This was a bit disappointing. Although the misunderstandings in volume one frustrated me, that volume still felt fresh and funny. This one did not. I still think the relationship is cute, but in here it was overshadowed by random plot lines that of course led to more miscommunication.

There were things about this that I really enjoyed. I appreciate Riichi's assertiveness in the latter half of volume two. I also thought the flashback revealing everyone's childhood connection was sweet, and I loved Nobu (though I had hoped he would end up with Kaito).

Unfortunately, these elements weren't enough to push this rating any higher. Everything else was just too chaotic.

OMG, SQUEEEEEEE! This was just such a good second (and sadly last) volume! This time more focus on Mario and Riichi and less on the bodyguarding. But did I mind? Heck no! We got some great conversations, some drama (I think someone has lost their job there), steamy sex scenes, a couple to root for so much, fun scenes with Nobu and Mario/Riichi + backstory time! I loved seeing their relationship expand beyond the first volume, see them get more serious. Yes, the drama wasn't always great, but it also made things just a bit more exciting! And of course, there is still a dash of bodyguarding.
And the bonus stories were perfect!

Okay, yeah, this story just makes no sense. I got pretty bored in this volume and started skimming a little; it wasn't doing much to hold my interest, and I kept making faces at the plot elements being thrown in every which way. It's utterly chaotic storytelling.

The good part was, again, the flashback with little Riichi and little Nobuyasu - this time with little Mario mixed in. It was a cute glimpse of their past, and I liked the panel with Mario plastering himself against the train window when he saw Riichi again for the first time in the present. It could have been a nicely emotional story about broken families and lost time and fate.

But it was just...kind of a mess. Everyone's characterizations were all over the place.

Nobu has the strongest arc; he's gone from spoiled playboy to a responsible heir who's actually thinking seriously about taking over the family business and stepping into his role. Except...at no point is he being remotely trained for that. He barely sees his dad (whom everyone just refers to as The CEO) and seems to have absolutely no experience with anything related to whatever it is their conglomerate does.

He's still in school, I think, because it's mentioned periodically, but we've never once seen him attending any classes. He did pick up a part time job in a cafe, which I guess is nice as a way for him to try to learn some responsibility on his own, but...it makes no sense at all with the entire setup of the entire first volume!!! He has a full-time, multi-person staff of bodyguards always shadowing his steps because he gets attacked nearly every time he's outside. But at various points throughout this volume, he just shakes off his bodyguards without any of the panic that ensued in volume 1 when his GPS signal got lost. And no one seemed to be watching him at the cafe?

The whole scene with Mario's niece was so absurdly stupid. She disappears right under her mother's nose, and the police say she was seen with two men, which sounded like a decent setup for a kidnapping to target Mario, now that the news has spread that he's the CEO's oldest son. If they can't get to the younger son, right, this is another avenue to some ransom money or leverage.

But no...Nobu and his friend just randomly wandered into Mario's niece on the street, happened to speak Portuguese in order to find out she was related to him, and brought her home. Again...where were the bodyguards??? What was the point of this little incident?

Then there's everything with Mario's family. In the flashback, his mother was shown to be a selfish person who literally stole food out of her kids' mouths, and then later relied on them (Mario) to get her out of debt. Specifically, his step-dad had gotten into pretty bad debt and their whole family was being threatened as a result, which is why Mario decided to go to Japan and wrangle some fast cash out of his rich biological father.

I'm not sure how this fits with Mario saying he wanted to introduce Riichi to his parents - is this the same stepfather? Does he even like these people? And it's also very, very strange to me that someone raised in this kind of constant, debilitating debt would blow all his money so easily every time he had a paycheck. Initially, I'd thought it was a front he was putting on to cover for the fact that he was sending his bodyguard paychecks back to his family to clear the debt. But then he gets $2million as "severance money" from the CEO and he spends it all on a car, a watch, clothes, etc.

And then is entirely relaxed about not having a job once he gets fired. He only starts idly looking around once Riichi expresses concern and offers to pay for everything. This is a guy who'd been scraping by through underground boxing rings. Like I said, none of their characterizations make ANY sense and aren't consistent at all.

And then! In the end! He somehow gets all $2million back so he can throw it back at the CEO's feet. And he gets it...how? By reselling his watch for more money than he'd paid. And by taking back some money he'd loaned to his brother-in-law. How many millions did he loan the guy??? Was that guy also in debt? What was even going on in this story?

Plus the whole confusing thing with the CEO, where he conveniently showed up at the same airport where Riichi was trying to fly to Brazil, got attacked by someone with a gun because that is sure likely to slip past airport security, was saved by Mario showing up just in time even though he had his own suite of bodyguards with him, and then turned out to actually be a kind of nice guy who'd just wanted Mario to be part of his family.

He apparently hadn't been giving Mario money to get out of his life...he hadn't asked for him to be fired...and for some reason Mario had a brief phone call with him where absolutely nothing happened but Mario left the country and broke up with Riichi for...reasons? There's even a line about how he didn't even bother to listen to the whole phone call before making up his mind.

And then there's the whole weird conversation between Riichi and Nobu where for some reason they're convinced Mario has been cheating on him. Even though the texts he sent Riichi did not in any way whatsoever give any indication that was even a possibility. He'd told BOTH of them that he was going to meet with the CEO and that he was worried things would go badly. And then he sends Riichi a farewell text and for some reason Riichi and Nobu spend several pages trying to figure out when and how Mario was cheating.

I'm.

What.

Everything in this series hinges on fully illogical miscommunications, and it got very tiring in this volume.

Why even say he was "meeting with" the CEO if the CEO wasn't even in town and he was just gonna exchange a few words over the phone. What was he trying to save Riichi from by leaving? Why did he hate the CEO so much, anyway?

What was with that sudden, unsatisfying half-meeting with Riichi's mother? She'd supposedly met Mario before, but when? (I didn't care enough to try to flip back through to find when he'd called someone other than his own mother an old hag.)

None of these questions have any solid, consistent answers. It's a lot of random drama thrown in for no reason, with no significant plot or planning.

Riichi, though, was my least favorite. I never got a real grasp on his personality. He's utterly devoted to his job and entirely determined to continue working for Nobu forever. No one even gives him a chance to consider whether he'd leave his job or the country for Mario, although when he's talking to Nobu later on, it doesn't seem like he has any intention of doing so. If he had to choose between The Only Person He's Ever Loved and being a permanent bodyguard, he'll stay with Nobu.

Which is sweet in that Nobu really does consider Riichi part of his family, but it also just leaves Riichi so...one-dimensional. Where's the growth from the end of volume 1, when he realized that falling in love with Mario was the first time he'd made a decision by himself, for himself? He just folded Mario into his life and wanted him to change to fit into those spaces he'd already had set out exactly the way they'd always been.

Then there's how his entire personality changes to be ultra-submissive - weepy and blushy and "omg i've never done any of this before, please put it in me, you're so big" - in all the bedroom scenes. Which continue to not have any real chemistry. If romance is supposed to be the heart of this story, it's just missing a lot of essential things.

I'm pretty disappointed. In volume 1, I was thinking maybe I'd try a reread at a later point to see if I'd just hit it in a different mood, but with how messy and nonsensical the plot was in this volume, I think my first impressions were right. I probably wouldn't even be hesitating about tossing it on the discard pile if I hadn't already bought some pretty merch for the story. But hey. More room on a couple shelves for stories that know how to develop their characters and their relationships properly.

There are just...so many issues with the writing of this series.

Tachibana and Aoyagi did things so completely backwards. Why did their relationship get THIS FAR before Tachibana found out that Aoyagi had zero dating experience????? Why did it take such a random scene for that to come up finally, after all that time living together?

Then we get some backstory, some nonsensical family stuff on Tachibana's end (I get him and Nobu being half brothers, but his mom and all the other siblings and...how many stepdads did he have??), stupid drama because Tachibana is an idiot, and then a happy ending. Tachibana growing up poor, struggling through various jobs and whatnot, does not mesh with his "I got severance pay and blew it all on a car and shit," attitude. Which parents did he want Aoyagi to meet, since he seemed to hate everyone but his siblings and niece?? Where did Aoyagi's growth disappear to in this volume? Why is Nobu the only one with a brain?

Not a favorite of mine. The art is good and this had a solid enough premise to begin with, but the execution and the disorganized events made it an annoying read more than anything. All just felt like super lazy writing.

Almost a similar vibes as the first book but this one has a bit more plot to it. It's still super cute and I love the romance between them but I felt like the slight drama was a bit of a turn off. It's almost like the author wanted to write something in for a second book but just fluff between them would have been enough. The miscommunication between our leads & Mario's family felt unnecessary or didn't have enough build up for an enjoyable pay off.

Would still recommend if you want something quick to read that's fluffy, & smiles.

The second vol sadly isn't as good. The plot is all over the place and everything was just about miscommunication and assumptions. It was also weirdly obsessed with cheating, there was a subplot, where everyone thought Mario was cheating because . And even aside of that, people were constantly talking to Riichi all "Oh I bet Mario is cheating on you. Haha, just joking." Yeah, that wasn't funny even the first time ...
At least the sex was hot, but otherwise? It should have been an oneshot...

This was nice enough and it was a great continuation from the first volume, but the whole 'met eachother as kids' concept felt really unnecessary and shoe-horned in like what's wrong with them just meeting now? It was cute and all but it kind of made me like Mario less because it was lowkey stalker vibes haha. Overall pretty cute and sweet but not perfect.

Pues valoración general: lo he disfrutado mucho. Me ha gustado el desenlace y, sobre todo, cómo gestionaba las movidas Riichi, algo que no se ve todos los días y es como deberían hacerse las cosas.

Ohhh I enjoyed this series so much. It had a storyline that didn’t only focus on their romance and I liked that the smut wasn’t too much too fast. I love a good build up! Lol

This story!! I absolutely loved how the relationship between Riichi and Mario evolved! such a sweet love story!!
And the art was gorgeous and hilarious, it was the right balance of heat and fluff. I'll definitely reread it again on those rainy days.

This was a little better than volume 1 in that the writing was a bit less wonky. The characters have come to interesting points in their arcs, and I think this overall generally works a lot better than most two-volume BL works I've read. As far as BL involving bodyguards go, though, it's still not the best. But if you're looking for that and have already read "Bad Judgment" and "Rough Trade" by Sidney Bell, "The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter" by Yatsuki Wakatsu and illustrated by Kikka Ohashi, "My Younger Knight Takes Care of Me in Another World" by Nekonomori Shima, "Twittering Birds Never Fly" by Kou Yoneda, "Black Blood" by Hayate Kuku, "The Monster and the Beast" by Renji, and "How to Survive as a Villain" by Yi Yi Yi Yi, then this isn't a bad addition to the mix. The art just isn't as good as some other things, and the smut is passable, but not the most exciting. The humor can be cute and the character relationships are interesting. The story ultimately seems to be more about paying attention to people and not getting caught up in your own imaginings, which is a bit different to how things felt in volume 1, but if that's your thing, then this is fine.

Stoic and composed chief bodyguard Riichi Aoyagi and flamboyant newbie agent Mario Tachibana are finally in a relationship. But then Riichi discovers that Mario is his CEO’s illegitimate son and by extension, his charge Nobuyasu’s half-brother. Coming to terms with this shocking new development, Riichi realizes that there is a lot he does not know about his smitten boyfriend. And when Mario suddenly starts displaying signs of being aloof and secretive, Riichi is conflicted.

Will their ever-so-adorable fledgling love story survive the odds? All that and much more in this almost-filleresque sequel to My Dear Agent, Vol.1.

I truly adore all the main and essential side characters in this series. Riichi and Mario, with their hilarious bickering and shmexy private moments are a couple that I root for wholeheartedly. Nobuyasu continues to be a pleasant surprise with a new found layer of maturity and gravitas. And Mr. CEO in a rare appearance was engaging too.

Sweet, funny and endearing….I have a soft spot for this series.

The mystery and romance continues with Riichi and Mario, our two main characters after finding their way back to each other, and realizing that Mario is actually the son of the head of the Corporation that Ricchi has worked for, Mario disappears again. He doesn't tell Riichi where he is going or even when he is leaving. Of course, Riichi starts thinking that Mario has left for ever.

They even try to find out where he went. It turns out that he went to get money from his brother in law so he can pay his father back. He is is Brazel with his mother and half sister and her daughter. It turns out the whole thing was a miscommunication and everything resolves.

The two of them turn out to be a nice relationship, and Ricchi gets to interview Mario for another job at the same agency and they are working together again. Again, I recommend this for those who enjoy seeing two guys resolve their problems and get together.

This one definitely had a rough start. I loved the first volume, I'd actually been waiting for the release date to get it on the same day. I opened it and... It jumped right to bedroom activities... Like within the first few pages. Not that I would have minded, but the two had such great tension and it was just so anticlimantic to just jump right on each other right away. I will die on the hill that Riichi had a character assassination. There's no way his character just flipped into the sterotypical blushing virgin bottom... like not even a power bottom at that. It took awhile to actually gather myself to finish the volume. After around the halfway point, things began to turn around for the better and I was able to feel hints of the orginal charm that had me locked onto the first volume. I can't bring myself to truly hate this book, but man... such a let down.

I know the bar is low when I have to say I am glad that there was so assault but, I am glad that there was no assault. There was sex which I would have rather not had in this, but it was consensual. I liked Mario, but he should have really talked more and not tried to do things on his own, which he is not good at. They were really sweet together, I loved the side characters and the drawings were good, I really liked the style. The only thing I really have to complain about is the cheating plot line, that was really prominent in this. I hate cheating, or miscommunication where the other assumes he is being cheated on. I am just glad that resolved quickly, but then the same thing happened again.

this was nearly perfect aside from the third-act breakup (I still don't fully understand why tachibana felt the need to completely ghost riichi). other than that though, I loved this volume!! it starts off quite spicy 🥵 but then we get a whole lot of sweetness as riichi and tachibana test out their relationship while also foiling a catfishing scheme. there is some super cuteness with nobu as well...I just cannot with their brotherly bonds!! and we finally get some closure with the dad, which was a little anticlimactic but ended well.

very happy with this series - the story, art, and characters were all fantastic.

I'm sorry but this manga is so fantastic I wish there were more volumes. Mario being Brazilian is such a unique choice and I feel like this manga has so much heart put into it . The bodyguard concept fits so right and is executed in a way that keeps me turning pages at a furious rate. By far, this is the most realistically sugary sweet relationship I've ever seen and I will probably come back and reread this series just to revel in it. The visual and dialogue based comedy was also so fantastic and I've screenshotted so many panels for the memories. Ebino Bisque really did something with this one.

I would just like to say that I like this volume so much better than the first one. There was something about the first one that just frustrated me. Maybe it was the amount of miscommunication there was. From both sides also, Nobu is giving that he is a bisexual man. I thought that he was going to be doing something completely different in the second volume. But I do like that he has progressed as a person. I kind of want him to have a spin off if I’m honest, but at some point it felt like this book was too long. It was cute in sections. And pacing was good. But it could’ve ended a couple times before it actually did.
