Rate this book
This collection contains the first three books in the popular series, The Plated Prisoner:

Book #1: Gild
Locked away in a castle on the snowy mountains in the Sixth Kingdom of Orea,I have never known freedom.
No one can get in or out.
Apart from him.
King Midas, who rescued me from the streets.
Who gave me food, shelter, and his heart.
Who I promised to love forever.
But when political upheaval sees me sent across kingdoms to a future I no longer understand -- everything I thought I knew about King Midas -- is shattered . . .

Book #2: Glint
After ten years, I have left the grips of one king only to fall into the hands of another . . .
I have fought the terrifying Red Raid Pirates, endured the murder of those I care about, and survived the frozen planes of Orea --
only to find myself a prisoner of the army of Fourth Kingdom.
Leading the army is Commander Rip, a notorious warrior whose name is whispered in taverns and street corners all over the six kingdoms.
But as I get to know him -- I realise that the tales of his brutality -- simply aren't true!

Book #3: Gleam
I was told that being confined was to keep the bad out . . . until I slowly realized it was all about keeping ME in.
King Midas made me forbidden and weak.
Little did he know that I would find my wings AND my voice -- which SINGS now.
After living amongst the terrifying army of Fourth Kingdom, I find myself, once again, in strange lands and a kingdom surrounded by liars.
But something has ignited within me.
Something dark.
Something angry.
Then comes along -- King Ravinger.

Great books, good writing, and a really creative world despite stemming from concepts that romantasy and myth readers are very familiar with. I've really enjoyed the progression of these books and for once I haven't been absolutely frustrated with a FMC that is clearly gaslighting herself and in denial. Usually, I hate reading books where the FMC is clearly ignoring the obvious for a long period of time (like Spark of the Everflame), but I actually believe that her circumstances have beat her down into accepting an abuser's attention and treatment as the best she's gonna get.

Her journey throughout these three books is a tough one, but well earned. There's a lot of sexual violence, especially in the first book, but it was well written. The only thing I will say as a con is that her head/pov can be kind of hard to be in sometimes. She overthinks a lot, reminisces over her trauma constantly, and her persistent defense of Midas (even though she's acknowledged his poor treatment of her) is tiresome. With that said, I am extremely happy that she saved herself and that the next book will surely explore the range of her powers and fae history.

For me, the series started off quite slow. I didn't love Gild but I heard that other people had thought the same but then loved the next books so I decided to keep going and am glad I did!

The next two books certainly picked up the pace and contained lots of character development, steamy romance and suspense between a lot of the books. I didn't love Glow as much but I am still excited to read the last one, Gold, when it comes out.

Not one of my favourite romantasy series that I have ever read but I would still recommend. Make sure to check the trigger warnings though!

Simply incredible.

I read this story a little bit slower than my typical romanasty series. Lots of triggering themes (slavery, forced prostitution, genocide, mutilating, SA). I wasn't absolutely in love with the FMC at first but the character development is some of the best written I've ever enjoyed.
A slow slow burn, with just the right amount of well written spice. I cannot wait for Goldfinch in Sept!

This series was amazing🤩 the character development of the FMC was so realistic and beautiful. The writing and world building is so beautiful. Also, it is a slow burn romance which really gets spicy as the series progresses. I can’t wait for book 5 in the series!!! This series right now is my favorite so far!!!

These books are getting better as the series goes on, which is really fun. I felt like the first book was a bit slow and Auren was a tiny bit annoying, but her character growth and development has been fun to watch. I love the relationships she is fostering and can't wait to see her happy and at peace.

I did enjoy this series and to be clear, I LOVE thick books. This series could have/ should have been shorter. I think it wandered in many places and several characters really never developed. The 'slow burn' became tiresome, IMHO, in several books. I would have rather read smaller storylines or seen a few of the other characters developed more.. i.e. Ryatt, Lu...

Pissed me off that they killed good guys. This series was harder to get thru. I like smut, but I don't really need 6 continuous pages of the same sex scene. Really liked the well thought out storyline thru the series. It really flowed from one book to the next.

The first book had a lot of information and was a slow start but the rest of the series after that was great.

If you are on the fence about reading this series. There is no fence - jump in and get lost in this world. It is absolutely worth the time and heartache you will put into reading this.
