Too much moe and love!!

Well, what do we have here? A delivery of packaged love and cuteness!! I totally adore the 2 stories in this volume. Both are cute and fluffy—but the second story left me with some unfinished business, though. It's fricken cut too short! Overall, this is a candy cake that I couldn't stop smiling while eating!! Also, gorgeous art style!! Yes, I feel refreshed right now. I'll give 3.5

Honestly super cute! My only comment would be that some parts felt too rushed. But if you’re looking for a cute BL equivalent to Scott Pilgrim rush ordering things to his place just to see Ramona without all the toxicity then this is definitely the romance for you.

This was a really cute manga about a man who falls for his local delivery man and keeps ordering excessive amounts of packages so the delivery man will keep coming over. It's sweet and low stakes. The lead has insecurities keeping him from pursuing the man he's been pining for, but it turns out our endearing delivery man loves him exactly as he is. There's a second story in here about college students who bond over their painful attempts at finding a girlfriend, only to realize maybe they've found the perfect partner in each other. This story is cute too, though I wish the ending had been more conclusive on the relationship. After that we get more bonus stories about the main couple, and it's just more adorable moments that I very much enjoyed.

Not sure if this really qualifies for a full five stars, since the stories didn't have a ton of depth to them, but they were both really charming and fun and gave me a lot of the warm fuzzy feelings that I enjoyed so much from my early days of getting into BL manga.

And yes, "both," because while the majority is dedicated to the title couple, there are two chapters about completely unrelated characters. To fill out the pages, I suppose, but they were fun, too, so I certainly didn't mind.

The main storyline is about Fukaya, a 27 year old gamer otaku who works part time at a local dry cleaner and spends the rest of his days playing games, collecting figurines, and doing other things seen as useless by typical Japanese society. We don't find out anything about his family or background, but he doesn't seem to have any real sense of shame about his lifestyle choices. And even though he only works part time, he clearly has enough disposable income for an elaborate computer setup, and plenty of online shopping - especially once he develops a crush on his handsome deliveryman.

Tsuchiya, also 27, is tall, good-looking, athletic, and effortlessly cool. Fukaya does start to feel a little intimidated by someone like that throwing his very uncool life into stark contrast...so he follows the advice of his old lady boss and tries to at least get into an exercise routine. Which backfires spectacularly, if you count the sweating and the hyperventilating and the puking and the rain. Or goes super well, if you're factoring in the part where Tsuchiya carries him home, lends him a towel, and kisses him.

It's just a really sweet, simple story.

I said there wasn't much depth, but that isn't entirely true; I like the messages about taking your lot in life and doing your best with it, without ever feeling like you're not good enough. Tsuchiya (and his siblings, mentioned but not shown) aren't book-smart and had no college prospects - or at least, he was told he'd never get into any. So he settled into this job, and he's doing his best every day. Fukaya thinks he's amazing, and Tsuchiya thinks Fukaya is pretty awesome, too, so that's all that really matters.

The little twist with Tsuchiya's family was nice; I get the sense that if Fukaya doesn't have much family of his own, he will gain a lot of siblings and relatives pretty soon.

The second couple, Igarashi and Natsume, is silly and cute. They went to the same high school but never interacted until they wound up at the same college, where they buddy up because they're determined to go on a bunch of group dates and find girlfriends.

Or at least, that's Igarashi's side of the story. It's not stated, but I kind of suspect star baseball player and perpetually single Natsume was more aware of Igarashi earlier on, and has had very little interest in girls from the start.

One of the funny parts here is that their failures at group dating often boiled down to the two of them seeming way closer to each other than they ever would've been with any of the girls they'd been flirting with (Igarashi) or awkwardly failing to talk to (Natsume). I like that they wound up with a group of possible female friends by the end, and with more romantic promise with each other.

Solid, well-told short narratives. I would read more from this mangaka.

This comic includes two stories:

Delivery for You! is about 27 year old men, one that works as a delivery man and one that works at a drycleaners. The story is short and sweet but could have used just a liiiittle bit more character and romance development

The secondary story (who's title I cannot remember, sorry) is about two college boys who want to get girlfriends, but one is too shy and the other is too outgoing. This story is only one chapter long and reads more as a shounen ai, in that romance is just suggested.

Overall I liked the art style, but could have used a little bit more development -- then again, it could just feel a little stilted due to the English trnaslation.

This one-off manga has a promisingly simple concept - the pining by a nerd for his hot delivery guy. But geez, panel after panel of this pining and self-loathing made me wonder why the reader would care about this character, and why the delivery guy ever fell for him. The illustrations were capably done, but I was frequently unclear as to who was speaking, and if certain words were thoughts or spoken aloud.

Seemed like the author/illustrator's wish fulfillment, more than an actual fully conceived story. Two stars, but just for the cute delivery guy.

The art is good but the stories feel very underdeveloped. Both stories seem to consist of the 2 character types for men: nerd and cool guy. All 4 characters feel exactly the same to me and the “romance” progresses too quickly to be believed.

Also, the first story seems like it was written as a fantasy for homebodies because guy literally finds “love” without leaving his apartment.

It’s cute but there’s not enough substance, either romantically or smuttily. It’s a nice quick read

I started dipping my toes into manga and BL last fall and I've come across some huge wins, not just for the medium but stories overall.

This, however, is not going to be added to that list. I think my relationship with BL is evolving. This is a cute enough story but offers little to no plot, and even less character development. Which I might be able to look the other way on (at least a tiny bit) if it made up for it with a little steam. But there's no real steam to be found here either.

I can't say I'm done with BL, and I'm definitely not done with manga as a whole, but going forward, I'm going to need more from my Boy Love than just boys ogling their sad eyes at others boys. Call me a traditionalist, I guess.

I really don’t love that in some manga when I start loving a character pairing, all of a sudden, new characters pop up. I like the entire volume to be about the characters I love. I needed more time with them. The second pairing was meh.

If the entire book had been about Tsuchiya and Fukaya, I would have given it a 4.

Izumi and Tsuchiya are so cute. The exclusive digital content, The Pitfalls of Mail Order, I thought it was funny and adorable.

This is an example of a poor standalone story. It doesn’t feel wrapped up in a satisfying way, and to add insult to injury, the bonus story has an even less compelling ending. Pass.

I did not like this, do 27 year olds really care about the "coolness" of a prospective partner. I'm so sad, Waterstones took 5 months to get this to me and I'll be unhauling it straight away.

I wanted to love this.

Most of the Delivery For You story is from Fukaya's perspective and I find that not cool very quickly.  I don't know if it's a translation issue, but the focus on coolness by Fukaya was just too much.  Tsuchiya was adorable, but really one dimensional until we got near the end and into the bonus stories.  So much of this was Fukaya's perception and thoughts and desires of Tsuchiya.  While I can really understand that fixation and awkwardness on a personal level, I just don't enjoy reading it.  At least not with it going on for as long as it did in this.  It does really improve though, in the final chapter as Tsuchiya because more realistic as a person instead of a fixation.

For the mini series included inside, The Real Reason Why We Aren't Popular, I could have loved this.  Could have, but did not.  Igarashi is an 18 year old college student whose closest friend now is 19 year old Natsume.  They knew each other in high school, but really only started spending time together in college.  A liberal arts college where girls outnumber boys by seven to three.  So Igarashi wants a girlfriend and doesn't understand why he and Natsume don't have one yet in this situation.  Natsume, a virgin, is extremely awkward around girls and doesn't seem interested in getting a girlfriend but agrees to help Igarashi get one.  I love the falling in love with your wingman trope, but it isn't developed enough here.  The girls at college all seem to think these two boys are together.  I adore that trope when guys are oblivious to the relationship they're in with one another, but, again, not enough story here to enjoy that.  Igarashi eventually sees Natsume on his own talking to a girl and he realizes he doesn't like that.  I love love LOVE this kind of realization with lowkey jealousy and possessiveness as a trope.  It's not done enough here.  This reads like a sample from an upcoming release to tease you into buying that book, but from what I can find researching this is it.  It's not enough for me to really enjoy.  I'm also not a fan of what Igarashi lists for his type of girlfriend.  "The neat and tidy type! And she's gotta have black hair.  I want a healthy girl!  And pure.  Not somebody who's been around.  I think I'd even prefer a bit of a late bloomer."  Natsume realizes he fits all of that criteria except for being a girl and I should LOVE that.  But Igarashi specifying he wants someone healthy and pure who hasn't been around taints it for me.  It's great to see virgin characters, first time is still a trope I enjoy reading, but not when there's an underlying morality message or judgment that a partner should be "pure."  If it just hadn't had that specific word the the "been around" comment.  The story would still be too short and underdeveloped, but I wouldn't have been taken out of what there is to enjoy.

The main story is 3.75 stars maximum for me. Combining it with my thoughts for the mini, it's a solid 3 stars total. It's good. No complaints with the art. The story just didn't do what I, personally, hoped it would.
