’s associated with and and how dangerous he is. But honestly she’s happy if he actually kills her as at least then she’ll gain her freedom from her father. What she didn’t expect was that Ivan would actually see her, Cilla is used to being used, she’s just a shell who has no fight in her. But Ivan sees through this and while he’s happy to fight for the both of them he wants Cilla to stand up for herself as well. I would agree with others that I did get frustrated with Cilla and there were times I wanted to shout at her to do just this. But Cilla has been conditioned by her upbringing, can she really do what Ivan is asking of while retaining her compassion.

Ivan has always seen himself as the Society sees him….an animal and monster. He will do anything to keep his Family safe and he’s more than happy to get his hands dirty to do this. His conscience is most definitely clear. But being an animal is not all Ivan is, his loyalty and trust in his Family is absolute. While Ivan only experienced a fraction of what Cilla had to endure I loved his resilience and how he would do all he can to protect Cilla even though she was the reason he was initially taken by Arthur. The cat and mouse game between Arthur and the Doubeck’s well I was most definitely in Ivan’s corner where a little bloodshed would’ve been good but Adrian’s strategic thinking always wins out!

All in all a brilliant addition to the series, Cilla is a very flawed character who has been shaped by her experiences with her father. But that’s not all she is, as Ivan says given what Cilla’s been through she’s the strongest person he knows. I have to say this is definitely borne out by her actions, she’s such a caring and forgiving person despite everything and is willing to give up everything to protect those she loves even to the detriment of her life. Cilla quietens the beast in Ivan and she gives him time to breathe. Their relationship may not have had a conventional start but their chemistry is fantastic. This was a heartbreaking and difficult read at times but well worth it. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next in the Doubeck world and what the Society or the odd rouge Capri has in store for the Family next. I would definitely recommend this story it has it all action, romance and a gritty storyline with well rounded characters.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

They call me an animal. Ruled by my base instincts. Owned by the rage roiling inside me. A rage so deep I can't see my way out of it. Until her. Cilla is a pretty little trap I walk right into. And when the bait becomes the prey I'll show them how much of an animal I can really be. Bound by deception, ruled by desire, I'll shove the mystery of little Cilla or we'll both be consumed by the never ending fury which threatens my very sanity.

This is a dark romance. You will want to heed the warnings int he beginning of the book before diving into it. This is a enemies to lovers romance.
Right from the very beginning you are in a very intense story. Cillia has experienced the things of nightmares thanks to her father Arthur and the men who work for him. She was experimented on by various kinds of drugs and the plaything for her father's men. To say I wanted to just slug the guy is a massive understatement. Now she has been tasked with reeling Ivan into her fathers web of deceit. However she is not an idiot and knows exactly who Ivan is. She knows exactly who he is associated with and how dangerous he is. She is so desperate for her freedom that either of them killing her would finally grant her the freedom she is so desperate for. She never expected though for Ivan to actually see her for who she is. After all she is just the shell of a girl who has absolutely not one ounce of fight left in her. Ivan though has no problem fighting for the both of them though he really wants her to stand up and fight for herself. However she has been conditioned by the life she has been forced to lead. Ivan on the other hand has always known how his is and just as others see him. A monster and he will do anything and everything to keep his family safe. However he is so much more than a monster. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone more loyal to the Family than Ivan. Now that includes Cillia and he will go to any lengths he has to for her. I don't need to go into more of the story than this. I am afraid I will give something away. But this is an amazing read. It sucks you in and doesn't let you go until you are finished.

Bound by Deception is fifth installment in the Doubeck Crime Family Series. It's dark, twisted, and savage. This is prey-to-predator story, enemies-to-lovers romance, was everything and more. A standalone full-length novel with no cliffhanger or cheating and guaranteed happily-ever-after. The story is interconnected with the others. This is Ivan and Cilla story. A compelling story that keeps the reader on the edge and was hard to put down. It's deliciously addicting and keeps you turning the pages. The story is fast paced well written with complex characters and great storyline.
It contains dubious situations, graphic violence that some readers may find triggering and offensive. It's filled with lies, danger, deception, violence, drama, revenge, mystery, angst, action, darkness, steamy sexy scenes, drugs, pedophilia, sexual abuse, survival, lust, pain, trust issues, murder, loss, bloodshed, hatred, anger, secrets, heartache, passion and love. Cilla was task with trapping Ivan for her father. Cilla childhood is filled with darkness, cruelty, atrocity, inhumanity, and heinous act. Ivan is dangerous and savage. They call him an animal, who owned by the raged that's roiling inside of him. But that changed when he saw Cilla. Cilla thought that if she could capture Ivan it would secure her freedom from the hell that she was going through. But oh she was wrong the bait became the prey. It was a insta-lust and slow burn between them and he was going to show them much of an animal he can be. Oh this story was heartwrenching I feel for Cilla all the things that she had to endure at the hands of her dad. I recommend this book if you like this type of genre.

Victim Blaming for Romance?

I read this because I read a cute blurb on tiktock that the ML buys the FL books. Not only was the blurb misleading, but it was a bit of a let down.

I don't know, it's just not my cup of tea. Between the victim blaming and the ML constantly ordering the FL around like she's his wind-up toy, it just kinds left a sour taste in my mouth.

Every conversation the two leads have devolve into a circular argument where they'll bring up one or more of the following: the FL drugging the ML, the ML wanting kill the FL's father, FL not wanting to kill her father and sex. I fail to see how these two characters relate to one another outside of sex since it seems like all they do is have sex and argue. The ML literally yells at the FL lead for ducking her head and not fighting in order to survive and the turns around and yells at here again for standing up to him for how he treats her.

I mean, I can ignore a lot or red flags but even that kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

On top of that, the whole books feels like one big build-up for the characters to have some kind of mutual understanding of each other. Then, right when there's positive development in their relationship, the story ends.

I don't know, I was kinda hoping for some fluff between my hard railings, but that's not was I got.

3.5/5 ⭐
4.5/5 🌶️

I really enjoyed Bound to Deception. I loved the way Cilla and Ivan got together, it was a very unique insta-lust/love encounter. The way Ivan felt about her was intense and amazing, his push and pull to need her and protect her from himself was intense. When he finally let her in it was incredible, I absolutely loved that scene.

The storyline was fantastic, I felt so much for Cilla... Her father was truly evil and I couldn't wait for him to get his due. While this was a standalone, I feel like reading the first 4 books would have probably given me a better insight into the side characters. I learned a bit about them, certainly enough to love most of them, but really knowing their backstories would have probably made this book even better.

The ending was great. I loved the moment Ivan finally told Cilla what she meant to him. And the way Arthur got what he deserved was great too. I'm hoping we get another book, because I'm really curious as to what happens to the woman they captured...

Tortuous Cesspools

Ivan Doubeck, one of the most dangerous men in the city, falls trap to Priscilla (Cilla) Capri.

Cilla, living a forced life as a prostitute for her father to trade and sell away as he sees fit. Given a choice between life or death on a daily basis, always searching and hoping for freedom.

Prisoners together in a cesspool of designer drugs, bound by her deception and ruled by their desire for each other. As their societies open season closes, the final choice is given between life and death.

Overall, Cilla's POVs are torturous as what her father did to her through her life comes more and more to light. However, Ivan's is only touched base upon when in comparison. I liked how they were immediately drawn together though, seeking comfort from one another, with her ability to tame the beast within him and him able to help her live a safer world.

Where will the Doubeck crime famiglia goes towards next??? I have some thoughts as the two final members come towards their own:

Andrea - ?? Maybe a certain FBI agent in lockup?
Alexei - ?? Maybe the woman he's torturing at the end of this book?

Though it can be read as a stand alone, it would be best to read the other books in this series first as it gives you a greater understanding of the overall story, the role of the "Society", and the other main characters who pop up periodically in this book.
Bound to Deception, book five in the Doubeck Family series continues with the next member of Adrian’s Five, Ivan and his kidnapper/rescuer Priscilla Capri. Pricilla, or Cilla is used to her Father Arthur using her, but when he pushes her into drugging Ivan she fears for her life which would be an escape from the horrors of her life living in her father’s compound where she is experimented on and used by the guards for their own purposes. So what happens when Ivan doesn’t want her dead? And how will Cilla be able to help Adrian and the Five?
I really enjoyed this book, a great addition to this series, and I can’t wait to see what happens with the twins, Alexei and Andrea get their books.

We've encountered our Hero, Ivan, in other stories in the Doubek Crime Family series. Each time, he's always described as very intense yet quiet. Although this story is told from a dual point of view, I had a hard time "getting to know" Ivan as he kept his inner thoughts pretty close to the vest. When we meet our heroine, Cilla, her plan to ask for Ivan's help backfires in a major way, imprisoning them both by her ruthless father. Cilla has led a very torturous life that she's desperate to leave. Ivan doesn't want to trust Cilla after what she did, and yet he must rely on her if they are to escape. There's a lot of push and pull with these two where Cilla starts to see a different future for herself when Ivan convinces her to fight, and the wall around Ivan's heart starts to crumble. The ending seemed a little rushed, but hopefully we'll get a glimpse of this couple's future in the next installment of the series.

Dark, twisted, violent, emotional enemies to lovers arranged marriage romance.

Cilla is living in a nightmare of her father's making. With no other choice but to follow his order if she wants to hopefully be set free. That leads her to set a trap for Ivan. When he discovers what she was trying to do he turned the table.
I really loved Ivan and how loyal, strong, resilient, powerful and overall a pretty good guy in the scheme of things.
Cilla story was heartbreaking and traumatic yet through it all she wasn't jaded but caring, loving and unbelievably forgiving. There were times I wanted to yell at her and say for the love of god fight back. I loved how Ivan pushes her to stand up for herself and fightback.
Great addition to the Doubeck Crime Family series.

This is the 5th book in this incredible series, and this is Ivan and Cilla’s journey. Ivan is strong, loyal, and possessive, and is fuelled by rage, but he will do anything for his family and those close to him. Cilla has a heartbreaking and horrific background, where she has been groomed by her father, but she is a survivor, and just wants her freedom, but her father demands that she traps Ivan to gain it. Cilla knows who Ivan is, and with his encouragement she becomes stronger. This is a well written story which is dark, raw, gritty, complex, intense, and intriguing, with twists, suspense, danger, violence, action, family, loyalty, heartbreak, compassion, and love, which leads to a riveting and addictive page turner.
Be aware there may be triggers for some readers due to the sensitive content!
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This book starts off dark, but not the darkest I’ve read. Definitely check trigger warnings—but with that said, there are definitely books out there with many more triggers/“black” parts instead of shades of grey.

Cilla and Ivan are explosive. Cilla is a character who has gone through so so much trauma and absolutely betrayed by someone she should trust the most. She is quite literally forced to meet Ivan, but despite being known as a monster, he is still respectful. Respectful but also dominant and forceful. Ivan was my favorite character by far.

I wanted a bit more from Cilla. While I know and understand how traumatized and abused she had been, I was praying she would have a little bit of fight left in her on her own. However, I love that Ivan brings out the strength in her.

I was given an ARC of this book for my honest review.

I was gripped by the book from start to finish.
Cilla is no precious or cared for daughter. Her father is a piece of crap and treats her horridly.
The only thing she can done to preserve what’s left of her is to do as her father commands.
This girl has been brutalized but she is strong in her will and her spirit.
Ivan is loyal and fierce when it comes to his family and his loved ones. He will do and does anything to keep them safe.
When Cilla’s father demands she lure Ivan to her, she does as she’s told.
Here starts the explosive dynamics between her and Ivan.
Their chemistry is undeniable. And their story gripping.
It was gritty, heartbreaking and painful at times.
I loved Ivan and Cilla. They deserved to find happiness and peace.

Ivan finds himself being deceived by Cilla. She is being used as a pawn in her father's game. She has been beaten down her whole life and just wants it to end. Ivan realizes she is deceiving him, but decides to play along. What he doesn't expect is to be taken against his will and under her father's thumb for a bit. Cilla doesn't really fight back against her father and, although understandable, it was hard to read. She doesn't feel worthy of Ivan and he doesn't feel worthy of her. At the end, both of them have to come to realize they are perfect for each other. Ivan isn't a knight in shining armor, but he is what she needs. I did like how he knew he needed to avenge her. Their story was interesting but needed more interaction between them without it being savage.

This book was weird. It was a lot different than I expected, and I think part of the problem is how vague the synopsis is. With that said, I don't think the book was bad. It was just different. I haven't read any other book in the Doubeck Crime Family series, but I wasn't confused about the world's background. I found the relationship between Cilla and Ivan very different than a typical mafia romance. It was very repetitive in nature, and I'm not sure why they love each other. The characters don't do anything together beside have sex, causing their relationship to be underdeveloped. Overall, I'd give the book three stars. Their relationship was too odd for me.

This series is absolutely explosive! Each book is better than the one before and Bound To Deception is no exception. Cilla has herself in quite a mess when she's tasked with taking on Ivan. Ivan is a force to be reckoned with and Cilla is just about to find out. Ivan and Cilla's story is dark, gritty and so, so steamy. The Capri family is back at it again. This family is like roaches, no matter how many the Doubeck's squash, they keep coming. But they've underestimated the Doubeck Family yet again and as usual with this Family, no mercy will be shown. Bound To Deception is the newest addition to this series and it's EVERYTHING you can expect from these authors.

Another great book from the Doubeck Crime Family series!
Cilla and Ivan’s relationship definitely started off very rocky, since she did try to drug and kidnap him for her father. While being kept prisoner by her father, Ivan witnesses just how vile and disgusting her father is, and he feels protective of her. He swears she’s his and no one will ever touch her again. Once they get out, it didn’t take long for them to grow to trust each other and love each other. Ivan was her white knight rescuing her from her horrible father.
I enjoyed this book, read it from start to finish in a few hours. Definite recommend it!

Cillia is sent by her father to drug Ivan for her freedom and she must succeed or suffer the consequences. She fully expects the plan to go wrong and for Ivan to put her out of her misery.

Ivan knows right away this woman who approached him has drugged him but he plays along with her game to see what who sent her. Ivan didn't plan to let the plan follow through but was caught by Cillia's father. He sees the hell Cillia has been through, but will her pitty her and save her or kill her like he plans to do with her father?

I loved Ivan and cellia's story if how hate can turn into love. Ivan and Cellia both had rough childhoods but finally might have the chance of a lifetime with eachother!
