Christmas on Captiva Island is threatened when the Wheeler family struggles with several new developments.
Lauren and Jeff Wheeler’s marriage is tested when a chance encounter and a persistent admirer widens an already troublesome crack between them.
With the family scattered and no plans to be together for Christmas, Maggie Wheeler resorts to extreme measures.
An abusive husband forces Sarah and Ciara to get involved—a decision that could cost Sarah and her unborn baby dearly.
A best friend leaves Captiva Island, and a heartbreaking diagnosis leaves everyone shocked.
Like all of Annie Cabot’s books, Captiva Christmas will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. Either way, this holiday story will warm your heart, and remind you of the true meaning of Christmas.
Annie Cabot is the author of contemporary women's fiction and family sagas. Annie writes about friendships and family relationships, that bring inspiration and hope to others.
With a focus on women's fiction, Annie feels that she writes best when she writes from experience. “Every woman's journey is a relatable story. I want to capture those stories, let others know they are not alone, and bring a bit of joy to my readers.”

When she's not writing, Annie and her husband like to travel. Winters always involve time away on Captiva Island, Florida where she continues to get inspiration for her novels.
Each series is fabulous. I absolutely love this family and characters, they're so human, they're so real I really wish the series would never end. Now I'm looking forward to more, all Is excellent. Follow her she's awesome.
Family disagreements and health issues at Christmas!
She wanted her family around the tree this Christmas. Its happened, after many phone calls! One daughter thought her marriage was over and left her husband! Her son wanted to marry his girlfriend and he asked his soon to be father-in-law for his blessings! Then she got her diagnosis from her doctor. This is a book you don't want to put down but you want to know what's going to happen next. I don't read many Christmas stories but this was great! Thank to Annie Cabot for "Captive Christmas!
What a wonderful contemporary romance. Life can bring us bad news and families the glue that keeps us together through those times. This story has lots up life's up and downs but with a wonderful supportive family and friends is a blessing . I loved this book and I hope you will too.
Captiva Christmas by Annie Cabot is the fourth book in the Captiva series, and takes place during the Christmas holidays in Florida. Of the four books I have read so far, this is my least favorite.
Trigger warnings for a cancer diagnosis and for domestic violence, although neither is over emphasized. Another possible trigger is the use of the lack of communication/refuse to communicate trope between one of the married couples over possible infidelity.
Maggie is missing her grown children who still live in Massachusetts, and wants them to come home for Christmas. When one of her married daughters shows up unannounced with her children, Maggie calls a code red to get her other children to come to Florida.
Domestic violence shows it's ugly face, and another daughter, expecting her first child, is involved because she is trying to help the victim. Maggie is faced with a cancer diagnosis, and is in the process of seeking a second opinion regarding the best treatment options.
I wouldn’t recommend as a stand alone Christmas Story
I’ve become a first reluctant, but now fan of this series. However, due to the nature of the continuing storylines & multiple ones at that, I wouldn’t recommend this as a stand alone Christmas Story. I have become invested in this series. I’ve come to like the fact that the stories do run right into one another. However, the fact that there are multiple storylines in each book & the nature of the continuation of them from book to book, they really don’t stand alone well. I did appreciate this story. Again, because of my investment, I was able to appreciate the context. However, needing “Christmas Stories” to be uplifting, this was a bit of a downer.
I have lower expectations for these books, but they generally surprise me for being beach reads. This one wasn't as good as the others though. There was a LOT going on in this book and pretty big events were introduced and wrapped up in just a few pages, it seemed. I think some of those events are worth further exploration. Sometimes the dialog is fairly simple writing and I can look past it, but there were quite a few instances that made me pause while reading this. Also, not enough Christmas for a book with Christmas in the title. With that being said, am I going to read on in the series? You betcha.
Every family has their ups and downs, including the wheeler family. How delightful it would be to spend an evening around the dinner table with all of them, enjoying their stories as they weave back-and-forth. Having grown-up in Massachusetts, I enjoyed the familiar and now we need to expand my horizons to Captiva Now want to book 5
I love all this series. Every book starts right where it ends. Love, family, friends, and illness is in this book. The family bond that this family and friends have is so strong. I’m hooked and will be so disappointed when I finish this series of books.
I love this series. The family is so relatable. Because I am a mother that misses my children, I would try to get them to be with me. Then you put cancer, marriage woes, and battered women into the equation it is a slam dunk!
The author wears a tapestry of the characters and events in this family series I enjoyed this book less than a prior for primarily due to the regular alert thing I found it offputting but I enjoy the characters and I enjoy the progress of the stories
A heartwarming story about two people and their struggles within their marriage. Things that happen make it even more difficult for them. Loved being a part of their lives.
Again another great read. What an amazing and strong woman Maggie is. It shows in her children that they get their strength from her. This book really touched my heart.
This chapter of the Wheeler family was one of my favorites. This book makes you angry and then the next minute you are laughing and crying. Love this series.
