Pink: Raise Your Glass

Rate this book
Pink is one of the most trailblazing artists of our time. Her breakthrough album, Missundaztood, was released to critical acclaim in 2001 and showcased her unique, powerhouse pop vocals, as well as her rebellious style. In the two decades since, she has remained firmly in pop’s upper echelons, despite her refusal to conform. She consistently out-sings her contemporaries with hit songs such as, “Get the Party Started,” “Just Like a Pill,” “So What,” “What About Us,” and “Beautiful Trauma,” while her willingness to speak frankly about difficult topics has made her a relatable role model. She is an outspoken animal rights activist, and has been vocal about women’s rights, LGBT rights, and her support of same-sex marriage. Away from the studio, Pink’s live shows are nothing short of phenomenal; her jaw-dropping acrobatics mark her out as a truly spectacular performer. Loved by fans and revered by the music industry, Pink continues to enjoy global success and substantial airplay. Her accolades are numerous and include, three Grammys, a Daytime Emmy Award, and seven MTV Video Music Awards―the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award among them. In 2019, she was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the Brit Awards, and in 2021 she accepted the Icon Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.  Raise Your Glass  is a celebration of one of pop’s longest reigning rebels. Beautifully illustrated with essential images, this book is a fitting tribute to an undeniably, remarkable pop artist.

Pink - Raise Your Glass is a comprehensive biography of superstar powerhouse performer Pink, from her troubled childhood and teen years to the megastar she is now.

Much of the content is referenced from interviews and articles Pink has given throughout her lengthy career, and it explores both the highs and lows of the journey. Her genre-defying style has led her to working with some of the greats within the music industry and her acumen has ensured she has remained ahead of the trends.

Each chapter is an analysis of her albums and the singles she has released from each. There is discussion about the controversies surrounding particular tracks and reflections from Pink herself as to how she could have approached things with the benefit of hindsight. The later section of the book explores Pink's relationships off the stage, her family life, and her collaborations.

This is an attractively presented book filled with glossy photos of her performances, media appearances and behind-the-scenes stills that will look stunning as a hardcover coffee table book. This is a celebration of a phenomenal career - and an incredible life.

A must for Pink fans.

It's not the typical book I'd request, but when I saw this on Netgalley, I had to take a peek since I'll be seeing Pink this summer.
I grew up with Pink since the beginning, and I'd say I'm a fan but not a SUPER fan, so there were a few tid bits in this book I did not already know (You+Me). However, most of the writing consisted of a plethora of quotes from various interviews, Pink, and those around her have done. Sprinkled with some descriptions of outfits she has worn, performances she's put on, and videos she's released.
Flipping through photos over the course of the last 25 years of her career was nostalgic....oh the 2000s...
I really liked the structure of the book built like a discography....as well as a full discography at the end.
At first, I wasn't happy that the copy wasn't available to send to Kindle, but it was definitely better to look at these photos in color!!!
Thank you, Netgalley, publisher, and author for the ARC.

How can any book about Pink not be a 5 star when it includes bright and colorful, professional photographs, highlights intimate details, shares interesting information, and is offered on NetGalley by the publisher, Palazzo Editions, and author Annie Zaleski.

Pink's new book will be out on July 11, 2023 so get ready for it! It includes personal deets about her crushes and inspirations, including Billy Joel to Bon Jovi to NKOTB (who are back on tour this summer). I found it fascinating that Pink knew since childhood that she would be someone really famous someday. The details about her love of music wasn't surprising as well as her view about her own non-conformance due to not fitting into a square peg when you're many different shapes and sizes. Personally, I love her solo music as much as many of her duets. Her voice is so resonant and clear and joyful. If you haven't listened to her song/duet with her daughter Willow...."Cover Me in Sunshine"...you should. Delightful.

Pink has a huge heart as an animal rights advocate to LGBTQ rights, and acceptance of differences of all kinds. She is a strong woman, advocate, loving mother, legendary singer and performer, and she's a winemaker!! I'm really jealous about the winemaking part - lol. I can't wait to see her in concert and hope it's this summer. Let's raise your glass to that!

Here's a quote of her's: "There is no demographic for me. It's young, old,, moms, daughters, every color of the rainbow, from every part of life. Everyone can relate to me. It's cool." And so is Pink.

I really enjoyed learning about the details of the music career of the artist Pink. This book covers specifics such as the inspiration for her songs, who she wrote music with, managers and others who helped her career, and artists that she collaborated with. There are details about her music videos and concert theatrics, awards she has won, and causes that she has supported along the way. Photographs showcase some of Pink’s more memorable moments.

This book is divided into chapters to cover specifics about her life based on her albums. The overall structure seems to be chronological, yet there are discrepancies that make reading more confusing. There are random facts thrown in that are related to the individuals being discussed, yet don’t fit chronologically. There is also more repetition of information than I would have cared for. Some of the same details about her life are shared in more than one chapter.

The structure of this book may work well for someone who just wants to jump to a chapter to learn about a specific album’s details. However, I feel that the book would read better if it were written more like a story of her life. It’s kind of a mix between styles.

If you want to learn more about the artist Pink, you would enjoy reading this book.

Pink: Raise Your Glass by Annie Zaleski

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This account of Pink’s life starts with her debut album and to the release of her single off of her 2023 album, which is being released 02-17-2023. The focus of this book is heavy on discography, focusing on the origins of songs, partnerships, and even including a complete discography at the end. Interspersed with beautiful photos of Pink on tour and with her family, it gives you a glimpse of the tough as nails woman the book is also portraying.

Between the beautiful photos, the quotes directly from Pink herself, and the inside scoop on the music origins, this is a must read for any fan of Pink’s music. The only thing that would have made this better would have been diving more into her personal life, but I don’t feel like that was the point of this account.

My one critical comment about this book is that the hot pink pages are harder to read the text on. That should be taken into consideration for people with vision issues. I wear glasses and/or contacts and those pages were more difficult for me. I am not sure how it would affect someone with color blindness.

Overall, this is a great read for fans of Pink’s music!

“There is power in believing in yourself. You may not be the best that ever did it, you may not be the prettiest, or the tallest, or the funniest, or the most talented — if you’re stubborn and you don’t give up and you work really hard — no one else can ever be you.”—Pink

I didn’t know much about Pink (Alecia Beth Moore), but I love biographies, so I was intrigued when I saw this ARC on NetGalley. I’m so glad I requested and was approved for an early review.
The biography is journalistic/research style based on published stories and a new interview. The book is packed with photos of her performances over the years.
I walked away with a huge appreciation for Pink’s talent, artistry, determination and straight forwardness.
For over 20 years, Pink has entertained fans, and Pink: Raise Your Glass takes readers through those years and more.
We learn about her young life and family, her career and passions, and her family today. And every step of the way we see her music develop. There’s a reason she won Billboard’s Icon award in 2021.
I thoroughly enjoyed Pink: Raise Your Glass.

Thank you, NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the book.

Pink: Raise Your Glass, by Annie Zaleski, is an attractive coffee table book that also provides a well-researched overview of Pink's professional and public life.

I almost always like a song or two off of her albums, and I lean toward preferring her first few, but I admire her greatly as a person. Not sure where that places me on the fandom spectrum, but there it is. That is where I am coming from.

I knew this wasn't a deep dive biography, and I am quite satisfied with that fact. This is meant to celebrate her career and what she has meant to the business as well as millions of fans, and it succeeds very well. Most readers will pick up some new information, while diehard fans may already be familiar with everything. But having it all together in an attractive book makes this worth adding to your library.

Highly recommended for fans of Pink but also for those who enjoy knowing a little more about songs and artists that have grabbed and held onto the public eye for a long time.

I remember jamming out to songs written and performed by Pink and knew early on that she was an artist to be reckoned with. Her start was not as easy as she hoped though but it did not take long before she was singing number one songs. This book shares intimate details about her life and journey to stardom as a female singer. She had worked hard and luckily made some great friends along the way. Meeting her husband and having her children were the best things that ever happened to her and she talks some about her separation and subsequently getting back with her husband. This book is an amazing story about the life of Pink and how she overcame obstacles and trials to get to the top. If you are a Pink fan this is for you.

A fascinating insight into the pop star known as Pink.
Loved the set out of the book with some colourful pink pages and images, although some of the text on the bright pink pages was a little hard to read.
A very visual book - perfect for any fan or collector.
She knew at aged 2 - 3 that she would be a singer and never pictured anything else.
Born with a collapsed lung and had asthma by 2 year old - did gymnastics and dance lessons at an early age to stay alive
Booted from her gymnastic team as a child for being ‘too strong willed’
Such a strong role model and mental health icon - she lives her truth even if it goes against the grain.
Has always stood up for the underdog and unappreciated
“So raise your glass if you are wrong, in all the right ways, all my underdogs”
So raise your glass to Pink

Pink is one of my all time favourite artists, so I was delighted to get the opportunity to review this book, and I wasn’t disappointed.
The author takes us from her very beginning in the music industry, right the way through to now.
The book is filled with fabulous pictures and talks about what was happening in her life, including how each album came along and who she collaborated with.
Dotted throughout the book are some great quotes that are either by Pink or about her by other people.
This is a great book and I would highly recommend it to any Pink fans.
My thanks to the author, the publisher and to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book. I am leaving this review of my own volition

The high frequency sound that came out of me when I received this ARC was unreal. Thank you Netgalley and Palazzo Editions for granting me this ARC.

I have loved Pink since the dawn of her career. I was 9 years old when Can't Take Me Home released and I was OBSESSED. I have never followed a celebrity as much as I followed her in my life. Well, her music career. I didn't get too invested in personal life because that's her business not mine. Reading this memoir told me there was a lot of things in her music career I didn't know. Annie Zaleski documented Pink's Career amazingly. She has had a beautiful career.

I’m a huge fan of Pink, her music tells a story and her life story is just as fascinating! Well done Annie Zaleski for this amazing book.
I love Pink’s rise to fame, her emotions are always on display and she owns it!
The family growth mixed with the evolution of the songwriting is admirable and inspiring.
Pink is a strong feisty woman who loves fiercely and, with the support of those around her, lives a full life!
This book has the photos and quotes to give fans all they need to know and more, a must read!

I can tell you that the moment I opened this book I had Pink songs filling my head and they have persisted all day long. I can already tell they will still be playing when I try to fall asleep 🎶

This book contains a run through from the beginning of her career to now, with plenty of photos, quotes and information.

My favourite thing is how the pink of the book perfectly matches her pink hair 🩷

A great book for P!nk fans!

I love Pink and everything she has and continues to strive for, this book was a glimpse into her life but it felt like it only grazed the surface, I wanted to know more about her as a person, her stories and that what I expected going into this and it felt very much like a collage of magazine clippings and things I already knew and had already read over the years in magazines. However the visual appearance and photographs were beautiful thought very hard to read in a digital format. I didn’t learn much from this but it was fun to read.

3.75/5 stars! This was a really interesting depiction of Pink and her story. I grew up listening to Pink and really enjoyed flipping through this book and reliving the moments that took place then. This book told a narrative of Pink's life as a performer and also gave insight I wasn't previously aware of. Enjoyable read.

Can’t ask for much more when it comes to a collection of Pink’s life’s work (aside from an auto-biography of course). And a great collection of photos!

She really is an inspiration. Hard work, ambition, and unwavering determination to achieve her goals whilst staying real to herself. Wow, not sure many could achieve what she has (and still will) achieve.

Much better than the other pink book I read but still not the best. I found that the timelines did not flow well. It would talk about her having Willow in one chapter and the next she didn't have Willow yet etc ...
What I really liked about it is learning about songs and albums I had never even heard of and understanding a bit about what the songs were about.
I wish it was a little less about the songs and a bit more about her but overall, it was a good book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this
advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I've always loved Pink's music and knew a bit about her personally because she grew up about an hour away from my hometown. I remember seeing a lot on the news as she was starting out in the music industry and thought this would be an interesting read to get the full story on her life thus far.

This book is a wonderful compilation of Pink's beginnings, struggles, triumphs, accomplishments and everything in-between. There are beautiful photos throughout the book that correlate
with the timeline being presented in each chapter. The author has added quotes from Pink taken from various interviews throughout her career. The book is extremely reader-friendly with a comfortable storyteller approach.

I enjoyed reading about how some of the songs came about and now want to go back and listen to each of her albums and pay closer attention to the lyrics as I listen!

If you're a fan of Pink's music this is a must read!!
